A busy Friday edging closer to its conclusion with the arrival of our late-evening regular. As always, we roll out a trio of overlooked contenders for your consideration, with a pony-tailed protagonist braced for a trip to the midlands taking centre-stage.

Andy Carroll

Unwanted at Liverpool, loaned out to West Ham, sidelined for months with a knee injury – that pretty much sums up the forward’s season so far. Returning to the Hammers’ starting XI for the first time since Gameweek 14 last weekend, Carroll hit the headlines for all the right reasons, however, with a goal and maximum Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points proving the difference against Swansea.

As Sam Allardyce’s side prepare for a schedule that sees them square up to Spurs, United and Chelsea in the next five, in addition to a trip to Stoke, tomorrow’s trip to out-of-sorts Villa is more crucial than ever. As Marouane Fellaini demonstrated for Everton last weekend, Paul Lambert’s side are far from comfortable against a dominant aerial presence in the box – Allardyce will have his wide men tasked with firing crosses aplenty into the area as Carroll look to get the better of Ron Vlaar and co, with Kevin Nolan primed for any knock-downs. Coming in at 8.2 in FPL and 8.6 in the Sky Sports game, he’s far from cut-price but with ownership of less than 1%, Carroll could be a real weekend differential against a side that has conceded at least twice in all but one of the last eight Gameweeks.

Jon Walters

Tony Pulis will be hoping the Republic of Ireland international can rediscover his goal touch as Reading roll up to the Britannia this weekend. Stoke’s home form, so often the foundation of their Premier League success, has been far from impressive of late – the Potters have won just two of the last six in front of their own fans but intriguingly, both those wins have come about thanks to crucial strikes from Walters.

A goal in the 2-1 win over Newcastle in Gameweek 14, in addition to a brace in the 3-1 triumph over Liverpool five matches later, highlights the midfielder’s potential ahead of a clash with a Royals side that have conceded in every away match this term. So far, Walters has grabbed five goals and three assists and has racked up 94 FPL points; second only to Asmir Begovic for Pulis’ side.

Coming in at 6.4 in FPL and 7.9 in the Sky Sports game, with an ownership currently sitting at 6%, Walters has a decent upcoming run of fixtures on the horizon which could bolster his appeal and suggests he’s worth holding onto beyond this weekend, with a trip to Fulham and home clashes with West Ham and West Brom just around the corner.

Alfred N’Diaye

While Newcastle’s Moussa Sissoko has stolen the goalscoring headlines so far, another new north east acquisition has been backed to find the net. N’Diaye chipped in with an assist on his first start for Sunderland and also came close to notching against Reading last time out – his physical presence and energetic displays looks crucial to the Black Cats’ cause this weekend as Arsenal roll up to the Stadium of Light.

With three wins in their last five at home, including a victory over City, O’Neill’s men have proven a different prospect altogether on Wearside. While the likes of Steven Fletcher and Adam Johnson are the men most likely, N’Diaye – priced at just 4.5 in FPL and 5.1 in the Sky Sports game – has barged his way into the Sunderland starting XI since arriving last month and could be a real cut-price contender to consider, with a strong upcoming schedule to follow (wba, FUL, qpr, NOR) to follow directly after.

Two options below guys - A) leaves me able to field 11 in GW27 (after 2 transfers) B) gives me the potential of Gerrard and 10 players (after two transfers) in GW27 - what do you think?

    cesar (feds)
    Baines, Enrique, Davies (Harte) (Clyne)
    Mata, Bale, Michu, Walcott, Hernandez
    RVP, Sturridge (Lambert)

    cesar (feds)
    Johnson, Harte, Davies (Demel) (Clyne)

IRELAND ......... The only place where........

