Sky Sports Analysis – Goalkeeper Bonus Save Points

As mentioned in a previous article, there’s been a handful of new rules introduced to the Sky Sports Fantasy game this season. One of the most welcome additions is the move to reward goalkeepers with bonus points – stoppers will now receive two extra points if they make five or more saves in a match, thus boosting their appeal and forcing us to reassess their worth in the season ahead.

The Sky Sports table for Goalkeepers in the Members Area now includes the bonus points from saves that would have been accrued for the past two seasons. In this evening’s article for Members, we’ve analysed these numbers in full, assessing the impact the new bonus system is likely to have on our Sky Sports selections.

    I feel like having RVP in your team hogs funds and clouds judgement for captaincy options. I got burned saying I wanted to captain a midfielder like Walcott on his hat trick, and I cried when I was forced to place it on the 13m striker. That's my ultimate decision, but it's hard to justify a player you invest that much when you won't even give him the armband every week. Hopefully this season I can survive without him. Think there's lots of value to be found int he midpriced strikers.

      his ownership was quite low 'early' last season if I remember right

      i brought him in around October and cruised to the top of my leagues, so he must have been somewhat of a differential.

      £14m is too much, when you only have £100m funds

        think of it as 14 in the bank + a great player. it will hurt more not having him than it will having him not producing. that my opinion on RvP, im sure many wont agree

          Many got by last season with Suarez. My friend beat me week in week out towards the end, but I had a much larger points total. The only reason I got RVP in was because of Aguero's injury and my 2m for a backup plan 🙂 worked out great. Not gonna mess with him this season at 14.0

        I believe Mata can score more points in DGW even if he plays only one game than a Chelsea defender who might also start only one game unless I select Cech

          I agree Mata is the best pick longterm. I'll wildcard quite early, so for this DGW I am currently planning to go with cech, hazard, lukaku.

          They have a fair chance of 2 CS..

          If I wasn't WCing early though, I think I'd look closer at a plan like yours. I like it, and your Mata pick over a defender who is not 100% nailed for both matches seems smart.

      Mata is super under rated for the double and should score as much as hazard, so I like that.
      Not a fan of the paulinho punt - would go with Nolan for his fixtures.

    REPOST:

    I find what @dribbler said actually very interesting for the 'Template Team'.

    The template team is what the majority of the crowd are saying, and usually, this 'crowd' is usually correct. These players that 'the crowd' are recommending are usually the ones that will get you your points that will justify what you paid for them. E.g Hazard (c) for the DGW - Template.

    But what Dribbler said was that you need to use this template then you yourself find the errors and change them yourself, this will be what separates you from the rest and will actually lead to you beating your rivals. Lukaku for the DGW, he is part of the 'template' team, but it is up to your own personal decision whether you opt for this or not, because it could be a potential error in this template team as not many know if he is 100% nailed on.

    I don't mean to repeat what dribbler said, but what he stated is absolutely spot on.

      it's a good viewpoint. steal from a good source then try and tweak to get the extra 5%s.

      a good thing to keep it fresh is the template changes week by week. you post a team with benteke in it last october and you'd have been told to get berbatov or fletcher instead and not make needless gambles.

      imo treat every single player as a blank canvas, a name and their associated point potential. not how many people own them, who owns them, who they play for etc as that doesn't have any bearing on points

    @Mark, can we seriously look at a mobile version of this site or a mobile app. I have been hospitalised for the last two weeks recovering from a small surgery and it is very difficult to post comments and suggestions using the full site on the mobile browser even if I am using a smartphone.       Good team. I'd get Cole though. Not a great feeling seeing a defender being rotated.

        And I just think that maybe Terry will play both, and if he does, he can easily get a goal or two. Trying to punt for DGW, that's all.

        Yeah, I think Pool might be good, and the idea of double clean sheets are really appealing, am willing to risk it! Yeah I don't think the DGW will be huge really, too many uncertainties, am happy with those too really..

        First season, took a while to adjust and was then ditched in favour of the old guard. Looked awesome towards the end and less competition now
