We now have our Quarter-Finalists for this season’s Members Cup, as the weekend programme narrowed the field further. Those eight who made progress not only keep their name in the hat for this cup, they also guarantee qualification for the inaugural Fantasy Football Scout Shield where they will face off against the last eight from this season’s earlier Paddy Power Cup over the final four Gameweeks of the season.

Eunuch Jelly is the name that everyone will want to avoid in the last eight – he is now the highest ranked manager remaining in the tournament, having destroyed Stewport, himself ranked 771st before the weekend. Acquafresca will also fancy his chances – he’s the other manager ranked in the top 1000 to progress. Fuzzy Dunlop is perhaps the manager to look out for, as a former winner of this cup, he’s been there and done it and probably still has his cup final suit.

The draw for the Quarter-Finals, to be played out over Gameweek 32, will be published tomorrow afternoon.

1 Maddocio 75 62 Rodallega Bombs
2 stewpot 57 81 Eunuch Jelly
3 mcginley50 43 68 cuihe_508
4 Fuzzy Dunlop 76 73 HitHappens
5 Avenger 66 67 www.msospace.com
6 12 inch of fury 60 56 drakesdrum
7 Acquafresca 80 55 fodowd
8 HeartOfTheCity 78 77 bgs

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Testing out a little webpage I built. Not online yet but if you post your FPL ID here I'll let you know how many points your captains scored for you this far this season. Will add some more interesting functions to it later on hopefully, and publish it for everyone to use.

My total captain score for the season is 480. Can you beat me?

By the early look of things it seems your score is low compared to your rank RCA. Probably one of the key reasons you're not ranked even higher.

            Cheers Pepin.

Just went about doing it to learn a bit myself and because Razza's script doesn't work any longer. At least I don't think it does.

As said above I'll add some more useful stuff later on, perhaps like average cap score, % of total score and number of times you hit the best or almost best cap.

Sorry mate, this is bad news for you but was what I was hoping for when I first posted. The loop crashes because you started later than in gameweek 1. Fixing that will be the first thing I do when I've counted the other scores, I'll get back to you later.

I'm so sorry everybody, went and tried to fix so it would work for players who started later than gameweek 1, but being the idiot that I am it still doesn't and now it's 02.36 in the night here and I'm too tired.

I'll log on a few times tomorrow when it works so try and catch me then if you're interested. Again, sorry to leave so many teams not done. Good night.

Obviously I have no idea what's going on, but it looks like the same old empty threats. And even if there was a strike, I don't think it would escalate into worldwide nuclear war, because North Korea will be totally isolated if they do anything and would get blown to shit.

Fergie's come out and said RVP's recent dry spell, has been down to the intensity of his first season with United. In other words he's "Burnt out"

He also said he's not concerned about Rooney, as he needs to keep playing; to keep fit.

From now until the end of the season, I think Rooney will be a better pick.

    Who agrees?

Saw Sporting (A Beer Gut)'s post the other day, and how he's fed-up with his season and is going to take a few more punts in an attempt to turn his luck around. That's the way I like to play the game - not afraid to take a hit and, within reason, backing fixtures over form.

This season has been drab though. Last couple of seasons have treated me well, top 3k finish back to back (with two different IDs - *cough*), and high hopes going into this season. What I thought would be a refinement of my approach to the game, cutting out the hits and remaining patient with players, has instead seen me not backing my instincts. I've lurched from 3 or 4 gameweeks of considered transfers to 8pt atrocities addressing oversights in form or preparing for the next purple patch of points.

In doing so, I've lost what I love about this game and my mini-leagues, the anticipation and (yes) adrenaline in seeing how your eleven line up against your mates' come Saturday midday. Yes, there are those who ride out the storms and take on Buddhist monk levels of discipline in restricting themselves to a couple of transfers ever other fortnight. Hats off to them, but that's not the way I like my fantasy football bread buttered.

Thing is, you either back your considered reasoning (aka gut), and follow it, or you play the game in a disciplined manner. There really are no half measures. This season, I feel I've lost out on so many points, but you pick yourself up and the game often gives you the chance to make amends. Hazard vs West Ham, Rooney vs Reading, and this week, Berbatov vs QPR. All obvious with hindsight, but aren't they all?

So, perhaps I'm not spending as much time on the game as I once did. I'm certainly watching less football, and I think that is the crux. Watching the games reveals the players in form, the ones about to explode. It could be that the OPTA stats are a distracting factor... hmm. Anyway, I'll leave it there. 🙂

I think having two teams would hurt your ambition/passion. You need it to be just one team that you care about deeply. Otherwise your decision-making can be tainted.

