A somewhat vague Michael Laudrup reveals there’s “a possibility” Michu could return against Villa tomorrow. Newcastle are without Danny Simpson for the next “three to four weeks” according to Alan Pardew, after the right-back broke a toe in Saturday’s loss at Arsenal.

Samir Nasri is banned for three games after City decided not to appeal his sending off at Norwich. Martin Jol hopes to have Damien Duff and Mark Schwarzer back for Fulham’s trip to West Brom. Chelsea confirm Petr Cech picked up a groin injury in yesterday’s win at Everton, Adam Lallana is ruled out again for Southampton, though Nathaniel Clyne will undergo a late fitness test. Everton lose Darron Gibson for a month with a groin injury, while Stoke’s Andy Wilkinson is expected to recover from the concussion that forced him off at the weekend in time for the trip to City. Jose Enrique misses out for Liverpool, while Sunderland, in opposition at Anfield, will be missing John O’Shea – both are stricken by hamstring injuries.

      Yes, really good transfer imo. Enrique is out anyway, and Luiz looks an attacking threat. I'd do it if I hadn't already taken a -8pt hit.

      I'd personally go Walker or Zab (or Rafael) as it would allow you to get Bale in for Silva next week. Without that concern though (or with another way to get bale in) I think Luiz is a great choice

    There is a chance that he wont even be in the Newcastle squad, even if a transfer away has not been completed.

    He is currently sat on my bench. I really want him to play against Everton, I fancy him to score a couple again, but with all the crap surrounding the clause in his contract, I dont think he is going to play myself.

    Quick question.

    Michu a doubt so cuellar to come in if not fit. Would you leave cuellar on bench fully aware he will come in when he is away to Liverpool.

    Or would you perhaps do shorey to 4-4.1 defender. Already got O'Brien so could be Turner of Norwich or maybe clyne however not much great choice.

    Gary Neville has just done a great analysis of Chelsea under Benitez. He reckons Ramires will be the main starter in the RW midfield spot. Could be good value, considering the price of Mata and Hazard in similar advanced positions.

      Ramires = Dirk Kuyt.

      If Rafa is getting 100% control over first team matters, then Rafa is very much a set in ways 4-2-3-1 manager, you just have a look back at when he was at Liverpool, you'll notice a pattern of players that he likes to play. He liked hard working players on the wings. That can play between the lines.

      I personally think you're looking at

      Lampard Luiz
      Ramires Mata Oscar
      Torres

      More often than not, Rafa does rotate a lot, but he seems to do that by regular subs from the 60 minute mark. He manages like a robot, so I wouldnt worry about players not starting, but players not playing the full 90. I'm speaking from experience as a Liverpool supporter.

      Carriço was not playing at Sporting. He´s a central defender or defensive midfielder.

      When he was younger was seen as a great prospect from Sporting academy (famous for Ronaldo, Quaresma, Simão, Futre, Nani, etc).
      In his first season he played ok (was a good young player from my POV) but in the last 2 years he felt out of favour with different managers at Sporting.

      For the style of the Premier League i think he suits better as a central defender.

      Personally I wouldn't do it.

      Sterling could easily score decently against Sunderland and I think Fellaini is unlikely to outscore him by 4. We won't be as open as its a game we need to pick up points in, last two we attacked knowing we had no chance otherwise. Fellaini could also play deeper.
