Peaks and troughs – every Fantasy season has them and, this week, we revel in the Professor’s major trough in a futile attempt to break the man. After Robin Van Persie issues the boffin a spanking, the Professor shows his mettle by taking it on the chin. Admirable stuff.

While we’d have gladly devoted this entire episode to such gloating, we do manage to squeeze in the regulars, whilst Jonty turns up with more community gold: the tale of a globe trotting Fantasy manager who takes his advice off Frankfurt clubbers and QPR fans, whilst trying to figure out the Russian phrase for “please, wireless, I’m desperate – I have Djibril Cisse up front!”.

By the way, the Professor isn’t the only one who can take criticism on the chin. Granville and I want some feedback on the ScoutCast and my co-host has worked on a short survey to get your views. Take five minutes to help us out while you listen in via this link.

    He might. But AVB has praised Defoe a lot this week, he was first team striker before his injury, and lets be honest - Ade has been completely woeful all season long. Rooney might not even play now that theyve won it, and even if he does he`ll propably be in midfield again.

        Yeah youre right, we really just dont know, but there could be points to collect, even though Wigan arent the easiest team to come up against. Leaning towards gamble, just because Rooney has looked so deep and unlikely to score the last few games.

        I think both Rooney and Defoe are gambles that could go either way if I was being honest , I've gone for kone -sure he won't set the world on fire but he might just drip feed me points to the end ,
        I've played it relatively safe all season and it's stood to me but the next few is where a punt is worth a go as games are running out anyway, but my priority at the mo is to just get 6/7 dgws out to stay in the hunt -
        My mother once told me " you can give you all the advice in the world , but you just do your own thing in the end "

        Thats good advice that is! 😀 I`ve done somewhat different with my team, a few gambles here and there which i feel have been rather unlucky not to pay off - i wont bother you lot with further details. The reason im looking at Defoe is they have fixtures, he`ll play up front (given that he plays), and hes a shooting machine, whilst Roon the last month or so has been deployed as a midfielder, theyve won the league, theres talk about him leaving etc. And Spurs have all in the world left to play for as well. And lastly, i dont really think a lot of people will gamble on him, atleast not just yet.

      I think more likely to be Rooney who misses out. I think RVP safe for next two. At worst he'll play 30 in one and 90 the other which is about as safe as most at this stage of the season.

      Obviously downgrading for no good reason doesnt make any sense. I`d perhaps look into getting Kompany for Zaba for additional gametime, atleast i think he`ll play more for the rest of the season.

        Meh i think Kompany is more nailed on, simply because Tourè hasnt played since he came back from ACON (and he`s shit), and now Micah`s back and hungry for games. Also theres less fatigue as a centreback compared to an attacking right back. I`d reckon him to play all the games, but i cant be sure obviously. Much rather have Hart/Luiz, if you can manage that. Even though i dont think Chelseas fixtures for the double are good for defensive acquisitions.

    The fact that Lukaku hasn't started a game vs. a top 4 team this season is a worry given that they play City away in the second game of the double.
    
    Having said that, I could easily do Kone -> Lukaku but Kone simply has more to play for..

Are there any players that you hope aren't going to be playing this GW?

I hope RvP, Defoe, and to a lesser extent Tevez don't feature this weekend (although I have him but also have Ageuro.. Just so I can get the jump on the ones that overtook me last week! every man and his dog seem to have picked those players, so that would be nice if my wish would come true!! :d