    • When you were young, you went to bed when Glenroe was over,
    • If you die from alcohol poisoning, you're considered a lightweight,
    • 'Fook off' means 'Are you serious?', ... ...
    • The person that you insult most is probably your best friend,
    • Saying 'I will yea' means that you definitely won't,
    • 'Fook it, its grand' means that you couldn't be bother finish it properly,
    • 'Hes fond of a drink' means he suffers from severe life-threatening alcoholism,
    • Saying you're going for a drink means you might not be seen again for 3 days,
    • Crisps are called 'Taytos' and fizzy drinks are called 'minerals',
    • 'For the craic' is the best reason for doing anything,
    • The best cure for a hangover is more drink,
    • Nobody can go a day without saying 'Jaysus',
    • 'Meeting' has a double meaning,
    • Tea is the solution to every problem,
    • And water is the solution to every GAA injury,
    • 'I got stuck behind a tractor' is a perfectly valid reason for being late,
    • We eat Tayto sambos for lunch, and ham sandwiches on the way to Croke Park,
    • You can insert the name of a gardening tool into any sentence and it still makes sense, e.g. 'I had a rake of drink last night' or 'I'll be out in a minute, I'm just shoveling down the dinner',
    • GAA is considered religion,
    • Its perfectly acceptable to call your mother 'mammy' even though you are a fully grown adult,
    • Saying 'Now we're sucking diesel' means that you are happy with the outcome of the situation,
    • Drinking 'tae' is everyone's favourite past time,
    • You're scared of the wooden spoon,
    • The word 'like' goes in every sentence,
    • You can say 'Any craic' to a garda and you won't get arrested,
    • 'The dogs' bollocks' means something is brilliant.....

          agreed,(altho borrowed it)

Horizon is different kettle of fish - free roam - better grahics - street races - amazing size
combines best of NfS and Forza

Any one else think this gameweek sucks, decisions about the dgwers driving me mental
    Already have Davies and Michu

    Basically other options are
    A) Enrique, Sturridge and Gerrard (effectively -8 point hit)
    B) Johnson, Gerard and Fletcher (no hit)
    C) Suarez, Rangel and Fellaini (no hit)

I'm doing well so don't think I need to take risks but at the same time this week could be a disaster and I could fall quickly down the rankings

Ok lads, not worried by this GW, think I'm pretty set, but I'm worried about next week, mainly as i can;t be sure Guthrie will play

    Migs

    Rafa, Zaba, Pearce, Turner

    Mata, Theo, Fellaini, Guthrie

    RvP, Aguero

    Bunn, Sturridge, Michu, Davies

Would only have 0.1 to spare and 0 FTs (Suarez to Aguero will be my FT). What to do?

Nothing for it but to stick or take a hit, and the only likely hit is sturridge to someone (Berb?). Think I'd stick and hope.

Its definately a good game week for the chasers, punts could be had and big leads drastically reduced. Im with you bricking it, know I will choose the wrong players

Baines to GJ for a hit?

    worth it?

would be doubling the liverpool defence with Reina.

Later, and good luck this GW.

Ba not eligible for Champions League so prob nailed on for a start, whereas Dzeko is always a rotation risk. However, this is Rafa we're talking about...

Suarez (C) over Gerrard (C)? Is this because less people have Gerrard in their team and read the captains poll question as "which of your players is best captian choice" rather than "which player is best captain choice"

Or is Suarez really that much of a better shout?

Both good shouts, but for me Suarez has a better chance of scoring BIG. Gerrard's consistency does suggest he might be the safer option however. Although it really is a complete toss-up.

Gerrard for me, studge may only pay one, or it could flair up again, Suarez still scoring well but out on the wing. Gerrard also on FK's and pens

    evening guys.

i have 2ft and my wc left. I have 0 LFC but 2 Swansea players. I'm thinking of -4 pts to get Gerrard Sturridge and Johnson tonight.

I thne WC next week as I think (1) it's a good time to WC and (2) the only possible DGW from here on in after this is GW29 with Arsenal and Everton possibly (probably).

Any advice on whether this is sound logic would be much appreciated

    Thanks

Nope. Don't take a hit. Get 2 pool players and field 11 without a hit (if all other players are starters). GW29 may have 2 blanks with a DGW later. There is also a possibility for blanks in GW33 as the FA Cup semis clash with the PL matches. I'd say save the WC. Atleast that's what I am doing.
