Another Wayne Rooney goal, another Robin Van Persie blank – United’s hard-fought victory at the Cottage added further fuel to the fire for Fantasy managers. Here’s the Stock Check on Saturday’s evening kick-off…

On the Up

Wayne Rooney
Despite being moved to the left midway through the second-half, the former Everton man secured the points with a calm finish. Having grabbed a double last time out against Southampton, Rooney is staking a real case for consideration either as an alternative or partner for Robin Van Persie in our forward lines and looks a real differential with Fantasy Premier League (FPL) ownership under 7%. His consistency of late has been staggering – tonight’s goal made it eight in the last six league starts.

Jonny Evans
His return to the starting lineup made an immediate difference at the Cottage. United had registered clean sheets in each of Evans’ previous two appearances – given they had conceded in the last three without him, his calming influence at the back looks to be a major factor. With the assist for Rooney’s goal, Evans looks set to earn FPL bonus points to cap another assured display.

Going Down

Robin Van Persie
The Dutchman has now registered back-to-back blanks – coinciding with Rooney’s return to the starting XI. The Dutchman had produced in each of his previous ten and while there’s no doubting his consistency over the season, many are now contemplating a switch as mini-leagues start to heat up with the quest for differentials becoming a key factor. With a favourable run of fixtures ahead, Van Persie’s owners will be confident of a return to form but Rooney’s kinder 11.8 FPL price tag liberates budget to be utilised elsewhere.

Antonio Valencia
Handed a start on the right in a 4-4-2, the former Wigan man disappointed yet again and was hauled off on 65 minutes. It’s a single assist in 11 appearances now for Valencia and with Danny Welbeck and Shinji Kagawa pushing for game time, he could well return to the periphery once more. Fantasy managers have been deprived of an assured midfield asset in the United squad all season: there is little sign of that situation changing.

Brede Hangeland
Owned by more than 6% of the Fantasy Premier League player base, Hangeland has been a major disappointment so far this season: yet again he’s without a goal and, with just three clean sheets, his return have failed to live up to a pre-season billing which hailed him as a potential bargain. Tonight the Norwegian suffered his latest setback, withdrawn at half-time with a knock, rumoured to be an Achilles problem, which may now make him a doubt for Fulham’s next outing at Norwich.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

seriously? he's not playing mid, he had a more defensive role v Arsenal so pool could use Sturridge' pace on the counter. if anything he has a free role. he won't stop scoring.

He has played every game as a mid with Sturridge on the pitch. First game he was in the hole second one on the wing, third one on the wing too. His shot numbers have dropped too especially the ones in the box which is the most important stat.

Hi guys, which transfer is better for DGW? Just done Podolski to Suarez with my FT. (Also got Davies and Michu)

So could now do for a hit:

    A: Fellaini to Gerrard
    B: Cameron to GJ
    C: Demel to Enrique

C is the most sensible as I would only need to use one transfer to field a good team next week but is the most boring!

As a pro footballer playing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world are you proud? Do you search your soul a little, if the leaders of that gladiatorial ring has 65 points and your fellow gladiators have amassed 17.

Do you doubt yourself? Or are you content with the fact you have amassed a good bank account because you just happen to be athletic and reasonably good at football?

Can you afford Enrique over Evans? If not, i think i prefer Santon to Evans for the next 4/5 GW's.

-More nailed on, even though Evans should play the majority too.
      - More attacking
      - Newcastle looking good again
      - Good fixtures
      - Will definitely play in GW 29, despite the FA Cup games

For now i'm not jumping on the Sissoko bandwagon because he isn't a regular goal scorer and it's far too early but i think Coutinho will tear it up for .5 extra in a week or 2. there's no way that he isn't going to score pts most of the teams won't be able to handle his dribbling and speed. he'll start over Downing and should score by assisting Suarez and Sturridge plus he's not involved in the Europa.

People will compare him with Oscar but they're nowhere near the same player, also Coutinho is more prepared body wise since he's done weights and Oscar hasn't but still done alright.

I'll look at Holtby also before getting Sissoko, but for Sissoko at his price he's a bargain only if he continues scoring which i don't think he will.

He looks sharp and is playing in "the hole" behind Cisse. I reckon he will continue to score and assist. We'll see about Coutinho when he is injury free. But as an LFC supporter I'm hoping 🙂 Holtby also looks an enticing option. But it's still uncertain how much he will play. 7.5 is allot on a gamble atm.

Could do with a bit of help with working Liverpool coverage in for the double, I have 2FT and .2 in the bank. Team is currently:

    Begovic, Bunn
    Baines, Davies, Turner, Harte, Demel
    Bale, Mata, Walcott, Fellaini, Michu
    RVP, Aguero, Pog

I'm not prepared to sell RVP or Aguero and I can't justify taking out one of the expensive mids - Bale has NEW, Mata has WIG and Walcott has sun. I can't see it being worth 2 transfers to take out any of them for a scouser then get them back the next week, especially since any of them can do serious damage in one game. I also value Pog's in the squad, while I firmly believe he is crap it will be useful to have him at home to Wigan to cover the GW27 blank.

This leaves me with very limited options on who I can sell, thinking Fellaini to *vomits* Henderson or Downing and Baines to GJ(c). I might be able to do Fellaini to Gerrard and Baines to Enrique depending on price rises this week but think I'm going to be .1 short.

Happy with my Swans coverage and in GW27 I can ditch the double Liverpool for Baines and Sissoko.

How does this all sound and does anyone have any ideas on getting better Liverpool coverage into my team?

It's difficult alright with the guys you want to keep. I like the idea of henderson to be honest. Would like to get gerrard but i can't afford. Henderson is on the up anyway. I agree that baines out is the way to go but i'd have gj over enrique

Yeah, I definitely want GJ. Enrique is only an alternative if it finances Gerrard, though I expect to be 0.1 short.

Kun is my key differential though, which is needed with my bad (but improving) rank. Away to Southampton isn't daunting.

It is only one game though, could get Kun straight back after. I'll have to give this more thought.

Have to agree with with Roys. Then you can captain Suarez.

However if you think Liverpool with keep 2 clean sheets, Baines -> GJ and Begovic -> Reina is an option. Not the most flash but an option nevertheless.

I'm considering getting Reina for 4 point hit and playing him for the next 6 GWs. Admittedly they only have 2 home games (TOT, WHM) over that period, but the away games are wig, sot, avl, wig so I can see a few away clean sheets.

Yeah I know but thinking about selling him - concerned about rotation over the next month. It's a lot of money to have tied up in a player who is not an automatic captain choice.

374 in the worlds. I am nervous. Took a risk on my WC this week getting Studge, GJ, Davies, De Guz, Michu. Will save the FT next week and transfer 2 out for GW 27. Wondering do people think it will pay off gambling on a Swansea revival. I'm in for a thrill regardless!
