The Premier League have this afternoon rearranged Fulham’s home game with Chelsea, which was initially set to take place on Sunday March 10, to Wednesday April 17 – or Gameweek 33 to you and I. At present, this gives both clubs a pair of fixtures that week, with Fulham travelling to Villa and Chelsea entertaining Tottenham at the Bridge beforehand.

This news comes with a caveat, though. If Chelsea beat United in their FA Cup Sixth Round replay on Monday April 1, their Gameweek 33 clash with Spurs will be postponed due to Semi-Final commitments and will require a new date – this would leave the Blues with just one fixture in Gameweek 33, while Spurs would face a blank. The Spurs match would need to be moved to a new Gameweek as this was initially scheduled for the weekend. Bottom line is Fulham now have a double Gameweek 33 regardless, though.

As the fixtures fall into place, the Cottagers are currently one of four clubs that will definitely face a pair of matches in Gameweeks 33, with Arsenal, Everton and West Ham also playing twice. The loser of the Chelsea – United replay will also face a double, though if United win at Stamford Bridge their trip to Stoke – scheduled for Gameweek 33 weekend – will be cancelled, leaving the Potters without a fixture that week, as United travel to West Ham in midweek.

In other words:

If Chelsea win the replay, United have a DGW33 and Spurs have a blank GW33.
If United win the replay, Chelsea have a DGW33 and Stoke have a blank GW33.

With both Swansea and West Brom both facing blanks in Gameweek 33, our planning just got that little more intricate as we attempt to deal with the FA Cup fixture fall-out. Thankfully, the situation will be afforded a little more clarity come April Fools Day.

Michu has a DGW, but if I keep him I'm not able to get Cazorla this week unless I ship Migs to Fabianski. 🙄

    What do we think lads?

If you can find 2 good weeks Michu has had in the last 7, you might want to keep him for the double.

Michu's out of form and his DGW won't be for another 5 GWs. His ownership and price will have plummeted by then, especially given his blank in GW33, making him easy to buy back.

My next 3 planned transfers are Suarez, Michu, Azpilicueta --> Giroud, Santi, Baines so my likely team for GW33 will be:

    Bego

    Baines, Enrique, Debuchy

    Walcott, Santi, Sissoko, Fellaini

    Giroud, Rooney, Sturridge

    Fed, Bale, Turner, Harte

Any major oversights with this plan? (No planned hits)

I'd be keeping Suarez until he gets his yellow (in his next 3, it's then upped to 15 yellows) - which may not even come.

Suarez to Giroud could even be done for GW33 if Suarez did get booked vs West Ham

Thanks. I plan to save my FT this week in the hope that something happens to help me decide which move to make first. I don't currently have enough to bring in Hazard/Santi so the Suarez move will be needed to fund the other transfers.

          For me yes ,

I need a replacement for sturridge and at 5mil gives me a good DGW player and spare cash to upgrade existing players

At the moment I play 352 which means I have to bench someone. Michu will soone be departing but it will mean I can bring in either hazard, santi etc

I know but if say I was doing it for the DGW...I'd be doing it in a week where Mertesacker has Reading at home...so if he keeps a CS it'd be 2 points return and then a DGW defender rather than a defender (Davies) who has no fixture in GW33...

Is that not worth breaking the rules for once?

Only 2 players I think are safe and that's Cech and Lampard. Lampard seems to be often played in league games and it's the cups when he does his bench time.

Not even Cole is safe as Bertrand will be given game time I feel.

You can always argue that it's not good to have strong principles or rules like that, but of all rules I've seen suggested on here through the years that is probably the one that will hurt you least, or even benefit you the most, to follow.

It's simply because they score fewer points on average than midfielders and strikers, and also because their hauls are harder to predict.

Gargamel I think what it comes down to is things such as:

      - Will the defender coming in, be good enough to improve your defence for all of the next X GWs, not just this one

      - Will it free cash for later transfers?

      - Will the defender coming in having better CS odds vs your 3rd best defender in coming weeks

      - Do they have DGW

Just 4 things to think about. Even if he scores 1 point more than the defender you shipped out, than the hit can quite often be worth it.

Very true, but it has to be a defender who actually keeps clean sheets. There's no point taking a hit for someone from Fulham just for the DGW IMO.

