Our weekly look at the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game is rolled out once again this afternoon. As usual, we take a look at the top of the Scout League, while glancing at the busy transfer market ahead of a double Gameweek 16 for Sunderland and Reading:

Scout League Standings

Once again, Iyad Zahlan sits atop the Scout League after a 56 point haul last weekend. Michu was his main protagonist last weekend with 16 points, while Jose Enrique, Leighton Baines and Asmir Begovic all produced the goods at the back. Luis Suarez returned a two points captaincy haul, though Robin Van Persie notched in United’s 4-3 win at Reading. Iyad is on 953 points, 11 off the overall summit.

In second place is El Tri, after he picked up 48 points last time out. Stoke pair Begovic and Ryan Shawcross produced 17 points between them, while Demba Ba and Carlos Tervez were the only others to register more than a couple of points, combining for a19 point haul up top. With 941 points so far, El Tri is eighth in the overall rankings.

T.I. sits still in third, though he’ll be disappointed by last week’s events. His team produced 37 points – all but Begovic and captain Van Persie failed to fire as he moved to 929 points, or 17th overall.

David Jones is another non-mover on fourth. His side managed 49 points inn Gameweek 15, with Enrique, Tevez, Marouane Fellaini and Wayne Rooney his main men – he’ll be ruing his decision to bench Michu after the Spaniard’s Emirates haul. David is 26th overall, with 925 points accrued so far.

Finally, Paul Godson is a new entry to the top five. His score of 50 last week was mainly down to Baines, Enrique, Fellaini and captain Van Persie as he moved to 922 points, or 32nd in the overall standings.

Our top five keep Fantasy Football Scout top of the Best Leagues, though our lead has been cut – we are now just 14.4 points ahead of our nearest challenger. For contributors, Facer remains at the top. Juan Mata, Fellaini, Enrique and Van Persie helped him to 41 points in Gameweek 15.

Market Trends

Michu leads the way for transfers in, with almost 160,000 Fantasy managers jumping aboard the Spaniard’s bandwagon after his brace at the Emirates took him to the top of the midfield rankings. Jermain Defoe has collected an extra 132,000 new owners on the back of his double at Fulham, while Marouane Fellaini has been snapped up by over 98,000 after producing returns for the sixth appearance in succession at City last weekend.

Stoke duo Asmir Begovic and Ryan Shawcross have received a combined 86,000 transfers in after the Potters registered their seventh clean sheet of the campaign at West Brom last Saturday, while a raft of forwards have all picked up in ownership. Carlos Tevez, Demba Ba, Rickie Lambert, Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie have persuaded 20,000+ to invest, while Steven Fletcher and Adam Le Fondre have received 65,000 trades in between them ahead of their respective double Gameweeks. Elsewhere for Sunderland and Reading, Stephane Sessegnon (35,000), Nicky Shorey (20,000), Hal Robson-Kanu (17,000), Sean Morrison (15,000) and Jobi McAnuff (13,000) have also proved popular picks.

For transfers out, Luis Suarez and Gareth Bale lead the way. The Liverpool man has been sold on by over 147,000 Fantasy managers in light of his upcoming one-match ban, though a strong schedule suggests he’ll be drafted in by many more next week. Bale’s hamstring injury, which is now likely to see him miss the next two, has persuaded over 104,000 to part company with the Spurs winger.

Eden Hazard is next in line for the chop. With attacking returns in one of his last six, the Chelsea midfielder has picked up 61,000 sales, with United’s Rafael (39,000) next in line after he was subbed off on the half-hour mark at Reading last Saturday evening. Yaya Toure, James Morrison and Santi Cazorla have all been subject to 25,000+ transfers out as midfields are restructured, while up top, the likes of Dimitar Berbatov, Peter Crouch, Lukas Podolski, Demba Ba and Steven Fletcher have seen significant sales, with all but the Fulham man currently a doubt heading into the weekend’s schedule.

    Hi guys,

Is this how you’d all line my team up for this week and also any suggestions on who best to captain? Currently on Giroud…

    Begovic
    Enrique Cuellar Clyne
    Mata Silva Fellaini Puncheon Sterling
    RVP Giroud

    Gazzaniga Rafael Nelsen Suarez

1FT and 0.3 in the bank..

    Cheers for any advice!

