In case you missed last night’s message – happy new year to you all!

There’s no time to shake the fuzzy heads, 2013 starts right here for Fantasy managers with seven Premier League matches and another 11.30 deadline ahead of us. This is the final straight of what has been an exhausting but exhilarating festive spell and, as always on deadline day, we’ve opened up our Matchday Surgery chatroom for one last time before the break for FA Cup football next weekend. No shouting please.

Our first Dugout Discussion of the year follows at 12.30 ahead of Fulham’s trip to West Brom. Sadly, there’s no preamble this morning – I’ve been up early, sans hangover, tinkering and testing Rate My Team and the Hall of Fame for roll out later today. It’s looking good and we should be live with those features shortly after the final whistle from today’s three o’clock matches.

    Quick question folks. I am in the rare position, for me, of having two wild cards available. I usually use my first one with the first few game weeks but have retrained myself this year.

    My question is, if I wildcard tonight, I assume it will automatically use the Jan wildcard?

        I thought the concensus was that regardless of the length of time between GWs, players could only go up 0.3 maximum? So the long turnaround is irrelevant isn't it? There'll be lots of rises, but more to do with the amount of WCs being played than the lengthy break?

    All this Kun roation risk is now shown as nonsense

    Yes he was saved for Cl games earlier in the season.

    Now thats gone hes clearly number 1 man playing 90 in all 3 christmas games.

    Yes he may get rested today but RVP was a sub v WBA.

    So Kun is as nailed on as RVP especially with city having no europe.

    If you leave that until after the DGW, the defence will suffer a lot as most of these players are likely to go up.

        What is so tempting about Nolan? Look at his form. Look at the alternatives form. Even with a DGW he isn't at all certain to outscore those 5...I wouldn't even say it was likely.

      I think that's the main reason you'd be tempted to WC now - not chasing extra value, but ensuring you can afford the team you want. As you point out, some of those players may rise 0.5 (or more) within a few weeks...

      Who'll be your third striker? I have same 7 except Pilkington and Taarabt for Walcott and Fellainin. Prob won't get Walcott. Suarez, Van Persie and Berbatov up front.

    Ba/Podolski + Bale

    I'm wildcarding out of the DGW and into GW24...
    Initially was all over Demba Ba, but uncertainty of transfer and new team? ..leads me to more Arsenal coverage for DGW in the form of Podolski...
