We’re now down to the final 32 as we roll out the sixth round draw of the Fantasy Football Scout Paddy Power Cup VII. The fixtures take place over the upcoming Gameweek 17 and we have four of the top 1,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers still in with a shout of the silverware.

World number three Iyad Zahlan remains our leading contender – he’s up against El Pieman, who sits in 1,178th position. Elsewhere, JMS, who is currently 203rd overall, MileHigh – in 437th position – and HongKong TractorBoys, who has moved up to 567th spot, are the three other big scalps on the line this weekend.

    The more I think about it, the more I think having 5 heavy-hitting midfielders could be the way to go. And throw in RVP, a mid-price striker, and a budget bench fodder. E.g:

    Fellaini - Michu - Bale - Mata - Silva
    RVP - Berbatov - Di Santo

    A fairly risky strategy, but this way you cut out most rotation issues which the big teams give you. Obvious one is the City strikeforce; you have Silva for cover. Defoe's been consistent this term, but will Adebayor start taking his gametime?; whereas Bale is untouchable.

    RVP is the strong Captain candidate week-in, week-out. Berba is fantasic value. And Di Santo (for example) will still play if you pick up an injury/suspension.

    It's also easier to juggle midfielders out (if they're injured/out of form) to Cazorla/Walcott/Valencia etc.

      Next week I could do Fletcher and Nolan to Di Santo and Mata for free if I save my transfer this week.

        Trouble is, who do you see as a reliable, heavy hitting striker other than RVP?

        Rooney? On recent form, yes, but over RVP.. I don't know.
        Aguero? Overpriced, off form.
        Tevez? Rotation prone.
        Suarez? Having a good season, but 10.4 for a 'Pool striker is pretty expensive.

      It's a sound idea but ONLY if you stick to your guns. A girl in my work ML has Walters and Yaya since the start of the season. She captains RVP every single week. She is top of the league, still has wildcard and has made only 9 transfers.

            Sterling is not a bad option, though if you don't already have him he's probably not worth it

            Craig Gardner looks interesting. If you don;t have a heart condition Taraabt.

            Snodgrass comes over very well (but then you already knew that) though most of the Norwich mids look good

            Beausejour looks interesting, though he's not much of a goal threat, same goes for Bannan.

            Both Pablo and De Guzman come across well.

            Villa have nice fixtures but their mid is a rotation minefield.

    My team this week has a lot of issues

    Foster * / Begovic
    Nastasic / Clyne * / Demel * / Cuellar / Enrique *
    Mata * / Walcott * / Fellaini / Michu / Sterling
    RVP / Tevez / Ba

    All those * are either not playing, injured or doubts for the weekend. Already spent 4 points doing Fletcher > Tevez and Ramirez * > Fellaini. Should I spend another 4 points on any transfers? Not a big fan of hits but want to have a full team out. If poss I'd like to keep Mata and Walcott. Thoughts?

      if you end up with just Nast/Cuellar in defence it's not the end of the world...I just had 6 weeks without a clean sheet...I wouldn't do another hit anyway

Needing an 8 point hit to field 11 but it's all low value players and defenders so no particularly likely to cover any hit. Only big name I could sacrifice is Mata but I'm loathed to do that with him in great form. No idea what to do. Stupid bloomin' game.
