Fantasy managers were handed the first injury of the international period to consider this afternoon – before a ball has even been kicked. Theo Walcott has been ruled out of England’s upcoming fixtures against San Marino and Montenegro after reportedly injuring a groin in training last night:

At present, Arsenal have yet to comment on the situation but according to The Mirror, although the injury “is not too serious” Walcott could be set to miss next weekend’s home game with Reading. Press Association sources have also indicated he could be out “for seven to 10 days”, placing major question marks against his availability.

The news is a real concern for Fantasy managers. Walcott was hugely fancied as an armband choice for the Gameweek 31 Emirates showdown and was also rated as number one option for next weekend by Rate My Team – he will remain firmly in our thoughts, though, with a double Gameweek 33 just around the corner.

In all likelihood, his owners will hold until further news develops, with contingency plans made should be miss out. Santi Cazorla has already accrued more transfers in than any other player in the Gameweek but his appeal will surely now escalate. Indeed, transfer plans could be brought forward to snap up the Spaniard once his own pair of internationals is over – while Arsene Wenger could turn to Gervinho or Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to fill the breach on the right, their respective lack of returns holds far less promise by comparison. With the double Gameweek still three weeks away, though, there’s plenty reason for optimism that Walcott will be back in the fold and firing once again as Wenger turns the heat up on Tottenham in the race for fourth.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Well I have not thought it through at all, but with this injury news I am starting to lean towards the GW 32-33 one. Cause this week could be a nightmare for me with Mata, Rooney, Luiz, Walcott all in the risk of missing out. So -4 with punts this week and a wildcard for GW 32 or 33.

Why I am a bit reluctant to WC 32 is that I will have a great team for that week anyway.

Looking at WC 33 and having some single GW players in there who have DGW 36 like City and other players.

there could also be injuries GW 32 to muck up the 2 free transfer plan.

this was my plan. The only reason for going in 32 was to save the FT in 33

              I also have plan C:

Instead of replacing Walcott. I could ditch Rooney and hope for United not having a double GW that could mean I could put out a great side for GW 33 without my WC, but if United lose than I would put my wildcard into action.

This could also be used with Mata and other Che players, but it would be harder as I think he will play one of the 2 next games and have a great GW.

My GW32 team with no wc is below

I'd rather sell a player with no fixture.

my team in 32 would be

              Fab

              Rafa, Turner, Davies/Pearce

              Caz, Bale, Snodgrass, Siss

              Rooney, Suarez, Remy

              Migs, Zaba, Davies/Pearce, Theo

              That's IF i wc in 33.

There is always the chance this injury is completely fabricated. Wenger has a history for pulling out players on Int. duty. If Walcott even had a hint of some discomfort he'd be flown home right away. And the night before the San Marino game? How convenient!

Fact is, he's not needed for these easy games.

From what John Cross in the Mirror has already said, reckon Walcott will miss Reading game and be back for West Brom game meaning he'd be fit for dgw. Means I dont want to get rid of him. Hmm

That news put me in that mood a bit. But recent news suggest only 7-10 days out so hopefully he will manage it back for the Reading game.

Maybe there goes your most conventional captain choice next gw. Are you feeling brave enough to (c) Giroud?

Well it has always been between Giroud or Sturrdige, not feeling Walcotts form recently. I know Giroud aint scoring either but at least he is getting the shots. If there is any doubt over Sturridges gametime than it will be Giroud for sure.

Surely that's just a guess though, even if it's an educated one. The early prognosis can always change either way once he's had a proper scan.

Just keep. Worst case scenario is that you play a 4-3-2. There's some decent defensive matchups next gw too

So in the case Walcott has a slow recovery from an injury - there is no telling exactly when he is back? Could be out more than one GW.
