Hull City boss Steve Bruce added to his forward options late last week by acquiring Danny Graham on a season-long loan deal from Sunderland. The former Swansea man is the club’s seventh signing of the summer and follows the likes of Allan McGregor, Curtis Davies, Maynor Figueroa and Ahmed Elmohamady to the KC Stadium as The Tigers prepare for life back in the Premier League.

Having fallen out of favour under Paolo Di Canio after just six months at Sunderland, Graham’s security of game time looks set for a significant increase in the season ahead. Judging by his new manager’s comments, it’s clear that Bruce – who has an option to make the deal permanent at the end of 2013/14 – is a huge fan of the 27-year-old:

If only Dan Eggen and Youssef Chippo were still around and playing in the PL. It would be the perfect team name

Does anyone else think that no Chelsea DGW would be a blessing in disguise?

I can have strong expensive United/City/Spurs/Arsenal coverage without feeling guilty about Hazard. I can cope with no Liverpool for a while but no Chelsea would usually destroy me!

Just attempted my first RVP/Bale team and don't actually feel that I've lost balance massively from my Bale only team. Any opinions/suggestions?

    Mannone (Boruc)
    Clyne Turner Collins (MBiwa/Taylor) (Chester)
    Bale Walcott Mirallas Snodgrass (Thomas)
    RVP Negredo Anelka

pool are kind of a pain in the ass though IMO, unless you can afford sturridge. there's no guarantees with anybody else at this point, though aspas may be worth a punt.

chelsea meanwhile have the whole gw3 issue, and the fact that despite lots of contradictory rumours we really have no idea what team mourinho's going to favor yet.

    How does this look??

    Mignolet (Davies)
    Zabaleta baines vertonghen (Chester,turner)
    Nolan snodgrass bale sessegnon (Morrison)
    Girond sturridge lambert

Think I've got some good balance here with a lot of Oop players who do a lot for their team. Pens/ set pieces etc. a lot of bonus potential here also.

Some decent players there. I'd say downgrade Mignolet and get too keepers that rotate well. Too much spent on defence when there's decent 4.5 - 5.5 alternatives to let you upgrade midfield.

    2) Mirallas or Snoddie?
With Mirallas, I can get the two defenders from Q1 + Collins,
With Snoddie, I can get Merte, Nasty and Walker (or Merte, Zaba and Kaboul, etc)

Nastasic price, fixtures & less of a rotation risk.
*Mertesacker & ARS maybe struggling depending on the knock Koscielny took

Leaning Snodgrass as EVE, HUL & SOT seem a decent run to start the year & as it appears you'll bolster your backline through the process.

Mirallas & EVE are away to NOR, home to WBA which seems 'OK' however, then EVE are away to the stingy CAR with CHE waiting for them after that.

Sort term Sndograss comes out ahead...

PS. Have you considered the "inbetween" with Pienaar at 7mil.
Martinez loves to play through the left side & along with Baines this could be a decent shout.

Nasty in then. Unless ManCity bought another central defender.

True Snoddie is a better short term investment it seems due to the fixture.

Mirallas is more of a gut feeling thing. I don't know why I always wanted to have him.

Is Pienaar nailed on? Interesting point on the left-side attack. And if he is on the left wing, then shouldn't he be considered OOP just like Mirallas as well?

I don't see / know why Pienaar wouldn't be in the side? He netted 140+pts too...
(Happy to know if I'm wrong about playing time?)

As for Mirallas he seems a fave round these parts as he's supposed to get fwd this yr.

What do you all think is the best time for a punt?

Surely it has to be from the off because, as it is, you don't know who is going to do well. There is no form for us to base our judgement on. I know there is pre-season form to go by, but look at where it has lead us to in previous years, Graham, Boselli and the likes!

Till the Michu's & Fellaini's of this season emerge, surely its best to go all out with your gut feeling. If it all goes wrong, there is nothing that 2 or 3 transfers can't fix.

Gw1-3 then wc in the international break if it goes wrong!

Always ignore your GW1 rank as everyone is so close that it can look terrible even if you are only 10 points behind!

I have never wildcarded early so don't know much about it. But you could easily remove some failed punts by 2 or 3 transfers, thus saving the wildcard for a more apt time.

I think Mirallas could be good value based on last season.

Ben Arfa is solid value, on all set pieces and Newcastle have no European commitments so they should have a season akin to the one before last given they buy an effective striker.

