Southampton battle for a point at St Maryโ€™s as Theo Walcott endures a frustrating evening on his return to his former stamping ground. Hereโ€™s the Stock Check on Saturdayโ€™s evening kick-offโ€ฆ

On the Up

Gaston Ramirez
Back in the side having been kept out of the heat of the Britannia battle, the Uruguayan fired home his third goal of the season to give the Saints the advantage. Ramirez has promised much since his arrival, without really catching fire as a Fantasy asset. With Adam Lallana seemingly sidelined for the foreseeable future, however, he looks to be a key figure in Southamptonโ€™s battle for survival and my yet draw our interest when fixtures fall kinder for Nigel Adkinsโ€™ men.

Jason Puncheon
A prime budget option, Puncheon has disappointed of late having looked to be making a mockery of his price tag. Nonetheless, the assist for tonightโ€™s goal took him to six for the season and with two goals and a record that shows heโ€™s started the last ten league matches, Puncheon is a reliable budget midfielder who offers attacking intent. He could yet show his worth if the Saints can improve their goal output.

The Southampton Defence
Prior to conceding three at Stoke, Nigel Adkinsโ€™ side had let in just four goals in six league outings. Tonight, the new resolute defence was again on show as Southampton worked tirelessly to stifle the Arsenal threat. Nathaniel Clyne missed out again with a knee problem but he and Jose Fonte are emerging as decent budget options in the light of the new emphasis on keeping things tight.

Going Down

Theo Walcott
While the Gunners man returned the assist for Do Pradoโ€™s own goal, Walcott suffered a miserable night back at his former club. Having seen little joy in the lone striker role, he was shifted to a wide role on the introduction of Oliver Giroud. Walcott cut a forlorn figure at the whistle and this was a far cry from the stunning display that helped see off Newcastle at the weekend.

Santi Cazorla
Itโ€™s just one assist in three matches now for the playmaker who has found himself dissolve into the background in Fantasy terms, as Walcott has come to the fore. Owners of Cazorla will surely have one eye on the double fixture in Gameweek 23 and hoping for a revival, while tonightโ€™s showing from Walcott will perhaps do little to prompt the straight swap.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Depends on the players available. Right now, the number of exceptional goalscoring mfs warrants it. Chances are most of us can't afford 3 top strikers anyway and end up compromising with the likes of Lambert, Berba etc. They're in good form now but it took them a while...

A or B. Go for the glory of a cup win mate. You can always recover you're overall ranking (we are only at the halfway stage after all) but you'll only have one chance at Cup glory!

A or B of course depends on how you're set up for the semi and (potential) final GWs

      i'd play now.

whats with the fascination of playing in gw 24? there are no really good fixtures after gw 24 for the big sides. I dont think you should bother too much about the dgw with arsenal, there will be a few lucky big scores but nobody will get above 12 tbh

Whether to wilcard or not aside, I disagree on both points. One of the reasons that you should bother with Arsenal for the DGW is their (very) good fixtures for the 4 weeks following it...

Also you have your anytime WC so I would not be worried about using Jan one to go for the Cup win.
I'd imagine now with planning for the final with subs would be the best option.

I think you're in fine shape for next week. I'm not sure what major moves you'd make with a WC given that 4 big teams play each other and chelsea is away at stoke. B or C will probably depend on how next week goes, but I think you're in good shape to save it. A WC right before the DGW could be opportune... Best of luck.

56 with Cuellar, Mata (Puncheon first sub if not!) and Suarez to play. Greens so far, moved to top of my ML and jumped well into top 100 now at 82k from 309k three gw's back, not bad I guess.

Who is saving their wc for after the dbl gw kicks in? That seems to give 10 days to get rises too if I have worked it out correctly.
