The Rate My Team Tool (RMT) for members, rolled out on January 1, has been updated with some recent UI improvements, browser compatibility fixes and now also reflects the latest transfer moves and double Gameweeks.

Following yesterday’s FA Cup victory for Chelsea, we’ve added their additional fixture with Southampton to give both teams a double Gameweek and this is now shown in RMT for the players involved. The likes of Daniel Sturridge, Demba Ba and Joe Cole have also been moved to their new clubs so you can start building them into your RMT lineups to see how they are predicted to fare in the coming weeks. We will be updating RMT throughout the week as more team news comes in and the FPL update their squads with new player arrivals and players have their departure to the African Cup of Nations confirmed. I’ll keep members posted on the major updates each week.

In terms of fixes and improvements, following feedback from those using the tool early on, we’ve changed the method of removing players in order to make the took compatible with mobile devices. There have also been fixes for Internet Explorer and Chrome users.

There are still some bugs remaining in the “My Team” section when building a team from scratch. We’re looking to eliminate those, although we do plan to re-write the UI code for next season, so we’re aware that, with the comments system development our focus, some improvements may be shelved until the summer.

Nevertheless, RMT is up and running and providing our members with a new method of testing their theories, future transfers and team selection. During these Winter Wildcard times, it’s hopefully providing a useful new guide.

If you’re not a member and would like some more information on Rate My Team and how it can help you, view our two part previews, with part one here, and part two via this link. Half-Season memberships remain available for £10 with full information on the benefits, in addition to RMT, available via this page.

One query that has been raised which, perhaps requires further explanation, is based on the My Team view which recommends players in your squad that should be benched as subs in each Gameweek. Some users have noticed that RMT sometimes recommends players to be benched, even though they are predicted to score more heavily than a player in your lineup.

This is because RMT uses a probability of a player playing in a given Gameweek to calculate the average score shown in the table. However, behind the scenes, RMT also looks at a player’s likely score assuming that the player takes part in the match – e.g: it ignores the possibility that the player plays zero minutes. On occasions when this value is greater, it overrides the displayed average points when it comes to recommending your starting XI. As an example, if Robin Van Persie was a major doubt for Gameweek 22, RMT could still recommend playing him above another striker in your squad, even though the value shown to the user in the RMT table might be lower. As we know, you would often play Van Persie in this scenario and let the auto-subs take care of the rest: this tactic is reflected as a feature in the tool.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Cazorla for a hit > Hazard or Mata then back again ?

I'm wondering should I go ahead with my proposed transfers?

    Caulker > Luiz
    Aguero > Lambert

Caulker is on the verge of falling. I know I should wait but I'm not usually that kind of person. 0.1m lost for a player I regret buying is hard to take. 🙂

    What say you?

We've wandered the streets and still no sign. Going to put up posters asap, it's so sad...we've had him since I was about 10 and I'm so fond of him. All we can do is hope he shows up soon. Thanks for asking mate.

As I said, I've known family cats go wandering off for a week or more and then stroll back in the door like nothing has happened. A good idea to put posters up though, just in case anyone has taken him in. I really hope he comes home soon though!

The likes of Cahill and Ivanovic are great attacking defenders to have but at the same time...I think there's a bit of luck involved in their goals. Also think Ivanovic isn't as dangerous as a CB as when he was RB bursting up the field.

Luiz is hardly clinical but at least he's having a fair few bites at the cherry recently.

Lost on bottom of last page. Sanity check. Reckon I should be able to handle the two DGWs without using my wildcard, perhaps a hit for each?

    Foster Begovic
Johnson Sagna** Demel** Olsson (inj?) Davies
    Mata* Walcott** Michu Fellaini Puncheon*
    RVP Berbatov Suarez

    1FT 0.3 in bank.

    * DGW22 coverage
    ** DGW23 coverage

    For DGW22 I’m thinking of Foster & Johnson > Turnbull* & Luiz*
For DGW23 I’m thinking of Olsson > Gibbs**. Just enough in bank for that.
    WC for GW25.

Turnbull seems a safe bet as long as you'll have your January WC to change him back.
Looking good.. semi investment in this DGW is a lot safer, it mightn't be that profitable for those of us who get 6.

