Earlier today, Fantasy managers were given the heads-up on a potentially imminent double Gameweek for both Swansea and Liverpool. At present, neither club has a Gameweek 27 fixture due to the Welsh club’s progress to the Capital One Cup Final on February 24 but according to Michael Laudrup, the fixture could be rescheduled for the weekend prior to their clash with Bradford City.

Swansea Upcoming Fixtures
February 9 – home league game versus QPR (GW26)
February 24 – Capital One Cup Final versus Bradford
March 2 – home league game versus West Brom (GW28)

Liverpool Upcoming Fixtures
February 11 – home league game versus West Brom (GW26)
February 14 – away game versus Zenit St Petersburg in Europa League
February 21 – home game versus Zenit St Petersburg in Europa League
February 26 – home friendly versus Norwegian side Strømsgodset
March 2 – away league game versus Wigan (GW28)

Certainly, with both sides out of the FA Cup, they now have a free weekend in mid-February (FA Cup Fifth Round) that could suit. Looking at the respective schedules above, Liverpool are clearly the busier of the pair, with a couple of Europa League games and a friendly on the horizon – should they progress past Zenit, Brendan Rodgers’ side will be keen to avoid any further fixture congestion.

The period between February 14-21 looks the most obvious – Liverpool face a trip to Russia on the February 14 – a Thursday – and with travelling time taken into account, a game on Sunday 17 or even Monday 18 would suit, with the latter date still giving them three days before their return match against Zenit. This backs up Laudrup’s thoughts on the matter and certainly suits Swansea, given their comparatively scarce fixture list.

Considering that Gameweek 27 doesn’t get underway until February 23, such a scenario would give both clubs a double Gameweek 26. Liverpool, therefore, would be afforded a hugely enticing pair of home fixtures, with West Brom also rolling up to Anfield, while Laudrup’s men would play host to QPR before making their way to Merseyside a week-and-a-half later.

If this transpires, it leaves Fantasy managers with something of a quandary, given the blank Gameweek 27. While many will load up on both sides for a possible double, resisting the urge to then transfer them out could be key – Liverpool face a superb run of matches from Gameweek 28 onwards which sees them travel to four of the bottom six as well as home clashes with Spurs and West Ham (wig, TOT, sou, avl, WHM, rea), heightening the appeal of the likes of Luis Suarez, Steven Gerrard, Daniel Sturridge, Glen Johnson and Jose Enrique.

After their blank, Swansea face three home games in four (NEW, wba, ARS, TOT) then travel to Norwich and Wigan before hosting Southampton in Gameweek 34. Michu’s owners will no doubt hold but, while the likes of Ben Davies is surely set to earn a rise in ownership, the multitude of midfield options amongst Laudrup’s squad could well deter investment in the likes of Pablo Hernandez and Wayne Routledge.

Again, nothing has been confirmed but the potential looks particularly enticing. Given the success of Chelsea and Arsenal’s main Fantasy assets in the back-to-back doubles gone by, there will no doubt be huge interest in this one – strong benches will be a necessity for those patient enough to hold in Gameweek 27, while those still clutching wildcards will be licking their lips in anticipation if it does, indeed, go ahead. At the moment, this is just a heads-up – we’ll bring you more on this as soon as the Premier League announce the new date.

    Really need to get Bale in this week and the only options for me are to do:

    A) Fellaini to Bale
    B) Ba to Poggy

    I cannot decide which to do...B) involves a hit but I love Fellaini's fixtures!
    Demba wold go next week anyway but Torres starting on Saturday means Demba is going to be given a start against the team he scored 2 against last time around...oh it's so hard...HELP

    Hi ya guys, I've got some borderline newbie questions. Last time I played fantasy was 2 years ago and on Sky Sports. Was in America since then for a job.

    I see a lot in regards to "Team Value" and also "selling high". How does it affect me on a weekly basis? For example I had Shawcross (5.0) and Begovic (4.5) from the beginning of the year. During my Jan. WC I sold ShawX at 6.0, "selling high". I still have Bego.

    Is it better to sell a guy like ShawX or keep him and increase my overall TV? I really have no clue how either benefits me and can't find it in the FPL "rules".

      Team value means nothing unless you are selling. If you keep a player all season it matters not whether he is £5m or £10 unless you are buying

      When you sell player, you only get half of the profit. So, if you bought Shawx at 5.0 and sold him at 6.0, you'd get 5.5 for him.

      That means you don't want to sell a player that you've made money on, if you plan to buy them back soon.

      With ShawX you bought for 5.0, sold for 5.5 when he was "worth" 6.0. In reality he wasnt worth 6.0 so you can buy Wilkinson/Wilson and pocket the different. The secret here is you should never ever buy ShawX back again. So if you have a player you bought cheap and you think they are a good pick then never sell them.

      TV is a pointless stat, its all about having a high selling value

    Bego, Jussi
    Azp, O'Brien, Mariappa, Gibbs, Martin R

    I can't decide whether I want Bale enough to put him in my WC team...he'd stretch my budget to it's limits if it's for Fella or Michu but there's also the option of getting him instead of Walcott. Can't make up my mind about this. I've never been a huge Bale fan but I know he can produce some devastating performances...he might be a good differential compared to Fellaini/Michu. Anyone got any thoughts to bring to the table?

      Given Norwich's poor form I'd go for Bale this GW. I'm not a fan of him either, but his 'explosive' potential this GW is probably better than Fellaini/Michu/Walcott.

    Who is the best QPR defender to get? Fabio, Onuoha or Nelsen considering Nelsen is poised to leave soon.

    What do you think? (Using WC)

    Mig, Bunn
    Rafael, Azpilicueta, Davies, Cameron, Harte
    Mata, Walcott, Bale, Michu, Fellaini
    RVP, Fletcher, Pog
    With 0.3 in the bank.

    Or I could do:
    Fellaini->Walters
    Harte -> Naughton
    and be left with 1m in the bank.

    Or I could do:
    Fellaini -> Walters
    Cameron -> Distin
    and be left with nothing in the bank.

    I plan on playing a 5 man midfield. The question is really about Fellaini. Good fixtures and been good so far this season, but change of position might ruin his excellent returns so far.
    People don't like Walters, but Stoke have some very decent fixtures and I can rotate him well with Pog.

            Liverpool were annoyingly good for the first 14 years of my football years.

              The earliest memory I have is the 86 FA cup final but I was too young to appreciate it really. Only started getting really into it when I was 9/10. Basically the last time we won it.

      there may be another as GW29 is currently blank if teams reach the qf.

              I made this mistake last year, it cost me what could have been a very high finish. If there is a relatively significant DGW which there normally is towards the end, load up with the WC - don't play too cautious with it.
