Our Friday night regular makes a return after the recent inconvenience brought on by internationals. This time round, our headliner is a Premier League veteran who continues to rack up the goals, while we also call upon a couple of cut-price forward alternatives who have proven superb value for money over the last few matches.

Frank Lampard

It says a lot about the displays of Juan Mata and Eden Hazard this season that Frank Lampardโ€™s Fantasy Premier League (FPL) ownership remains under 6%. The Chelsea midfielder has already notched 12 times this term โ€“ a tally he has beaten just once in the last seven campaigns โ€“ and has offered a consistency of game time under Rafa Benitez that has earned him starts in 12 of the last 13 league fixtures.

Over that run of games, Lampard has scored nine times โ€“ bearing in mind that Mata has 10 strikes to his name all season and Hazard eight, the former West Ham manโ€™s eye for goal has clearly remained crucial to the Bluesโ€™ fortunes; all the more critical when Demba Ba and Fernando Torres struggle to produce up top.

As Benitez looks to juggle his squad ahead of a run of four games in the next nine days, Lampardโ€™s regular appearances in the league suggests heโ€™s likely to get the nod at Southampton tomorrow, with a rest against United in Mondayโ€™s cup clash on the cards. With spot-kicks boosting his appeal in addition to a share of set-pieces and corners, Lampard will be confident of picking up the points at St Maryโ€™s tomorrow against a Saints side with a single clean sheet in seven under Mauricio Pochettino. Priced at 8.5 in FPL and 8.4 in the Sky Sports game, his ability to produce has even proved immune to the rotational whims of the Bluesโ€™ interm-manager.

Jay Rodriguez

With Rickie Lambert sitting third in the FPL standings, investment in any other Southampton forward has been understandably scarce. Big things were expected from the former Burnley man when Nigel Adkins broke the clubโ€™s transfer record to bring him to St Maryโ€™s last summer but itโ€™s somewhat ironic that itโ€™s taken Adkinsโ€™ departure to bring out the best in Rodriguez.

Two goals and a pair of assists in the first 22 Gameweeks were indicative of his toils, with the big-money signing struggling to nail down a first-team berth but the subsequent arrival of Mauricio Pochettino has brought Rodriguez firmly onto Fantasy radars. Handed a bench role for the Argentineโ€™s first match in charge, he has since ousted Jason Puncheon on the right and, having started six of the following seven matches, has produced attacking returns on five of those occasions.

In stark comparison to his previous displays, Rodriguez has racked up two goals and five assists over those seven fixtures, with returns against the likes of United, City and Liverpool highlighting his potential under the new man in charge. Priced at just 5.1 in FPL and 5.7 in the Sky Sports game, he looks an intriguing in-form prospect ahead of a home match against Chelsea as Pochettino plots a crucial win that would help his side pull further away from the drop zone.

Andreas Weimann

Similar to Rodriguez, Weimann has also struggled in the shadow of a more prolific team mate. With Christian Benteke leaving backlines battered and bruised across the Premier League, the young Austrian has been bypassed by Fantasy managers but as Villa start to rack up the wins, Weimann is proving almost as pivotal in his sideโ€™s survival bid.

Having started each of the last six, game time looks assured and has clearly boosted his self-belief over the last few matches โ€“ attacking returns in three of the last four sums up Weimannโ€™s new-found consistency. A goal against Arsenal and assist against Reading was followed up a goal and assist in the vital victory over QPR last time out, with Weimann also collecting the maximum bonus points as the midlanders moved seven points clear of their opponents.

Coming in at just 5.0 in FPL and 6.7 in the Sky Sports game, Weimannโ€™s flourishing form could be set to continue against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon and, having found the net in the 3-1 win at Anfield earlier this season, the Austrian will be looking to put the Merseysiders to the sword once again.

Due to injuries/suspensions and players being dropped then I played my wildcard this week, as opposed to waiting for GW33 as planned. I'm still vexed though...