        Current team is:

        Jassi, Bego

        O'Brien, Zabaleta, Nelsen, Hughes, Davies

        Walcott, Santi, Pienaar, Sterling, Michu

        RVP, Suarez, Ba

So getting rid of Santi seems like the main problem but could use my free to get him back next week if Arsenal look up for the fight. I wanted to leave it as late as possible to W/C but just feel so exposed with Ba as my only DGW players and already wasted my FT on O'Brien so this would kinda erase that mistake

Do i need to wildcard? Team at the moment for GW22 (Bank = £0.6m, 2 free transfers):

    Begovic(CHE)
    G.Johnson(mun) Hangeland(WIG) Demel(sun)
    Walcott(MCI) Taarabt(TOT) Bale(qpr) Silva(ars)
    Suarez(mun) Van Persie(LIV) Ba(stk/SOU))

subs - Foster, Sterling, Nelsen, Santon

I'm very reluctant to use my WC seeing as i already have 2 frees. Was looking at getting Mata and a Chelsea defender in for Silva and Santon/Johnson. What ya reckon? Better to save the WC for another GW?

I'd definitely do Silva and GJ to Mata and Luiz/Ivan. S'oton cover isn't needed that badly, I can't see anyone making you really regret leaving them out.

Then you could even take a hit to get 2 more Arsenal the week after, I'm spending 8 points over using my WC and I'm happy to do so.

My original plan was to WC in GW24 also, but the additional DGW made the difference for me. CHE and ARS both have good fixtures after GW23 so I don't mind holding them for a little while, plus WHU's are ok for a few weeks, so enough time to slowly weed them out. Have posted my team below - let me know what you think! 🙂

Lost on the bottom of the last page.

    Bego
    Davies Demel Cuellar
    Bale Caz Theo Punch
    Ba RVP Berba

    Rudd Enrique Taarabt Nelsen

Swap out Rudd for Turnbull for -4 and play him? Surely he will atleast 4 so I won’t miss out on anything.
And should I play Taarabt against his old team? Not okay having two Ars against City and don’t want to drop a DGW in Punch.

This way I’m fine for both GWs with only a -4 which is guaranteed back.

He's guaranteed that though so I lose nothing at the same time. It's just a question of whether I have lots to gain from it. Even if he keeps one clean sheet. Correct? Unless Bego gets a killer score..

Expect 350,000 Mata transfers in on Saturday morning once everyone realises though.

I was surprised by the lack of activity on the first few nights and that was the final confirmation I needed not to play the wildcard; in addition to being unsure of the timing, I wasn't going to get a value boost out of it.

I think it's simple as that, it's not clear to most that the WC is available or that there's even a DGW next week.

My wildcard not fairly set , took two days to find one im happy with

It a blend of long term and double , with only 5 changes to my original team

Bego Jussi .........Speaks for itself , bought both very cheap and wont need to touch all season

Gibbs Azo Clyne Demil Cuellar...............three for the doubles , cuellar be fine when i need him

Mata Fellan Bale Michu Arteta................Next week mata becomes Walcott

RVP berbatov Ba ...................................couldnt ignore Ba , too riskky to leave out

Think you agree its a good wildcard , no long term damage that will need to be undone, went for arteta over caz to afford rest , he ok and on penalties Can downgrade a mid in a few weeks to get suarez iif need be , but maybe Cisse Sturridge or Benteke will sep up

No not confident of Azpi playing both games , or Ba , however you cant be confident over any of them ,
Ba shouldnt need two games , even if he dosent start one he likely to get half hour , should be enough.

I think Azp & Luiz will play both games. Terry hasn't trained yet I don't think so can't see him taking any part in the DGW. Also, there's a good chance Cahill would be the one to miss out.

If going with Turnbull & Mata, it's a really tough call as to who to have as your 3rd CHE player imo. I'm on Ba at the moment cause I think he has the biggest upside, but I know it comes with a rotation risk. Easy transfer next week if so, Ba -> PODOLSKI

Yeah Terry in for Cahill looks very plausible and looking to get Luiz in by virtue of his midfield role. Just finding it hard to convince myself that Azpi will start both games inside 4 days.

So Terry hasn't trained yet? Really reckon he's some way off playing?

          Podolski is a great call.

Damn, Caulker dropped. Looking on the bright side I can watch the Chelsea Swansea game and not worry about much now.

Ouch. That's the trouble with fiso, it's an approximation to the fpl formula, never exact.

Ah, it's for the best though considering Chelsea have a game midweek. Imagine I'd done a transfer and there were injuries...would feel even worse I'd say.

For players I want at least, nobody's price is going anywhere fast.

May as well wait for as long as I can.

    My team for GW22

    Federici
    CAHILL – SAGNA – CLYNE
    MATA (c) – Fellaini – Michu – WALCOTT
    RvP – Bebatov – Suarez

Sub: JAASKELAINEN - DEMEL, Davies, Sterling
No FT, 1.5 in the bank

Would you do Federici to Turnbull for -4 hit???