Sure. I don't follow any rules when playing this game myself, and there have been times when I have taken hits for defenders.

However, the first and third points here are very hard to predict accurately. Also, you have to consider things like if you could have done the transfer next week/s anyway for free etc.

Very very often the defender you sell for -4 will get a random clean sheet or so in the upcoming games anyway, or the one you get in will let you down somehow. Unless it's something like getting a top defender for a real cheapie I think you'll very often get things wrong.

But - and this is your point and I agree with it - not always.

As a result I'd be more inclined to take a hit when you're dealing with the best defenders.

Two, say, 5m defenders or two 4m defenders will score similarly over the upcoming period too often.

I think it's often risk vs reward.

A -4 for a defensive switch that you think is worth it over X games, is much more viable than a switch for 1 GW only.

This is where planning once again benefits, as you can work out roughly if it's worth it or not.

DDG Fab (or another cheapie if United have a DGW)
Reither, and 2 from Azpi, Zaba and Rafa (Turner)
    Fellaini, Theo, Caz, Lamps (Bale)
    Berba, Any Chubby, Rooney

    GW33 - save

GW34 - Theo/Caz and Reither to Maloney and DGW defender (Dawson/Fig/Davies)

    GW35 - Berba to Aguero

GW36 Azpi/Rafa (the non DGWer) and Afro to Hazard

Don't trust Fulham defensively over here. They've tightened up a little bit lately but I don't think I would fancy them to keep a clean sheet in any particular game until the end of the season.

I like rotating the players in his price range fast. It might hurt you but it might very well pay off. With Berba's improving form and the double I think it will probably be good. I might do it too, but not sure.

That's what I'm leaning towards for 3 reasons

        1) Both have nice single fixtures that I wouldn't feel comfortable benching them for?

        2) Do we trust Fulham's defence?

        3) It saves me a transfer later on if I just get that DGW defender now and bench him.

for me it is simply the fixtures. I dont see a single Fulham CS in the next 4 games for them. QPR fighting for relegation will score at least 1 IMO, Newcastle will score 1 probably too, Villa fighting for relegation and very attacking will score as well and the other one is Chelsea. You are purely counting on attacking output with him IMO. And they are mid table so likely to dropoff in form.

Only Berba for me out of the fulham lot .

so it looks like I will have a keeper for DGW33

If United have the DGW I'll take DDG (and swap him out in GW36) if not I'll take whichever of Chesney and Fab play this week (though I'm getting fab in essentially as a 1 week punt to begin with).

                GW32, so I can save in 33.

i have a plan from GW34 onwards to get in 4 to 5 GW36 doublers for a maximum of -4.

So I'd have about 9 in each DGW. as there are certain players who have great single GW fixtures (Bale at home to Southampton in GW36 if that's a single for example)

I will have to ship Suarez though, so I sort hope he does well, but gets a yc.

Everyone who visits it loves it - it's an amazing place to visit.

The City is so spread out. Doesn't feel like there is one central part to it.

How long you lived there? Did your work take you there?

The Liam Neeson film Unknown was being filmed when I was there. Took photos of the Mercedes at the Brandenburg Gate.

It's hard to get your head round at first, yeah.

There's the respective centre(s) of the former East and West Berlin, then there's the centres of all the suburbs, which have a totally different feel. I like it that way!

Yeah it's very versatile. Ideal for living in a city like that.

What area are you in? We stayed in Friedrichstrasse. There is a row of pubs along the canal. One of them has screens up showing price rises and falls for different beers. I really liked Charlottenburg too.

Next time you come, make sure you check out Mitte/Prenzlauerberg, Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain. Neukölln is really up-and-coming at the moment so that's worth a visit if you're a hipster 😉

That's the one mate. The Berliner! Had a few cold Pilsner in there.

There are so many places to check out. What part are you in?

Neukölln does look very hipster. Was it previously quite a run down part of the city?

What are people's thoughts on Gibbs and Sagna coming in and getting minutes instead of Monreal and Jenkinson?

I seem to be one of the few who think this will happen, as quite a lot of people have gone for Monreal without contemplating his competition.

Agreed that those getting Monreal are a bit hasty, but I don't think either will get the vast majority of minutes.

Same with Sagna and Jenkinson, especially after the latter's recent displays compared to Sagna's
