The hot favourite was sent packing from the quarter finals last weekend, as former world number one Iyad Zahlan was swept aside by “MileHigh” by 80 points to 46. The latter now moves up to 58th in the overall standings and will be joined in the last four by Wild Rover, who edged past Tommy Tynans Left Shin Pad by two points in a battle of the site regulars.

Kun Nguyen also earned a place in the semi-finals with an upset of his own, defeating JMS 65-58, while David Bevan’s “Ange1Range1” scraped through on overall rank after drawing 50-50 with another familiar name on site, Ricky Smokes Lets Go.

The Semi-Final draw will follow later this week, with the last four clashing in Gameweek 22 as we take a break for the New Year’s Day programme. Those now involved now have the option to ponder whether to play their January Wildcards prior to their Gameweek 22 tie. Tense stuff.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Begovic
    Rafael Demel Nelsen
    Mata Walcott Michu Puncheon

Given the state of that defence do you think Enrique > Zabaelta (-4) sounds reasonable.

    REPOST (with added DGW)

There have been a few posts about Jan WC timings so I thought I’d summarise my stance.

    1) Using the WC to milk cash-cows for profit
This is the technique of temporarily buying players who are rising in price, to squeeze a 0.1m profit from 2 price rises. My experience of doing this in the first international break was not a happy one. I only made £0.3m and it was a nasty, stressful time. The problem is that to do it effectively, you need to have lots of ‘empty’ player slots and lots of free funds to be able to juggle the cash-cows. At this point, most of us already have a lot of the players we want to keep so there aren’t enough cow-milking slots in our teams.

Avoid this technique, it just isn’t worth it.

    2) WC’ing early to beat the price rises
A LOT of fantasy managers (not necessarily on these boards) will activate their WCs at the first opportunity. Prices for players like Walcott, Mata, Bale etc will rocket. Last year I remember Valencia went up around £1.0m over the course of the WC window. Leaving it late might mean you can’t get the team you want.

    3) New knowledge
But leaving it late will mean you can take advantage of late transfer news. For example, you won’t need to waste a transfer to ditch Bale when he moves to Real Madrid.

    4) DGW Planning
GW23 is the Arsenal and West Ham DGW (like you didn't know). You'll want to plan your WC to either bring your DGW players in or, if you've planned ahead and got them in already, use the WC to clean up the mess afterwards (for GW24). This intersects with 2 & 3 because using the WC to clean up will be a late WC.

I'll leave it to better players than me to say whether 2, 3 or 4 is more important.

4 as soon as the DGW deadline has passed i.e. on the Saturday, to get the price rises on the Saturday evening in that week for an extra 0.1m and then have WC team by the end of GW22 in tinme for 11.30am GW23

Pondering a similar position. I can field

      McAuley Vertonghen Sagna

And make the trade for free, and I'm still not convinced.

I'd go for it if I could be sure Azpilicueta would start the next 2, or if I could crowbar in Luiz. But I've no confidence in either.

So Aguero finally put up a good week this weekend, but I'm still tempted to sell. He's overdue a rest, and Stoke doesn't really sound like a goalfest.

I also have Suarez and RVP which is a lot of money up front. Thoughts?

I'd definitely keep if I was certain he would start, but he has had 90 minutes in all the xmas games. Tevez didn't play and Dzeko was subbed early in a great performance by him.

Don't you think it's logical for him to be benched?

I sold. Couldn't afford to have him getting benched in real life. With both bale, nolan and michu maybe out, one more out could kill my team. So if you have allot of other red flags on your team, do the transfer.

No, you have to play the lose of the other semi in the same week as the final to decide who gets 3rd place.

I came 4th last year to Optimus, so trust me on this one 😉

    A: Nolan - 5 votes
    B: Podolski - 5 votes
    C: Jaask - 2 votes
    D: Cole - 2 votes
    E: Cazorla - 3 votes

Surely you wouldnt go into the dgw without Caz. He also has great returns against strong teams

Difficult to squeeze him in without getting rid of Defoe to free up funds, but Defoe has 3 good fixtures coming up

If the game didn't have the (C) option, then maybe.

But his consistency is a premium worth paying for.

I've experimented with replacing him with Rooney in some drafts, can't imagine I'd have the balls though.

Need to remove Bale in order of having a chance of playing 11 this GW. I want a one week punt, unlimited budget. Bale will be back in on my WC which will be played ASAP.

Lampard, Hazard, Gerrard, Dempsey, Kagawa, Young? Any others worth considering?

Leaning to Hazard and Dempsey myself as it is probably SAF's turn to play Giggs and Scholes so I am bound to pick the wrong Utd mid..

Dempsey wouldn't be the worst shout...

Will start and you never know, could even be up front with Adebayor's form....

      Very nice fixture too.....

Got this lot at the moment....

    Bego - Schezny

    Enrique - McCauley - Zab - Davies - Sagna

    Michu - Bale - Fellaini - Sterling - Walcott

    Defoe - RVP - Berba

    I'm thinking (with 1FT and £0.2m) Enrique ----> Azpil...?

What d'ya think? Anyone else got a better suggestion?