      Rooney/Welbeck/Hernandez/Kagawa, RVP

Same as last year, loads of rotation leaving RVP as the sole option.

Nope. I'd say if Rooney stays, he'll get no more than half the games.

If he leaves, I'd guess about 24-25 league starts assuming fit all season and most of those in tougher matches where they play 4411 rather than 442.

Given RVP and Bale get the majority of their value as captains, would both render one of less value as you can't captain both?

Also. Anyone else thinking August to Jan is all aboyt building enough value to afford both?

Completely agree. Had planned on trying not to play my wildcard until latter part of the season this year, but the prospect of another Chelski DGW to kick off proceedings, along with the need to somehow amass enough funds for both RVP and Bale has put that one to bed!

definitely...RVP was rarely a great capt pick last season for any one game (i think he only scored more than one on about four or five occasions, less than Rooney as i remember)...but was by miles the most consistent...Chop and change and you lose a lot of the value of owning him...

Market price about 15-20 now, compared to bentley at about 1.5 and they lost him for free.

Carroll is still an impressive player IMO, could still improve. Just bad timing and wrong system for him to go to Liverpool IMO.

And that also reminds me that isnt Torres most expensive for Chelsea? 😀

Good evening to all, my first preseason post, so I'll cut straight to chase :

    current team is :
    Vorm/Marshall
    Coleman/Delaney/Collins/Clyne/Chester
    Coutinho/Garvan/Mirallas/Bale/Koren
    Van Persie/Ruiz/Lukaku
    money in bank 1.5

Plan is simple - rotation between Collins/Clyne, Chester/Delaney and Koren/Garvan.
For rest of the players I think they will deliver big points in all season round-up. Vorm/Marshall rotation for GK's, Ruiz is the brain of Fulham, recent matches showed me that he is in good form too and I really hope this injuries will miss him through season. About Lukaku I share the opinion of thousands of other football fans that he is the new Drogba and this season might be his final move to become top class FW. RVP and Bale, no need to say anything more (unless Bale goes to Spain), Mirallas will give 100% of his possibilities because of the upcoming WC2014 and Coleman looks set to be one of OOP stars for this season.

So, any thoughts on team and where to spend extra 1.5 will be very appreciated 🙂

    Cheers mates !!

even if this is lukaku's breakthrough season, do you really think he's gonna be starting every game early on? particularly if they buy a top striker, as they're obviously planning to do (rooney or whoever else)

i don't think this team is too bad, some fun differentials and whatnot. vorm's gonna have to save shots like crazy to be worth your while though, their fixtures are diabolical.

I replied to your comment in down post, sorry ðŸ™

well, they already have 3 good FW (Torres, Ba and Lukaku) and if you look a bit down in the past, Mourinho always preferred one "tank", who is capable of creating chances for MF's (Drogba + Lamps, Sneijder + Diego Millito and Benzema + Ozil/CR7). From that list, it is clear Lukaku is the profile Mou needs. He acquired the expirience in WBA, his national squad is one foot in Brasil and this season he will give twice of his possibilities to impress Mou.

Vorm is, in my opinion, real heir of Van der Sar. Calm and secure GK, also has in mind battle for #1 spot in Dutch WC starting XI and he is better than Stekelenburg and Krul.

According to reports and news through post and preseason, they both look like good picks in CP's starting XI. Garvan is MF in the hole, on pens, corners and freekicks, and Delayney is budget DF (because, recent seasons thought me to invest as cheap as possible lineup). And both cost 9.5

Well CP does rotate nicely with Hull. However I'd be concerned about doubling up on them. You'd be hoping both teams to reasonably well especially at home. For a while I considered Gayle and Koren but chickened out when I realised I'd have to start one of them every week.

the rotation MF, that can become Blackpool's C.Adam v2.0 😀

Koren also has a lot of experience so I think he can make the difference in upcoming season.

mac city players that will start any ideas?

roughie i have is giroud i think he will flourish and have a 15-20+ goal season good call bad call?

Lets throw away the CPL players as w/ TOT, STO, SUN, MUN & SWA to star the year we probably won't see them anyway / easily replaceable bench fodder.

      So, leaves us with:

RvW - Kagawa (Not in on this as UTD have some tricky fixtures & would prefer to see how Roney plays out.)

Negredo - JRod (Like this combo w/ the run of fixtures each club has. Feel JRod is great value for 6mil)

RvW & Giroud (Would be a close 2nd to above & if MCI rotate their fwd line then it'd have to be 1st in my mind)
