The ScoutCast – Episode Ninety Eight – Splutter

The ScoutCast emerges from under the duvet, Lemsip soaked and coughing and spluttering its way towards a century of episodes. After a two-week break, the full crew are assembled as Granville joins me to celebrate his Gameweek victory, Professor Chris Atkinson returns from the slopes to charge up his “Rate My Team” computer and Jonty chips in with another community-powered “Full Jonty”.

Around this we discuss the unlikely scenario of selling on Robin, give our Scout League leaders a shout-out, analyse the transfer ins and outs in “All Aboard” and look ahead to the weekend’s programme.

The “Full Jonty” rounds things off as “Ginkapo” gets the treatment, prompting a love-in with a certain Serbian left-back.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Well they lost 3-0 and from this I can tell Pearce is definitely needed as first choice. Probably as striker, I'd say.

He's first choice now so will get most games. I don't discount there will be a random game soon where Skrtel gets a start but Carragher will get the majority of starts.

could have been an easy one.. but gouffran is consistently giving 5 points for the last 3 weeks..so is it a good idea to drop him?

Just read an earlier post on the merits of keeping players for DGW's, post GW29 inttead of selling to field 11 in GW29...well that's good when considering Everton (Baines, Fell) or Arsenal (Walcott, Santi, Giroud)...but what about United....who the hell would be a good pick for assured 2 games in a DGW...?,,,I can't see anybody at all..not even RVP...Who would anybody pick ?

I'm in two minds. Also considering Fellaini out for Sissoko, such generic moves but looking at blanks etc it's difficult to decide what to do. I'll have to take hits to field 11 players next week.

10:00 The news of Ryan Giggs signing a new one-year contract inevitably dominated the press conference this morning. Here are some of the main points:
    * Ryan will be involved against Norwich and Real Madrid, says the boss. He and Paul Scholes will stay involved with the club after they retire like Nicky Butt, Brian McClair etc.

    * The boss does not think anybody will match Ryan's achievements in the game.

    * Despite some newspaper talk on Friday morning, Sir Alex hopes that any director's role at Old Trafford will be a 'long way off' for him as he continues managing the side and competing for trophies.

    * Robin van Persie is fit for Saturday after overcoming his hip injury but Phil Jones is out. The England international has a 'fighting chance' of making Tuesday's Champions League tie.

    * Sir Alex insists the players are not even thinking about midweek yet. They have all been told to focus on getting the three points against the Canaries. (AM)

There were concerns that the Dutchman might miss out after bruising his hip by colliding with a television camera during last weekend’s 2-0 win at QPR, though the striker has trained all week and will be in contention to start against the Canaries at Old Trafford.

“Tomorrow is an important one because Tuesday will look after itself. It's an occasion on Tuesday whereas tomorrow is the mundane practical situation in that we need to win.”