    De Gea Fabianski
    Zabaleta Azpi Merter Reither Rafael
    Cazorla Coutinho Lamps Bale Schneiderlin
    Benteke Kone Berbatov
5.5M in cash to upgrade someone for the DGWs in GW33 but fairly well set up for them with this rabble.

    Is it madness or genius?

Fairly bold all round. The only major worries are Fabianski keeping his place and whether Coutinho is a good investment. And also being murdered by losing Roger Visible Pantie front line.

Hey Horizontal, how's it going? Haven't seen you on here in ages. Not sure if you remember me (I used to have a Messi grav if that helps), but good to see you on here again!

I'd recommend the same change I did on the last page, Benteke to Giroud, and change one/both of the arsenal defenders, think attack is the way to go for their double.

Not sold on Coutinho either, apart from that it looks like a good team, maybe Maloney instead of Schneiderlin for DGW potential?

Of course I remember you, BMB. And your tip for a bet which came in. ๐Ÿ™‚
I had way too many visitors this year hence my attention was distracted constantly, so I'm having a mare of a season by my standards. Trying to salvage it by taking a few risks now.
Both you and Triggalicious think my Benteke is not worth the dosh, and I'm not convinced by Coutinho either.
Hadn't really considered Giroud since he's hardly in sparkling form.
Let me go and look at some stats and I'll be back.

Can't remember exactly the bet, but do remember it was a fairly large stake on a banker with really short odds, so was rather nervous about it not coming in and a lot of money being lost!

I'm also having a pretty rubbish season, turned it around the last few weeks but still way off what I want to be.

There were some stats on the previous page (I think) that suggested Giroud was 'due', reckon with the double he could potentially score very well. He seems quite streaky, so he's the sort of player that you gotta get at the right time, he's on my watchlist for the double for sure.

It was Real Madrid vs someone. Very short odds and a very big punt but it paid for a decent holiday. ๐Ÿ™‚
I think I'll stick with Benteke for the moment but will get Giroud in for the DGW.
So then I could save two transfers and go Benteke to Giroud and Fabianski to some el cheapo GK in GW33, Coutinho to Maloney looks good though so just did that.
            Any other suggestions?

That was it, glad to hear it got you a nice holiday!

Ye that sounds like a decent plan, with regards to Giroud.

Not much else I'd suggest, I like the set up with the extra money. Guessing if United have a double you maybe try and squeeze Rooney in, if Chelsea someone like Hazard?

Just noticed you have no Everton, not sure what to suggest but I'd want at least one Everton player for the DGW.

Also, I very much like the idea of money in the bank, allows you to field a strong team for this week and allows you to be adaptable depending on the result of the FA cup game.

Now you say Osman, think that's a good way of getting some Everton, ye I agree double Wigan is too much.

Perhaps no Fabianski, means if you want another Arsenal outfield player (Walcott or Giroud) you have to waste a transfer to get them in. De Gea is a good bet for most weeks, and if United have a double you won't play Fab then anyway!

                Very true.

      That's a very expensive defence.

Perhaps lose one to upgrade Kone or Benteke to Giroud or something similar? Kone is a good pick, but more so after GW33 when he has a DGW to look forward to.

I think we'll be out for revenge after what happened at Anfield, and Villa's defence is awful. It's not just about whether it's worse than Reading's though. Say they were both 3-0, who would you favour to be in the points more – Suarez or Santi?

i reckon Santi, as i'm a gooner! haha. pod coming for wally in means santi will play in the hole; we scored 10 goals against them already this season, and walcott was the tormentor, but his pace and eye for goal won't be sorely missed as we still got the Ox!

i reckon suarez will score against weakened villa, but i think he will be jetlagged and has his mind somewhere else at times. what do you think?

Ballsy with the captain, some have suggested he won't even play (can't see that myself though). I've gone Suarez for the record.

Your midfield looks a little suspect with two Newcastle players in this week, can you bench Marv & bring a decent defender on?

Santi scored a hat trick at Reading 3 months ago when Arsenal beat them 5-1.

My theory is that Reading are not going to let him to do that again, and Arsenal will win 1-0 from a Giroud goal.
