Bryan Ruiz has a chance of returning from a hamstring injury for Fulham’s home game with Southampton, though Damien Duff and Mladen Petric are out for the Cottagers. The Costa Rican’s possible comeback would see a more advanced role for Dimitar Berbatov ahead of a run of three home games in the next four for the Cottagers.

Martin O’Neill is sweating over the fitness of Seb Larsson and Adam Johnson ahead of the visit of City – both were subbed off last weekend with knee and leg problems respectively.

In what has been a relatively quiet day in terms of official news, Chris Hughton has confirmed Grant Holt is expected to return as Norwich prepare for the visit of Chelsea, though right-back Steven Whittaker is ruled out for the Canaries.

Darron Gibson is available for Everton’s Boxing Day home game with Wigan. The Toffees have appealed against the midfielder’s dismissal at West Ham last weekend, with the FA expected to review the case on December 27.

Michael Laudrup is hopeful on a return for Pablo Hernandez as Swansea make their way to Reading, though Angel Rangel remains a doubt for the Welsh outfit, while Harry Redknapp is optimistic on Julio Cesar’s chances of a comeback as QPR prepare for the visit of West Brom.

    guy in my minileague is 16th in the world, sickens me.. he has no clue about price rises, he has often benched players when clearly he shouldn't have (eg michu this wk) yet is flying high.. i, on the other hand, divulge myself in ff information probably more than anyone on this site, yet am 200pts behind him.. in fairness, if u were to go over my GW history u'd see the luck i've had, but still hate seeing recreational players doing that well when there's money on the line

      This time last season (well GW14) I was 173pts (679pts to his 852pts) off my mini-league leader who was similarly aloof. I finished 70 points ahead of him! So bide your time and make double gameweeks count.

            Anyway I wasn't going to made my decisions based on the UEFA competition. I couldnt care less if I am in UCL or Europa. I took the hit so in hope of delaying needed to play Jan WC. Plus TWs defence is in awful shape so the -4 from my side shouldn't be a massive hurdle for me to overcome

        I thought he was dreadful, Doos. Misplaced passes every 90 seconds and he made the wrong choices at two crucial moments (very unlike him).

        This is why I think he will bounce back in a big way. He likes (craves) to be in Alec's good books.

          You'll get a nice price rise in that case 🙂

          It's just the frustration element with him. Every game it looks like he's nearly got a goal or a few assists and there isn't even the consolation of CS with EFC

          Former club and all that, plus he scored at the DW. Bodes well although Soton at home boded well
