Michu may have delivered on his promise last weekend but, thanks to Norwich’s buoyant form, the Spaniard’s goals counted for nothing and Paddy gleefully took our money. We’re back for more this week, however, encouraged by registering some goals last time out, even if the clean sheets failed to materialise. Let’s see what our bookie friends have laid out for us for Gameweek 17…

We’ve opted for three out-and-out strikers this week, all in form, all in the Scout Picks. Jermain Defoe heads up the bunch, fresh from scoring four in his last four Gameweeks and with a Swansea side in his sights which leaked four goals to the Canaries last weekend. Defoe is being heavily backed to fill the void left by Gareth Bale’s potential absence and Paddy have slapped skinny odds of 7/2 on a Defoe goal with Tottenham clean sheet at the Lane on Sunday. We’ll take a sniff with £2 of our weekend stake.

Grant Holt was one of Norwich City’s scorers against the Swans at the Liberty and he’s subject of our next market. Wigan arrive at Carrow Road on Saturday having conceded six goals in their last couple of away trips – with Chris Hughton’s side enjoying such strong form, the smart money is on the home win, with Holt surely favoured to notch his fifth goal of what has been a tepid season thus far. Paddy are offering 11/2 on a Holt goal with a Norwich clean sheet against the Latics and we’re right behind that with a £3 stake.

Our final would-be goalscorer is Liverpool’s Luis Suarez. Returning to Premier League action having missing the 3-2 win at West Ham through suspension, there’s no danger that the Uruguayan will be back in the side and squaring up to an improved Villa back four at Anfield. Suarez is being heavily backed in Fantasy terms, as is the Liverpool back four, so odds of 15/8 on a Suarez goal with a clean sheet for Brendan Rodgers’ outfit are perhaps not surprising. We’ll throw another £3 Paddy’s way here, saving our remaining couple of quid for this week’s treble.

We couldn’t let a weekend’s bets go by without Man United figuring and, while Wayne Rooney’s form has been grabbing our attention of late, it’s Robin Van Persie who is part of our treble bet. Paddy are offering 9/1 on a Van Persie goal against Sunderland with a Robert Snodgrass assist for Norwich against Wigan and a clean sheet for Liverpool at home to Villa. We’ll take that for our final £2 of our stake.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

you can google it, there's plenty of stuff

Basically they refused to condemn it and argued that if the teachers had guns it wouldn't have happened. One guy (though I think he's just some nut job) said the kids should have guns

WALCOTT VISITED VAN PERSIE AFTER MANCHESTER DERBY

Manchester United are among the elite clubs who are keen to take advantage of Theo Walcott's contract stand-off with Arsenal.

The forward's excellent relationship on and off the pitch with Robin van Persie could play a part in a race that also features rivals Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea, with the European champions understood to be the marginal favourites to capture the England international's signature if he cannot agree new terms with Arsenal.

The Sweeper understands that Walcott visited Van Persie after last Sunday's Manchester derby and the X Factor final, which the United striker attended.

Van Persie spoke highly of Walcott's contribution to his own success last season, in which he was the double-winning Footballer of the Year, and is believed to have encouraged the winger to follow him to the Old Trafford giants.

Walcott's camp have said that Van Persie's exit last August was crucial in the wide player's decision to reject Arsenal's offer of a five-year contract.

Negotiations with the 23-year-old are continuing and there is still hope among senior officials that he will sign a new deal.

Nevertheless, there is a fear at the top of the club that Walcott will 'do a Flamini' and follow in the footsteps of the Frenchman four years ago by leaving on a free transfer at the end of the season.

How long before Arsene reviews the way he deals with giving out contracts in future. He's letting valuable assets like Nasri, RVP, Walcott etc.... run their deals down, whilst simulataneously giving long contracts to players that go on to become deadwood and subsequently cant be given away (i.e Denilson, Chamakh, Arshavin, Santos etc.......)

Taarabt is Taarabt really. Looks like one of the few that actually really genuinely care about our plight at the moment.

Was at fault for Wigan's first goal as he didn't close down McArthur quickly enough but he's been playing well. Last season he wouldn't even have been found on the edge of our box defending corners...

Fletch yes, can't see much of a difference between Fulham and Sunderland defensively to be honest with you.

Better off downgrading to W Ham defender or get Clyne or Nelsen as they a least offer you chance of goals and/or baps.

Definitely not if its for a hit either.

Was thinking of downgrading Fletcher to Mackie and get rid of Gorkss/Cuellar/Will

Why not get Puncheon for Sterling then and use the spare cash to upgrade one of Williamson or Cuellar?

Both have nasty fixtures coming up and you don't have great alternatives to play in their place really.

I expect some points from Sterling over the next four favorable fixtures and at the same time I know Fletcher will not deliver at all. Plus think it would be good to have QPR coverage with them desperately needing some wins now.
