United complete the job thanks to a devastating hat-trick from Robin Van Persie as Villa are dismissed in front of jubilant Old Trafford faithful. Here’s the Stock Check on Monday’s action…

On the Up

Robin Van Persie
The Dutchman chose the perfect occasion to emphatically underline his value, both to United and to his Fantasy owners, with a superbly taken hat-trick. On the day that saw Luis Suarez likely banned for the remainder of the season, Van Persie’s pursuit of the Golden Boot now looks complete having moved to 24 for the season with tonight’s goals. With so many Fantasy managers handing Van Persie the armband, tonight’s events will have opened up a chasm between the “have” and “have-nots”, impacting on many a mini-league scenario with just four Gameweeks remaining. The concern now is whether Van Persie will earn a rest or continue to find profit over the remaining matches.

Phil Jones
The former Blackburn man was, once again, outstanding. Jones has now started the last four league outings and looks firmly in favour, whether that be at centre-back, or alongside Michael Carrick in central midfield. With four games remaining and a 5.6 price tag, Jones would normally find plenty of interest, were it not for double Gameweek distractions.

Shinji Kagawa
Another player who has come into bloom in recent weeks. Tonight was Kagawa’s third consecutive start, his fourth in the last five. The Japanese international looks set to go on enjoying the tail end of the season with Fantasy managers no doubt making note of his impact with next term in mind.

Going Down

Wayne Rooney
It’s rather remiss to knock Rooney on a night of celebration but there’s little doubt that those holding the striker as an alternative to Van Persie paid the ultimate price this evening. While Rooney kept pace with the Dutchman for periods of the season and even looked a stronger option at times, the run-in has seen Van Persie put the debate to bed with five goals in three matches.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Rotation and motivation putting me well off man city players. Aside from Hart who is too expensive anyway. Crazy to think of 0 mci coverage for dgw?!

They have to play for the game to be superb, though.

Roberto Mancini put Joleon Lescott up front yesterday no doubt to send a message out to his bosses. Throw in an FA Cup final that takes absolute priority I wouldn't rule him out going grander.

Absolutely this. Lescott up front instead of Aguero! They have absolutely nothing to play for now, and despite the fixtures no one is safe from rotation.

Which is the best GK+Def combo for the DGW? (Other defenders used: Zab & Dawson)

    a) Hart+Ivanovic
    b) Cech+Kompany
    c) Lloris + Baines
    d) Hart + Vertonghen

Whether a club performs a guard of honour or not is entirely up to the club in question.

If De Gea gets the predicted bonus point that puts me 99 ahead in my minileague. Was going to do De Gea to Hart and Suarez to Defoe this week (for a four point hit), then Distin to Kompany, Wilson to Ivanovic and Rooney to Kone next week (for an eight point hit). That would give me ten for the double - Hart, Kompany, Ivanovic, Davies, Michu, Bale, Mata, Maloney, Kone and Defoe. Worth the hits? This minileague is all I'm interested in really, but I want to win by as much as I can. At the moment my nearest, and only real, rival has four for the double - Zabaleta, Azpilicueta, Vorm and Davies.

evans with just 12ppi suggests having a shot cleared off the line by a defender rather than saved is off target, essentially it's better to be saved by the keeper.
i notice on whoscored who i've heard use opta stats evans was showing that as a shot on target so this would be a change i'd welcome next season, if you beat the keeper but not a player on the line it shouldn't inferior to not beating the keeper, the difference s probably quite big too as it's on target v off target
