The challenge from the Premier League may have wilted but, with the Champions League now entering into the last eight, we turn our attentions to the TotelFootball game once again, picking our contenders for another round of matches in a bid to climb the Fantasy Football Scout Private Pool and win some cash along the way.

With just three rounds remaining, the Fantasy Football Scout Private Pool is now in full swing and while new entrants will struggle to close ground on the leaders, it’s not too late to take advantage of TotelFootball’s free bet offer or put your hat in the ring for a weekly prize.

Don’t forget that, with the deadline for tonight’s game 7.45pm, we can tweak with our squads ahead of tonight’s two matches after the official squad lists are published.

The Fantasy Football Scout Pool – Current Standings

JKane89 leads the way in the Scout League so far. He’s picked up 235 points over three rounds, with a Gameweek 4 total of 86 his highest tally yet, after previous scores of 76 and 73 points. He had five players to mainly thank for that tally – Lionel Messi and Barcelona team mate Jordi Alba were joined by Schalke’s Brazilian Michel Bastos and Malaga pair Wilfredo Caballero and Isco in producing double figure points hauls.

Sitting in second spot is DLL18. He’s five points behind after a Week 4 score of 84 points, which also included the above-mentioned five players – this was also his highest haul to date, after previous rounds of 75 and 71 points. Completing the top three is a familiar name around the site. ElNinoRules slips to third place after scoring 76 points last time out. Bizarrely, he had four of those five players, with his decision to select Porto’s Helton over Caballero in goal costing him nine points – having scored 71 and 75 points in his last couple of weeks, he currently has 222 points to his name.

FFS Quarter-Finals: Week 1 Selections

We’re tripling up on Bayern for this evening’s home game with Juventus. At the back, Philipp Lahm’s attacking potential from full-back has already delivered four assists in this season’s tournament, while we’ve stuck our necks out and partnered him with Manuel Neuer in goal; given the hosts’ recent attacking form, Juventus will likely be content to frustrate for the first leg, which could lead to a home clean sheet. Franck Ribery also gets the nod in midfield – despite a brief second-half sub appearance in Saturday’s 9-2 league demolition of Hamburg, the Frenchman still warmed up for this one by grabbing a goal.

In tonight’s other match, Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba can’t be overlooked as Barcelona make their way to PSG. Alba has already notched twice from left-back in earlier rounds and offers strong potential at both ends of the pitch, while Messi has notched seven in eight so far for the visitors. Carlo Ancelotti’s men will need a goal or two in order to stand any chance of progressing – we’ve called in Javier Pastore in midfield, with two goals and a pair of assists already to his name.

Having scored eight times in their last three Champions League road trips, our faith in Dortmund is resolute as they head to Malaga. Jurgen Klopp’s side have already put four past Ajax on their travels and also scored twice at both Real Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk – with that in mind, we draft in Mario Gotze, who has produced two goals and four assists in his previous three European appearances. At the back, the attacking threat of Marcel Schmelzer gets the nod. He’s already grabbed a goal and assist in this year’s campaign and despite being subbed off with a broken nose at the weekend, is expected to play. For back-up, we’ve snapped up Lukasz Piszczek as our third Dortmund player and stuck him on the bench; he’ll be auto-subbed in if Schmelzer doesn’t make it.

Finally, we’ve gone all in on Real Madrid as Jose Mourinho’s side prepare for the visit of Galatasaray. Sergio Ramos – with four league goals to his name this term – shores up the defence, while Mesut Ozil takes our final midfield slot; four goals and nine assists in the league this season are indicative of his form. Up front, Cristiano Ronaldo takes his place alongside Messi as the La Liga side look to get one over Didier Drogba and co.

    Mignolet (Henderson)
    Zabaleta, Dawson, Davies (Pearce, Bertrand)
    Santi, Bale, Kagawa, Mata (Puncheon)
    RVP, Giroud, Sturridge

    Looking at doing:
    Sturridge to Berbatov
    Bale to Walcott
    Mata to Fellaini
    Dawson to Baines
    Mignolet to DeGea

For -12 next week and the playing my WC for GW 34 onwards.

What do the press aim to achieve by pressing Di Canio on his political views? They should be angered at the club if they believe they have appointed someone not suited to the club.

Is Di Canio supposed to say sorry I can’t take the job due to my political views?

He has been involved with football in the UK for 15 years and mostly remembered for pushing the referee against Arsenal and playing great football for whoever he played for. Lazio are notorious for their fascist views and many players have been caught up with it over the years but I don’t think that should be reason for Sunderland appointing him or not. He is there to keep them in the PL and nothing else.

I'd go for Schweiny. But I'm finding that game hard to call. Doubling up with Bonucci & Vidal and thinking of doubling with Ribery/Robben as well as Kroos - then subbing the two who come off worse out of that hedging position.

Jesus, I was wondering about whether this would come up. But to be honest I find it hard to believe Di Canio is actually a racist. He may have some silly political views but he's not a political campaigner.

Milliband might have resigned but feck Miliband! The only reason he did so is because it would sully his reputation to be associated with Di Canio. But that's about Miliband's personal career rather than an actual fear that Di Canio would use a football management job as a podium for his political beliefs.

What does a person like Miliband actually do at a football club anyway? This guy is a failed politician who stepped away because his brother got the job as leader of the Labour party. If he felt strongly about his own political career he wouldn't have allowed that finish it.

Obviously personally I don't support right-wing politics but Di Canio is not a politician. He's a football manager and people with all sorts of beliefs have ordinary jobs. They shouldn't be judged for that as to have a problem with that is itself quite fascist.

It's not just about his career neither. He comes from a European Jewish family which was persecuted in the 2nd world war by fascists.

I thought Alaba is on penalties. Ribery looks like on form and it seems that Bayern aren't doing a lot of CS this year

Playing totelfootball not UCL so cash is not a factor, and I've gone for Kroos over Ribery.

lol not sure about whether it should be highly rated, I had a shocking gameweek. Wouldn't get both! There's not much difference between the two, I just prefer Toni.

    For a freeb:

    a) Mata > Cazorla
    b) Gerrard > Cazorla
or c) Improve my defence (team linked)

Do we expect goals in the Bayern Juve game, or for it to be a tight cagey affair..?

I think it might be tight, hence why I may go Lavezzi over Muller or Mandy

Metro game, I'm 32nd in the world. No manager subs.

Would you play Eboue ahead of Dante, Schmelzer or Matuidi?

Sorry, it's one to bench from those 4. Gotta be Eboue. Just a quick sanity check.
