Hull City boss Steve Bruce added to his forward options late last week by acquiring Danny Graham on a season-long loan deal from Sunderland. The former Swansea man is the club’s seventh signing of the summer and follows the likes of Allan McGregor, Curtis Davies, Maynor Figueroa and Ahmed Elmohamady to the KC Stadium as The Tigers prepare for life back in the Premier League.

Having fallen out of favour under Paolo Di Canio after just six months at Sunderland, Graham’s security of game time looks set for a significant increase in the season ahead. Judging by his new manager’s comments, it’s clear that Bruce – who has an option to make the deal permanent at the end of 2013/14 – is a huge fan of the 27-year-old:

    Absinthe (or anyone who knows)
Where can I find degree-of-difficulty of fixtures expressed as a number (I.e. not red/green shades). I see you used numbers in your excellent defender rotation analysis.
    Many thanks

I've done my own. I just use the season ticker and isolate one week at a time and sort by difficulty and number these 1 to 20. If you total these and then sort the total column by lowest to highest if gives you number rankings. It doesnt take as long as it sounds.

I do 6 weeks ahead at a time, so I've only done the first 6 weeks of the season.

Not sure what basis Absinthe chose but you can view/export/importt the fixture difficulties on the scout ticker via the dropdown underneath. Unless that's just a member thing? Not sure.

Soldado 5 pens in La Liga last season, Negredo had 4 pens highly likely they wont be on them at their respective clubs. How does this impact their FPL potential?

Why is it highly likely Soldado won't be on pens at Spurs? I'd say it's fairly likely he will be. Not that we'll sign him.

    Arsene Wenger on Nacho Monreal:
‘He’s had an injection and it looks like he will miss the start of the season,’ said Wenger. ‘Vermaelen can play there, but he is injured. Monreal can play there, he is injured.'
‘At the moment we only have Kieran Gibbs who can play at left back.'

I think Gibbs will anyway be the #1 Arsenal LB this season. Still good we have a quality backup in Monreal.

But then, we need a CB badly.

I'd have said Monreal had the spot off the back of last season. Possibly Wenger's best signing in years. But if Gibbs plays and we start well he might make it his. Great having two genuine options.

Sorry for repost everyone, but i thought it would be worth the discussion

Been thinking about this for days........When it comes to the discussion surrounding RVP/Bale....Should I have both? One or the other? or Neither?

When determining which way to go, I asked myself the question. "If i make the wrong decision which will hurt more"

    1. RVP no Bale - 51% Bale ownership ouch!
    2. Bale no RVP - surely the odds on favorite to win the golden boot for a third straight season. Gets attacking returns in 80% of starts "Only" 36% ownership. If he has a smashing start, and you think it is difficult to get him in your squad at 14.0M try it at 14.5 and 40% ownership. ouch!
    3. Neither....well that is just insanity. double ouch!
    4. If RVP or Bale fail miserably you can always downgrade along with the other 1.3 Million Bale owners and 1 Million RVP owners. It will hurt, but at least you are not alone!

    IMHO....you have to have both.

        1. Having a consistent reliable (C) choice

I'm tending to agree. You can easily move to the best player in Mid or Attack and have cash to splash if it doesnt work out OR you just sick with these two big hitters who might be on fire and everyone else is trying to get them.

I'm very tempted by Giroud this season. Last season he got into the right positions and was unlucky with a lot of attempts. I know you can't go by pre-season (Boselli) but if you watch his goals, he looks very confident and some EPL GK's would struggle to save some of the goals he scored in the friendlies.

Having said that, Walcott is probably more consistent. It is a gamble but could pay off

I agree that Walcott is safer, but still, there could be a case for getting both.

After all, Giroud's 1st season in PL was not that bad considering he was still unproven internationally (and not that proven nationally either).

Could it be his breakout season?

A rough first draft based around including RVP and Bale. Thought?

    Jaas (Boruc)
    Baines, Mert, Bassong (Thomas, Parr)
    Bale, Coutinho, Snodgrass, Routledge, Chester

Too much money spent on defence. Should try and get 2 of Walcott/Hazard/Silva/Coutinho in that team.

      Bassong > M. Turner

      Baines > Collins

Chester is a defender, Thomas is a midfielder.

      Chester > Clyne

10.0m is too much for keeper rotation, so Jaas > Foster

      Lambert > J Rod

      Thomas > Koren

      Routledge > Walcott/Hazard

Hopefully that makes sense and is mathematically possible. I too am going with Bale and RVP, and believe me, your defence needs to be cheap to make it work!

So I've been trying to analyse the new bonus point system but without see who received the 3, 2 and 1 bonus points, not much analysis can be made without making some broad (potentially wrong) assumptions. FPL have given us the new bonus point system but if there's a way to get the actual bonus points that would of been received would be much more valuable.
The list given shows that around 50% of the top new point system consists of defenders, but this information is very limiting, for example player such as Defender may receive a consistant an above average amount of the new bonus points but yet never receive any of the 3,2,1 bonus pts, While a player with a lower average receive more bonus points with a fluctuating bonus point form.
Is there any chance FPL will give out the 3,2,1 bonus points under the new system?

Why is everyone saying that nolan is untohchable because carroll is injured? Nolan had plenty of success last year without carroll in the lineup. Is everyone just fixated on last season's gw38?

in one of the hot topics, someone explains with statistical evidence (i didn't verify its accuracy for the record) that nolan did significantly worse without carroll last season. i personally think he'll still do okay, and if it wasn't for snod he'd still be in my team, but it seems carroll's absence does tend to impact him a little. and this makes sense considering how often he benefits from the big man's knockdowns.

It does seem that there is still a fair amount of debate... truthfully, I had not remembered that carroll was in west ham's lineup early in the season when nolan was scoring most of his goals.

Mate I am a HUGE fan of Nolan. But he really is nothing without Carroll. I checked stats but also remember another pivotal game where WH scored 3 goals, Nolan fed off Carroll superbly. When Carroll was injured Nolan became no threat on goal. He became about as scary as Charlie Adam.

Decent team but yeah question marks are over Robles/Mannone starting at the minute but we'll obviously know more (hopefully) as the season nears.

Don't like Wanyama personally (I know he's a 5th but other options are Koren, Thomas and have more potential IMO)

Jarvis I like just because he's a viable punt and could do well, other 6.0 options are G.Ramirez, Morrison, Sissoko who may perform better though, up to you!

      (Snodgrass in the mix)

Aguero was ahead of Tevez on pens anyway I believe - only Mario was ahead of Aguero when he was there, so I think Aguero is fairly likely to still have them.

Snoddy has a great chance of getting pens also now that Holt is gone. RVW another contender imo.

West Brom - I think this used to be Dorrans then Brunt. Odem and Morrison also in the hunt. With Anelka joining it's a bit of a guess, but I'd guess Dorrans/Brunt will still have them

I think the midfield needs work. Probably too much spent in attack.

Most here prefer JRod to Lambert, if you want to, become a member and compare the stats between the two after Pochettino came. Also wouldnt go near Baker, Paulinho or Wilshere, but thats just me, the midfield seems very weak.

Thanks, JRod might actually save me a few £ too.

Start at the beginning.....Mig/Boruc is too expensive..either Mig on his own or another 4.5 to go with Boruc......Get rid of Baker, worst defensive option in the game given their early fixtures....Watch where Wishere plays pre season, he'll either be a great punt or a rubbish pick...same for Paulinho...Nolans okish...Thomas is standard bench fodder...Foward line is obviously pretty good (Lambert>Jrod possibly)

        Thanks. I'll have a rethink.
Baker & Thomas wouldn't prob. make my first 11 anyway.