That said I'm talking hyperbolically here.

Yeah, it does. One team inevitably becomes the chosen one, and the other is cast off, but this season, it's just been the one team and so diluting my transfers shouldn't have been an issue.

I think it's come down to consciously changing the way I play the game this year. I don't go OTT with hits, 4 pt hits every 3 weeks on average I'd say, but from the outset tried to curb that instinct and play a more long term game only to cave in to old habits every now and then.

Funny thing is, I put in all the research up front - build a season ticker, look at defender rotation, then shoot myself in the foot by selling RVP for Rooney without really valuing a player's form. You live and learn!

      Nice, honest, I like it!
I think the higher you get, especially early on, dictates how disciplined you become. A good start to the season is sooo important. I've never had a good start so I always feel like I'm chasing which can lead to frustration and then silly risk taking.
I still feel I play a little too conservatively and I understand completely your point about playing the game for fun's sake.
Going with your gut is different to playing with risk though (imo). My single biggest regret this season was ignoring my gut and not getting Cazorla for AV, GW27 and going with Walcott instead (I owned nether at the time) and all week I was convinced of a Cazorla (c) move...26 points gone right there.

Spending too much time on here clouds things too. It's a great site but it can muddy the waters too.

Yep, agree 100% RCA. Planned to bench Walcott last week and bring in Cazorla and Berbatov for Kebe and Suarez, but left the transfers late (a more considered playing style) and the price rises dictated a compromised Lampard and Giroud, instead.

Generally, I don't tend to follow the flock (many would say I deliberately swim upstream, mixing metaphors), so being on here isn't too much of a factor, but I am a sucker for the OPTA stats and that has cost me. I honestly believe I've transferred in Taarabt 3 times this season 😀

Don't talk to me about Rooney vs. Reading (Not the most recent 9 pointer, but the 16er earlier in the season.) I sold him that week for a hit. He played so deep the week before, didn't get a shot on target and I was mad. 🙁

The season's full of them 😉 I recall taking a points hit for Suarez and giving him the arm band while I had Rooney playing away at Reading. Rooney went tits that week, Suarez returned 1 or 2 points.

Now that's an argument for not taking transfer hits, so I think a fair share of luck comes into it.

So the world No.1 has a 616 points total for captain picks...no wonder! That's amazingly a good 100 points above most of the averages I've seen in Gargamel's experiment.

I need a one week punt or two before my wildcard next week. Anybody got any great ideas? The best I can come up with is RVP to Ba and maybe grab Vert or Luiz for a defender for a hit.

Only .1 in the bank. Team is:

    Howard (Rudd)

    Enrique-Pearce-Davies (Clyne-Demel)

    Mata-Bale-Silva-Sissoko (Snodgrass)

    RVP-Suarez-Sturridge

3 Liverpool so no Stevie G, can't quite afford Hazard. Lampard might work, but I have this feeling that City are going to win the Derby handily. They won't win the league, but I think they might want to show that they're just as good as United on their day.

What have the rest of my players been doing?

        😆

That's really high too, fair play.

I worked out that if my team was to have literally averaged the points I have so far it'd be 44 points a week for my other 10 players and 17 for my captain. So the rest of my team would be averaging +4 points each a week and my captain would be averaging 8.5 points. nice!

Not bad going! I can't be bothered going into that much depth 😉

We have been spoiled with DGWs this season though, I've not had a DGW captain fail.

Torres, Sess, Hazard, Walcott have all done the business.

I keep looking at Buttner and thinking he is worth the 5.0m price just for potentially one game 😀

Not on current form (or Norwich's current form) which has seen them have less shots than pretty much any team for quite a while now.

I think I'm benching him. I wouldn't mind playing him, but Sissoko's fixture is too good, and the rest of my team are heavy hitters. I could maybe get away with benching Silva since he's only priced like a heavy hitter, but I've got a hunch...

Nice idea to trade Davies to Sagna for an extra 0.2 in preparation for the DGW?

Arsene isn't one to rotate often and Bacary is first choice..

Good transfer I think. I am contemplating the same thing with santon to Sagna and he has better fixtures than Davies and no blank gw33

        Yeah, pretty much the intentions.
That means I'll have a killer of a DGW as well 😀

Not too bad of a transfer with Santon as well, plus he's a doubt I think.
