The Rate My Team Tool (RMT) for members, rolled out on January 1, has been updated with some recent UI improvements, browser compatibility fixes and now also reflects the latest transfer moves and double Gameweeks.

Following yesterday’s FA Cup victory for Chelsea, we’ve added their additional fixture with Southampton to give both teams a double Gameweek and this is now shown in RMT for the players involved. The likes of Daniel Sturridge, Demba Ba and Joe Cole have also been moved to their new clubs so you can start building them into your RMT lineups to see how they are predicted to fare in the coming weeks. We will be updating RMT throughout the week as more team news comes in and the FPL update their squads with new player arrivals and players have their departure to the African Cup of Nations confirmed. I’ll keep members posted on the major updates each week.

In terms of fixes and improvements, following feedback from those using the tool early on, we’ve changed the method of removing players in order to make the took compatible with mobile devices. There have also been fixes for Internet Explorer and Chrome users.

There are still some bugs remaining in the “My Team” section when building a team from scratch. We’re looking to eliminate those, although we do plan to re-write the UI code for next season, so we’re aware that, with the comments system development our focus, some improvements may be shelved until the summer.

Nevertheless, RMT is up and running and providing our members with a new method of testing their theories, future transfers and team selection. During these Winter Wildcard times, it’s hopefully providing a useful new guide.

If you’re not a member and would like some more information on Rate My Team and how it can help you, view our two part previews, with part one here, and part two via this link. Half-Season memberships remain available for £10 with full information on the benefits, in addition to RMT, available via this page.

One query that has been raised which, perhaps requires further explanation, is based on the My Team view which recommends players in your squad that should be benched as subs in each Gameweek. Some users have noticed that RMT sometimes recommends players to be benched, even though they are predicted to score more heavily than a player in your lineup.

This is because RMT uses a probability of a player playing in a given Gameweek to calculate the average score shown in the table. However, behind the scenes, RMT also looks at a player’s likely score assuming that the player takes part in the match – e.g: it ignores the possibility that the player plays zero minutes. On occasions when this value is greater, it overrides the displayed average points when it comes to recommending your starting XI. As an example, if Robin Van Persie was a major doubt for Gameweek 22, RMT could still recommend playing him above another striker in your squad, even though the value shown to the user in the RMT table might be lower. As we know, you would often play Van Persie in this scenario and let the auto-subs take care of the rest: this tactic is reflected as a feature in the tool.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

ok lads, since Azpi is rising tonight I'll ask this now. For DGW (non-wc)

    Turnbull, Azpi or Luiz

Wasting a transfer (especially not a free one) on a GK so close to wc seems silly.

Am thinking Luiz, he is not close to a rise (not very high NTI) and I can see if he gets a rest on Weds. Plus he's OOP, on the odd fk and pen

Id actually get Turnbull if you will wildcard soon, seems most nailed on for 2 games. Or wait until wednesday and see if Luiz gets a rest in the cup.

yeah I'll do that, if Luiz doesn't play v Swans, chances are he'll play both games for DGW, if he doesn't he may get rested for 1 so Turnbull becomes the most nailed on option

Ugh, right at the end. Would you wildcard if you could get this team for a 4pt hit (Suarez and Cuellar to Ba and Azpil)?

    Begovic
    Azpil – Baines – O’Brien
    Mata – Theo – Michu – Bale
    RVP – Ba – Berb

Subs: Sterling – Davies – Nelsen

    A) Yes, you should wildcard

    B) No, that team looks fine

Schalke are now very keen to offload Lewis Holtby to Spurs in the winter transfer period for a €2 million fee.

They'd get nothing for him in the summer as he's out of contract, and Holtby's not played well so far this season anyway.

No, Holtby's confirmed that he'll sign in the summer for free, as he'll be out-of-contract in June. Schalke would like to bring the move forward to get some money out of it.

Took me down memory lane trying to read the article for fun, did German at A-level and was creaking my German brain back into gear...

Interesting to do it in reverse, agreeing terms with the player for a summer transfer and then agreeing terms with the club for a winter transfer instead.

Schalke always wanted to sell Holtby in the winter break. They're also worried that the touchy Gelsenkirchen crowd might turn against him now that he's announced his decision to leave.

It's going to be a strange situation IMO if he signs in January since they'll have him, Sigurdsson and Dempsey at the same club in similar positions. When I saw it was a summer transfer I assumed one of the rivals would depart in the summer.

DGW punt i guess. You'd think he'll start one game, probably Stoke, and then come on as a sub against Southampton. He has every chace of getting some goals.

so the only people buying him are those incapable of looking more than one week ahead?...or are they switching to Giroud for another shaky player who might struggle to get 90 mins?

        ^this.

I might be biased because I own him already but he could score even if he plays only 20 min. in a match.. He is a great striker playing in a much better team.

Basicaally it about managing risk , if you high in the overall then it risky not to have him because of his high ownership,
He score two versus southampton this week , when chelsea were away from home,
southamptons efence is now weaker an they away.

He will also have many more chances thanat newcastle and he has a high coversion rate
he is also a money maker as will be bought by thousands

Fair enough. It is fairly obvious that he will share playing time with Torres.

the 3rd top scoring forward moves to a less injury ravaged team with 'better' players , scored 2 on his debut and now potentially will play in 2 games in 1 week

So RMT says this week it's 3.33 for Foster and 1.38 for Olsson. Presumably factoring in Olsson's injury. I suppose that means they rate his chances of playing at around 40%.

Ok posted a little something yesterday, but I'll repeat it today. There is much debate over whether to WC or not with a DDGW impending. My take on it is this

If you have no Chelsea, or Saints and no Arsenal/West ham, it's probably worth it as there could be some serious points to be made over the next 2 weeks. If you can get 7 or more out over both DGWs it's not worth a wc IMO, particularly is said wc results in losing Bale, Michu (and maybe Fellaini) as any of these players could score more in 1 game than some players in 2 (especially rotation risk Chelsea mids)

Also bear in mind that Arsenal's cup replay could also cause rotation there, though i don't know who Wenger rested today, not seen either of the games, am just about to watch.

Swansea has the cup semis vs Chelsea too so we will probably see a weakened side vs Arsenal and I think Arsenal will rotate for that game as well
