We’re down to the final 128 teams in this year’s instalment of the Members Cup as Gameweek 27 saw some big community names fall by the wayside including “Doosra”, “Back Back Ballack”s “dribbler” and “Gaz Downright”, among others.

“Evs”, now up to 20th spot in the overall rankings, navigated passed “CHUBBY” by a convincing 60 vs 41 scoreline but fellow big hitter, Jonah, slipped out of the tournament: despite being tenth in the overall FPL standings, he made way as “Dilley” put pay to his campaign by a narrow three point margin (42 vs 39).

Previous Cup winner, “Fuzzy Dunlop” is going strong thanks to a 40 vs 32 win over “DBREADY” but fellow Hall of Famer, “Kippax Kikkers”, departs the tournament, turned over by “BlzBob” in a close 38 vs 34 encounter.

As for the contributors, Paul continues to fly the flag – he made it through to Round Three thanks to a 46 vs 37 victory over Rossaldinho, as Big Dunc went out to “mcginley50”.

The draw for the next round will be published tomorrow afternoon.

      It is actually a small bug that should be fixed for next season- sorry! When you are picking a captain, you are not interested in the player's expected points, you are interesting in their expected points given that they take part in the game, which can be very different for players who are rotation risks. (We calculate both but only display the former.) When I wrote the programme to select captain and vice, it correctly uses the expected points score given that a player takes part for captaincy AND vice captaincy. For vice-captaincy it should use expected points only to rank as if you're vice misses out you don't get another captain after that! It's a very small issue that I only realised a few weeks ago was wrong!
      
      So actually, it could be the right thing to captain Rooney over other options who have lower expected scores though it definitely isn't the right thing to vice captain a player with a lower expected score than others.

        Would it also take into account that say if RVP was your captain, having Hernandez as vice captain might be a better option than another players who might score higher based on chances of playing?
        
        (as more likely Hernandez be playing if RVP is not)
