Fears over certain new boys’ starting roles prevented us handing places to the likes of Chris Samba and Lewis Holtby in this week’s article. Instead, we tread a path less risky and roll out three overlooked forwards with game time guaranteed and favourable home ties on their respective agendas this weekend.

Loic Remy

QPR’s record buy made an instant impact on his debut, notching within 15 minutes in a 1-1 draw at West Ham in Gameweek 23. Shackled by City’s backline on his first appearance in front of the Loftus Road faithful in midweek, Remy will be looking to return to goalscoring ways as Norwich roll up to Loftus Road tomorrow.

Harry Redknapp’s side are now unbeaten in four and with home draws against Spurs and City, the R’s will be confident of overcoming a Canaries side that have conceded in 10 of the last 11 Gameweeks. Handed the role of the lone striker in a 4-2-3-1 with Adel Taarabt pulling the strings behind him, Remy has played every minute of his two matches so far and offers guaranteed game time and a security of starts that could well see him prosper this weekend and beyond.

The Loftus Road outfit have six enticing looking fixtures in the following seven Gameweeks (swa, sou, SUN, avl, ful, WIG) which certainly bode well for their chances of survival and affords plenty reason for optimism. Priced 6.0 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) and 8.0 in the Sky Sports game, Remy has the potential to prove a mid-price bargain as Redknapp turns to the former Marseille man to fire his side out the drop zone.

Victor Anichebe

So often a peripheral figure at Goodison, the Nigerian has enjoyed a recent run of games which affords Fantasy managers with an intriguing budget option to consider. Mainly utilised on the right due to a recent injury to Kevin Mirallas, the versatile Anichebe was shifted to the lone forward role last Wednesday as David Moyes dropped the off-form Nikica Jelavic to the bench.

An assist in the 2-1 triumph over West Brom maintained a run of form which has now harvested attacking returns in five of the last seven Gameweeks, with four bonus points also thrown in for good measure across that period. Priced at a mere 4.3 in FPL and 6.8 in the Sky Sports game, and with an ownership under 2% in FPL, Anichebe now welcomes Villa to Merseyside tomorrow. Given the game time, he is clearly capable of producing and looks superb value against an out-of-sorts side that have conceded two or more in all but one of their last seven.

Franco Di Santo

The departure of Arouna Kone to the African Cup of Nations has considerably boosted the Argentine’s appeal of late. Moved into the lone forward role vacated by the Ivorian, Di Santo has flourished – scoring in two of the last three, with a couple of bonus points also accrued.

Roberto Martinez’s side welcome Southampton to the DW tomorrow and, from an attacking perspective at least, are starting to finding their form – Tuesday’s 2-2 draw at Stoke meant Wigan have notched twice in back-to-back matches for the first time since Gameweek 3. With an upturn in offensive threat, the Latics will be confident of seeing off the Saints and Di Santo, at just 5.3 in FPL and 7.5 in the Sky Sports game, could appeal to those looking for a real short-term differential gamble, with Kone’s return from international duties later this month likely to see Di Santo move back out wide.

could i get people opinions please. not sure what to do with my team, if i should make a transfer or not. if i should who should i bring in.

i was thinking Bale but that would mean i do two transfers and take a hit but im open to doing that.

    Federici
    Davies - R. Martin - Harte
    Michu - Walcott - Mata - Santi
    Flecther - RVP - Saurez

    Subs:: Bego - Clyne - Puncheon - O'Brien

    All suggestions are welcome, thanks.

    Hitchcock...

People need to move on.. Vertigo has 'just' been voted the best film ever... What?.. Why now? It replaced Citizen Kane, another dinosaur. NBNW, Psycho, Vertigo, Rear window and the innovative Rope were all great films but todays generation will not be overly impressed I feel

I would never suggest you don't try them, but be prepared to be a tad underwhelmed....

Attention spans have shortened. I'm not sure if anyone has done studies on the average time between cuts over the decades, but I'm almost certain it has shortened dramatically.

I think it's for the worse. I watch old films for their patience. Patience is its own reward. The first time I watched 2001, I couldn't stand the length of each shot. Now I drink it in.

Actually although I agree with the attention span thing, in terms of film length the opposite is strangely true. Hitchcock in particular was known for short snappy movies, compare that to the likes of the Hobbit and many of the films for the last five years and you'll see on average they are at least 30mins longer than they were 20 years ago. Heard that recently on a radio show.

Don't talk daft, they are still great movies. A great story doesn't need CGI or lasses with their tits hanging out, it needs nothing but a quality cast and director. Hitchcock and the likes of Jimmy Stewart are great!
I love the oldies, massive fan of Bogart and films like The Big Sleep Maltese Falcon etc are still some of my favourites. Vertigo is a superb film, best ever? I dunno, I don't like those lists, waaaay too subjective. 😛

It's what today's generation needs though. It's the same with video games.

I'm all for playing some old school Super Mario, but give that to your average 16 year old now and they'd laugh in your face.

Wildcard played, slight feeling of regret. My last wildcard was glorious, I have a feeling that this one isn't going to be as successful. I'll not bother going through it, but I was wondering when this game stopped being just a bit of fun and became seriously competitive? Why do I have a strange feeling of guilt/trepidation about picking players that are not 'safe' picks?
Balls to it, wildcards are a nuisance.

Great team sir, you've done well.

With that said, I believe Michu & Fellaini are neck & neck in their ability to score.

In fact, Fellaini has a better ppg than Michu this year.

As a result, I'm thinking you should make a change.

Finally, even if Michu does edge out Fellaini surely the cash you save & use to upgrade elsewhere will more then make up for the difference...

    Any thoughts on this?

    4-4-2 with playing cheap subs

    Begovic (Bunn)
Baines / Clichy / Azpilicueta / Davies (Stam)
Mata / Walcott / Silva / Michu (Guthrie)
    Van Persie / Suarez (Anichebe)

GW 25: Baines -> Jose Enrique
    GW 26: Michu -> Bale

Any questions on Reading? The cheap, yet reasonably in form people? About to go to bed, but like talking about my team and I have suprising knowledge if there are any questions..

Cant believe we bid 11mill for Siggurdson 🙁 Im sure we knew it wouldnt be accepted.

He only played 45 mins.. He wasn't match fit and looked awful vs WBA (only 45 mins he played).

Previous Sporting captain by all accounts.

McDermott said he needs match fitness, hence not being in the FA Cup team vs Sheff Utd. So not dropped, just not fit. McDermott did speak highly of him.

He has apparently played 8 mins this season prior to that game..due to a contract dispute, hence signing for Reading.

Shame, he should be playing every week. Wasted talent at Spurs.

I agree its a shame, but he is better than Reading tbh. Could have signed in the summer, but decided to aim higher.

Shame he has failed at Hoffeinheim and Spurs, I really think he IS champions league quality...

    Hey guys.

Looking for a 5th mid to warm the bench.
Ideally 4.5 or below, regular starter... some chance of getting near the opposition box.

    Best shout?
    Cheers
