A busy Friday edging closer to its conclusion with the arrival of our late-evening regular. As always, we roll out a trio of overlooked contenders for your consideration, with a pony-tailed protagonist braced for a trip to the midlands taking centre-stage.

Andy Carroll

Unwanted at Liverpool, loaned out to West Ham, sidelined for months with a knee injury – that pretty much sums up the forward’s season so far. Returning to the Hammers’ starting XI for the first time since Gameweek 14 last weekend, Carroll hit the headlines for all the right reasons, however, with a goal and maximum Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points proving the difference against Swansea.

As Sam Allardyce’s side prepare for a schedule that sees them square up to Spurs, United and Chelsea in the next five, in addition to a trip to Stoke, tomorrow’s trip to out-of-sorts Villa is more crucial than ever. As Marouane Fellaini demonstrated for Everton last weekend, Paul Lambert’s side are far from comfortable against a dominant aerial presence in the box – Allardyce will have his wide men tasked with firing crosses aplenty into the area as Carroll look to get the better of Ron Vlaar and co, with Kevin Nolan primed for any knock-downs. Coming in at 8.2 in FPL and 8.6 in the Sky Sports game, he’s far from cut-price but with ownership of less than 1%, Carroll could be a real weekend differential against a side that has conceded at least twice in all but one of the last eight Gameweeks.

Jon Walters

Tony Pulis will be hoping the Republic of Ireland international can rediscover his goal touch as Reading roll up to the Britannia this weekend. Stoke’s home form, so often the foundation of their Premier League success, has been far from impressive of late – the Potters have won just two of the last six in front of their own fans but intriguingly, both those wins have come about thanks to crucial strikes from Walters.

A goal in the 2-1 win over Newcastle in Gameweek 14, in addition to a brace in the 3-1 triumph over Liverpool five matches later, highlights the midfielder’s potential ahead of a clash with a Royals side that have conceded in every away match this term. So far, Walters has grabbed five goals and three assists and has racked up 94 FPL points; second only to Asmir Begovic for Pulis’ side.

Coming in at 6.4 in FPL and 7.9 in the Sky Sports game, with an ownership currently sitting at 6%, Walters has a decent upcoming run of fixtures on the horizon which could bolster his appeal and suggests he’s worth holding onto beyond this weekend, with a trip to Fulham and home clashes with West Ham and West Brom just around the corner.

Alfred N’Diaye

While Newcastle’s Moussa Sissoko has stolen the goalscoring headlines so far, another new north east acquisition has been backed to find the net. N’Diaye chipped in with an assist on his first start for Sunderland and also came close to notching against Reading last time out – his physical presence and energetic displays looks crucial to the Black Cats’ cause this weekend as Arsenal roll up to the Stadium of Light.

With three wins in their last five at home, including a victory over City, O’Neill’s men have proven a different prospect altogether on Wearside. While the likes of Steven Fletcher and Adam Johnson are the men most likely, N’Diaye – priced at just 4.5 in FPL and 5.1 in the Sky Sports game – has barged his way into the Sunderland starting XI since arriving last month and could be a real cut-price contender to consider, with a strong upcoming schedule to follow (wba, FUL, qpr, NOR) to follow directly after.

Hey guys, just finished work for the night, gotta do my team before early rise tomorrow and need some last minute advice. Is Giroud -> Sturridge and Onouha -> Enrique worth the 4 point hit you reckon? Been talking myself out of the double all week and am now knee-jerking

Looking at your team I would say it isn't worth it.

SWA and LIV have a blank next week, and your already have Gorkss who won't play, and Remy & Onouha as a doubt.

      Just get Sturridge.

My worry is my mini league rival, sure he'll play for the double and my nine point lead isn't strong enough to go in weak. If if it keeps me ahead, it's worth it...I think

But you would need to take, at least, another hit to field 11 in GW27. That means that Enrique would need 10 points for it to pay off, assuming you can play some other defender who gets at least 2 points this week.

Anyway, Enrique has just come back from injury, and with the EL fixture on Thursday I think he might get rested for one of the games.

Walcott I don't understand. RVP neither. Alot of people want Gerrard in this week and if you were saying only losing 0.1 on Fellani with man utd away this week then the moves is logical. Easily to Gerrard to Fellani this week as you have made 0.1, likely 0.2 on Gerrard (after Saturday)

RVP falling is justified imo. At that price you expect 10+ from him every week, and now that there madrid game is near, he is a rotation risk too. OR I'm just trying to find excuses for getting rid of RVP myself

Suppose people wanted to capitalize on RvP.. They seen Rooney do so well lately and decided RvP just doesn't justify his price..
Taking him out free up much needed cash for a lot of people.
Suarez, aguero even Rooney , gerrard seen as better options..

Fellaini hasn't been great lately. He scored a couple last time but has been playing rather deep of late. I think many wanted Gerrard/ michu in

Wally may have reached his peak too.
He is no longer starting up front.. He is still quite effective out wide but the likes of bale, Gerrard, Michu hovering- enough is enough.

Think they are the main and simple reasons these guys who had been going so well are not as popular as they once were..
Not flavor of the month.. For good or bad we ll see!

          mun, nor, RDG, probable blank

Missing the middle two is a shame but having Walcott and Fellaini come GW29 is likely to cause a problem.

Im a Liverpool-fan and its a decent punt. Not great, but okay enough. He has improved a LOT the last 5-6 games, and his place in the starting 11 is fully deserved, and he plays ahead of Lucas and Gerrard in that 3-man midfield. He could very well get something, but hes better when teams give up space, which i really dont see either of WBA or Swansea do away at Anfield.

Maybe Downing is better in that price range, as he plays more up front.

Downing has good stats, and he`s probably a little better shout than Hendo. Close, though. They both look nailed on as well.

Well minutes suggest otherwise, Especially as Suarez looks like he can play all positions in the front 4 probably sturridge as well. Now there is Coutinho also in the mix. So lets say Suarez and Sturr probably play every week that leaves 2 positions for 4 players. I think he will probably start one and come of the bench in the other one. And leave you with a useless player long term.

yep. Our only close competition is Hull City who we are tied with on points, with equal games, but we have a massive +Goal Difference.
If us and Hull both lost a game each, we would still be in the best position to get automatic promotion. XXXcited!

What do people think is an acceptable amount of points hit for the next two gameweek to account for drafting in / out Liverpool & Swansea players?

Only hindsight will show what was acceptable as it all hinges on how many points you gain. It will cost me 8pts to get Gerrard in and out again instead of Cazorla but I am captaining him

Of course the benefit of hindsight would ideal, but sadly we do not have such a luxuary.

I'm between spending 8-12 points total over the next two weeks, trying to figure out if it's a risk worth taking!

I have Guthrie Demel as well as 4 DGW ers. This means I need to take -4 pointer in order to field 10 😯
