Another Wayne Rooney goal, another Robin Van Persie blank – United’s hard-fought victory at the Cottage added further fuel to the fire for Fantasy managers. Here’s the Stock Check on Saturday’s evening kick-off…

On the Up

Wayne Rooney
Despite being moved to the left midway through the second-half, the former Everton man secured the points with a calm finish. Having grabbed a double last time out against Southampton, Rooney is staking a real case for consideration either as an alternative or partner for Robin Van Persie in our forward lines and looks a real differential with Fantasy Premier League (FPL) ownership under 7%. His consistency of late has been staggering – tonight’s goal made it eight in the last six league starts.

Jonny Evans
His return to the starting lineup made an immediate difference at the Cottage. United had registered clean sheets in each of Evans’ previous two appearances – given they had conceded in the last three without him, his calming influence at the back looks to be a major factor. With the assist for Rooney’s goal, Evans looks set to earn FPL bonus points to cap another assured display.

Going Down

Robin Van Persie
The Dutchman has now registered back-to-back blanks – coinciding with Rooney’s return to the starting XI. The Dutchman had produced in each of his previous ten and while there’s no doubting his consistency over the season, many are now contemplating a switch as mini-leagues start to heat up with the quest for differentials becoming a key factor. With a favourable run of fixtures ahead, Van Persie’s owners will be confident of a return to form but Rooney’s kinder 11.8 FPL price tag liberates budget to be utilised elsewhere.

Antonio Valencia
Handed a start on the right in a 4-4-2, the former Wigan man disappointed yet again and was hauled off on 65 minutes. It’s a single assist in 11 appearances now for Valencia and with Danny Welbeck and Shinji Kagawa pushing for game time, he could well return to the periphery once more. Fantasy managers have been deprived of an assured midfield asset in the United squad all season: there is little sign of that situation changing.

Brede Hangeland
Owned by more than 6% of the Fantasy Premier League player base, Hangeland has been a major disappointment so far this season: yet again he’s without a goal and, with just three clean sheets, his return have failed to live up to a pre-season billing which hailed him as a potential bargain. Tonight the Norwegian suffered his latest setback, withdrawn at half-time with a knock, rumoured to be an Achilles problem, which may now make him a doubt for Fulham’s next outing at Norwich.

God damn I can't find a way to get suarez in without 8 point hit!
Unless rvp => suarez, but rvp selling value on 13.5 makes me think it's not worth it.

I suppose I take that price rise for Suarez tonight and watch city game tomorrow, hoping just a little temper losing madness for that one Luis...

does downing start for liverpool all the time now?

    am contemplating for next week....

bale tevez lamber -> downing suarez sturridge for the DGW, that would cost me 4 points, and leave me with

    beg bunn

    clyne wilko demel davies zaba

    michu downing mata walcott guthrie

    suarez sturridge rvp

the next week i would but downgrade suarez, probably back to lambert, and upgrade either downing or guthrie to bale/fellaini...

    thoughts?

It would be a gamble. With Suarez, Sturridge, Suso, Sterling, Shelvey and Coutinho all could play there.

      Yep... WR, thoughts?

      RVP+Pod+Gibbs > Suarez+Sturridge+GJ (-4) **allows me to keep p5**
      Sturridge > Aguero (free)
Get RVP back GW28/29, funded by Michu > Sissoko (pending)

Plus, RVP may not play GW28 vs NOR(H), Madrid 2nd leg 3 days later..

As always getting rid of RVP is a risky move but I think it will be beneficial in the short term as I think Liverpool players will do well. I personally will avoid Suarez though so as an alternative I would consider Pod and Gibbs to Sturridge and GJ or Enrique.

And to clear things up I am not anti RVP I am just pro Rooney and both are just too much eggs in one basket. I never strongly advise anyone getting rid of RVP for Roo as I think RVP is an ok pick too especially now as he has Penalties.

Bit harsh. Breaking some poor fpl player's ankle just because they've signed a shite player.

Anyone else going without Michu for the DGW? I’m considering just doing Ba and Gibbs –> Suarez Enrique? Mad?

    team atm..

    bego, 3.9
    rafael,davies*,demel,mariappa,wilson
    mata,michu*,fellaini,bale,walcott
    Rvp,suarez*,pog

    2.5 mil in the bank

lost on last page...so a repost

    really undecided what to do…

OPTION 1- demel and bale > enrique and gerrard (-4)
then gw 27 gerrard>bale and field only 10 as swapping davies or enrique to another defender for -4 would not be wise. this gives me 5 dgw players for -2 points but 10 players on gw27.

OPTION 2- keep calm and just do demel> GJ and then on gw 27 GJ>zaba and have 4 dgw players for no hits and field a proper 11 on gw27.

any additions to these options would be appreciated. a little help for the newbie please 🙂

    Gibbs + Ba >

    a) GJ + Sturridge

    or

    b) £4.1m + Suarez

I think Benteke is the third striker to have (or Lambert) for much of the rest of the season...he and Lambert are going to have to score a lot of goals to keep their clubs up...watch this space

I’d appreciate your advice guys…having trouble with my decision for dgwk, not sure if I should change my midfield or not. I have 2 FT. Thinking after dgwk of doing Michu > Sissokho

    Bunn Federici
    Rafael Davies Cameron RMartin Demel
    Walcott Bale Fellaini Michu Mata
    RVP Fletcher Pog

    a) RVP Fletcher > Suarez Sturridge free
    b) Walcott Fletcher > Gerrard Sturridge free
    c) Bale Fletcher > Gerrard Sturridge free
    d) Walcott Bale Fletcher > Gerrard Suarez Walters -4pts
    e) Walcott Fellaini Fletcher > Gerrard Suarez Kebe -4pts