Fellaini is nice choice this week but he is not that popular around here. I don't know why. Maybe they think Tot is good opponent. But I saw that header they received against Pan yesterday. So def a option if u ask me

                    😆

There does seem to be direct correlation between being an attacking fullback and hitting those bad stats - I'm not sure you'd get much sympathy by suggesting Baines is the second worst defender in the league 😉

Found this online; you may like it, you may not, more interesting than reading most of the shit posts on here:

    1. Choose and rotate players in form with strong upcoming fixtures
    2. Some players are fixture proof through value or form
3 Don’t panic. Your league is never lost before December – patience is the key
    4. Underlying stats are the key – but you must watch games to interpret them
    5. Pick players who shoot, not who rely on assists
6 Decide if a player is clinical or overperforming
7 Your captain choice is key
    8. There’s no such thing as the correct formation
    9. Pick rotation proof players
    10. Don’t have non playing reserves but don’t over spend
    11. Don’t double team in one position – especially defence
    12. Pick the teams cheapest players in defence – attacking returns are too unpredictable
13 Ignore differentials for the sake of it
    14. Goal keeper theory
    15. Never transfer a player out before an easy home game
16 Set piece and penalty responsibilities are helpful but not the be all and end all
17 Don’t be loyal to the team you support
    18. Two transfers every 2 weeks are the rule rather than the exception
    19. Transfer late in the week – value isn’t everything
    20. There has to be special circumstances to take a 4 point hit.

I have to say I have issues with a few of these.
11 - nothing wrong with doubling up on cheap, in form defences, it's only one transfer to correct if it goes awry.
12 - Baines, Enrique etc. disprove this.
22 - Be your own boss.

At the moment Bale is dropping -2% every half hour.

    That's -10% every 2 and a half hours.

    That's -40% in 10 hours.

The deadline is in 12 and a hlaf hours.

    Bale's price will drop tonight.

Now the kinks have been ironed out I went to check Tommy's table. Gerrard's stats look impressive

      Gerrard v Caz

      Chances created 14-4

      Shots 8-12

      Minutes per chance - 47.4 - 31.2

      Minutes per chance created - 27.1 -93.5

The last hour and a half is proof enough for me that Bale is dropping -2% every half hour. Everyone knows the 'busy' transfer period is later in the day. So as said above, if anything, the transfers out rate will probably increase.

Your statement is based on what you think will happen.

It may happen, it may not happen.

My point was that your calculation was based on a rate at a certain time.

That rate will not stay the same, so your calculations mean nothing.

Well, he is injured, so yes, people will transfer him out.

As a result, his price will most likely drop.

Alright give it a rest RonH.

Currently we are experiencing a -4% per hour change. As we know that transfer rates have a tendency to increase dramatically on a friday, using this rate to predict further changes is highly conservative. Its a lower bound method and thus unquestionable.

Is anyone else not really bothering with the dgw this time round? As dgw's go this one doesn't really appeal to me much. especially as the next few weeks for Reading and Sunderland are so poor.

generally yes, but allows freedom to use HRK or Cueller as cheap options to free up cash for Suarez / RVP or Mata (when returning)

What's that about Ronh? Please start posting comments that are on topic. I don't mind off topic at times but Friday is the busiest day on the site and there's plenty to discuss.

Off topic stuff of that nature will never be welcome, however.

I try when I can to monitor for such comments but rely on "report abuse" to be alerted to them. If you have issue with a comment made against you, report it and it will be addressed if required.

I removed your comment on this occasion because if was a new comment, not a reply. We don't need threads starting up with comments like that. It was nothing personal, I just happened to be browsing and wanted to tidy it up.

I dont think anyone was offended by my comment, on the contrary, I feel most people would realise that it was a joke & would have laughed.

            It's just banter.

It's a football blog, not a political statement.

Yep, sure and as a reply it's fine as it's in context but a new comment is a new discussion and it wasn't appropriate as a new discussion. I didn't get the joke - sorry - I just took it literally and deemed it inappropriate.

Come on Ronh. I'm hardly an iron fist moderator. On this one occasion, I just read your comment and didn't like the content because I couldn't understand the context. I'm sure you've probably posted stuff which others think should have been removed before now that I've left alone.

Please don't get offended to your comments being removed as, under the new system, if the community don't like what they see, comments will be voted down and, if voted down enough, hidden from view by default.

Posters have to get used to posting stuff that's going to be welcomed and valued by the community and avoid fostering reputations that will get their comments voted down. Getting touchy about getting your posts removed now does not bode well.

The best thing about freedom of speech, is that people can learn from other people. Sometimes, what is popular, is not always correct. Society puts huge amount of pressure for people not to be independant, for people to seek to be just like everyone else.

If you want a blog where all posts are just variations of other posts, you will have a very boring blog.

A lot of people know my objective & I think a lot of people enjoy my posts, as a break from the norm, a bit of light hearted banter.

                    Fascism is not good.

Any chance of Gorkks winning back his place for the DGW? If not I'll have to start a back 4 (with Mignolet in goal) of:

Enrique (whu) Clyne (RDG) Rafael (mci) Cameron (avl)

Worth taking a hit at the back?
