As mentioned in a previous article, there’s been a handful of new rules introduced to the Sky Sports Fantasy game this season. One of the most welcome additions is the move to reward goalkeepers with bonus points – stoppers will now receive two extra points if they make five or more saves in a match, thus boosting their appeal and forcing us to reassess their worth in the season ahead.

The Sky Sports table for Goalkeepers in the Members Area now includes the bonus points from saves that would have been accrued for the past two seasons. In this evening’s article for Members, we’ve analysed these numbers in full, assessing the impact the new bonus system is likely to have on our Sky Sports selections.

    People saying that Liverpool have better fixtures than Swansea at the start of the season... I don't think they are too dissimilar, certainly Michu/Bony can score as well as Cout/Sturridge? No? I guess the only thing that nudges it in Liverpool's favour is 3 home games, compared to Swans' 2 home games?

        Yeah, as I read it more, I can kinda see how Liverpool have the better fixtures. I was going with Stoke being a toughie for them

    I have been debating with myself about when is the best time to wildcard in a season, as my gw1 team will heavily depend on whether I decide to WC early or not. After much thought I have come to the conclusion that wildcarding early (gw 3) is the best time for the following reasons.

    - It allows us to play the money game and increase our team value
    - We will have seen 3 gameweeks at this stage, so should know who the cheap starters are, and also the in form players
    - It allows us to start off by picking a team for the first 3 weeks only, which should result in a good start to the season
    - Using it early means an improved team early on and a better rank. The players in the top 10 every year seem to have been there for most of the season, so it seems to be rare enough that someone with a poor rank early on can catch up all those points that they already trail
    - It will allow us to get RVP in easier if needs be, as we will start seeing the bargain players and which sub-7m mids and strikers are performing better than the more expensive ones
    - Many argue that it should be saved for the DGWs, but we will know those in advance so should have enough time to allow careful planning take care of those
    - Allows us to get rid of all the flops we have picked on the back of a good pre-season
    - Will allow the new players to the PL settle so we can see who has started to adapt quickly
    - We should know at this stage each team's likely formation and starters

    The only con I can see is that it won't be there if our team suddenly gets hit with a few injuries and suspensions, but that is something an 8 point hit and solve.

    Have I missed anything obvious folks? Agree or disagree?

      I think I agree, but there is a huge swing in fixtures straight after GW1, and the price markets are still VERY volatile then! GW2 WC for me this season.

        Are there really more price rises over an international break though? Everyone still has the same amount of transfers! I remember last season people only made about 0.3-0.4m 🙂

      plenty of value in the 6.0 bracket with Zabalet and Enrique. Zabs could be the best I think if nailed on. Showed plenty of attacking flair last season without too many rewards. May not be too useful in Pellegrini's system though, time will tell.

        Decent looking team and not a diff amongst them. I see it being OK, but tied without about 5,000 identical ones.
