Just in case you missed it, we’re supporting PlayON over the new season as our weekly Premier League game of choice. Yesterday we brought you our Strategy Guide, offering some tactical approaches that worked for us last term and tomorrow we’ll be following this up with our first regular player picks article. Today, however, we’re going to examine some of the features of PlayON that you may have overlooked or missed out on whilst playing the game. Plus, we get to take an exclusive peek at the new PlayON website in development.

The Live Matchday Experience

PlayON is powered by a live feed of data from OPTA which enables them to update their points on the fly. They also provide a live feed of events as they happen – this means you can see your points tick away as tackles, goals and assists rack up. You can also see your standing in any of the games you’re playing update live and even compare your current score against any of your competitors. Take it from us, it’s addictive stuff when you’re tussling at the top for some prize money.

For a preview of a live matchday on PlayON, check out this movie.

My Club and League of Titans

We have to admit, we only investigated this feature at the very end of last season but can see clear potential in it. PlayON enables you to affiliate yourself to your favourite club, which means that from that point on, your PlayON weekly team score get added to your club’s points total. This can help your favourite club win trophies in the game when they reach certain points thresholds.

This is taken a step further with the dramatically named, “League of Titans” – which is designed to prove which club supporters know the most about football. Here the top scorer from each club is picked to represent their club in the following Gameweek – leveling the playing field between clubs with small numbers of followers and the larger clubs. Score well and you might get the chance to become the “Titan” for your club and go some way to demonstrate that your supporters have the superior football knowledge. After all, it’s scientifically proven that Fantasy Football ranking is linked to football knowledge.

Open Challenges

PlayON, like most Fantasy Football experiences, is best played with mates but, if you’re new to the game, you can immediately get involved in some one-on-one challenges by using the “Open Challenge” option. You set the number of games you want to play, the amount you wish to stake and other players will see your challenge and come and take you on.

The New PlayON

There’s a revolution on the way with a brand new site being prepared to enhance your PlayON experience. While this is being developed as this is typed, PlayON have offered us an exclusive early peek at what’s in store and you can view the development site via this link.

As you’ll see, the game is getting major facelift with a slick new design but there’s also new features on the way:

Top 5 Leaderboard
Your top five weekly scores over the PlayON season will now be collected and you’ll be ranked against other players in this new leaderboard. There will also be Top 5 Leaderboards for individual games for those setting up regular showdowns with mates.

Enhanced Live Matchdays
PlayON are adding a chat facility to the matchday console. This will fire up once the game is created during the week so you can start the banter before the first whistle blows. There will be private chatrooms for all games created on PlayON so the players involved can trade jibes while the points tally up. There will also be new matchday information tickers updating on major events in the matches and full lineup details for each match. Nice.

And there’s more…
With a new mobile site on the way and a reward system that offers players cash prizes for reaching milestones, these are exciting times for PlayON.

The PlayON Team would like to get feedback on the new site from us so if you have any suggestions for improvement or new features you would like included, add them as comments below and the PlayON Team will pick them up.

Be sure to check out our player picks article tomorrow and, if you fancy taking part this weekend, refer back to yesterday’s strategy guide for some tips to get you started.

You can play for free and Fantasy Football Scout is running a £2 multiplayer game for the community with a guaranteed £500 prize pot this weekend.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I think so. Reading between the lines, I think Mourinho has him pegged for No.10 role and I think he'd be dynamite there. Having said that, he'll be out in GW2 almost regardless of what he does in GW1.

The only player I wouldn't pick in your team is Van Wolfs but you have spread your money around too much. Your only going to play 11 any given week so no poing in having that much money sitting on your bench.

downgrade Nolan or Snod, and a defender and use the money to upgrade Van Wolfs

I like that team. My only question would be about Benteke seeing as Villa don't have the easiest first 6 games (3rd bottom by difficulty on the "Next Six Ticker") - maybe a bit of a gamble given the opposition?

Im thinking he has 4 points minimum and then 180 mins to gain extra. Sturridge is a risk fitness wise and totally unsure as to what City will do Monday, hence why the DGW has swung it for Benteke.

Just based on fixtures I like Lambert more than Altidore (if you have the .5m). Altidore's finishing is hot right now, but I've watched him struggle with confidence & positioning for years, and starting over with a new system against tough opponents gives me pause.

Same here but I'm gonna suck it up and live with a bad GW3. Chances are Kim will get 2 points anyway. I think Tonev is a much better pick long-term and I don't want to make a long-term decision based on a single gameweek.

I prefer Tonev or Dorrans to Kim I think; but I've also just noticed that Sun/Car/Hul rotate pretty well so am tempted to go with Kim/Huddlestone/Altidore now.

Altidore is a massive kneejerk I know, but it's just so nice to have a viable 7.0m striker.

Tiote is the worst possible fantasy player in the game. Get Thomas at CRY. At least he'll attack and not get booked every game.
Good team otherwise. Suggest Terry- Cole if you can find 0.5

If I have a plan of having 4 DGW players then the wise idea is to have 100% nailed on players.

So Lambert in place of Dzeko then
    Collins out
    Brayford out

    Discuss.

Please RMT...A little punty with Jenkinson, Dzeko, and Walcott etc but this is my team into GW1

    Mannone
    Cole Toure Jenkinson
    Walcott Hazard Nolan Coutinho
    Dzeko Soldado Lukaku

    SUBS
    Krul
    Morrison
    Coleman
    Dawson

    Options are to do
    A: Mannone -> Boruc
    B: Dzeko -> Anelka

However...I have a feeling that Swansea may do one on Man U this weekend so I may have a cheeky punt on either Bony or Michu

If I do B - I could upgrade Nolan to Michu???

Best nailed-on 5.0m defender besides Coleman and Toure?

Best nailed-on 4.5 m or under defender besides Michael Turner, Collins.

Thinking Mbiwa as Brayford and Ben Turner not looking so nailed-on.

    Cheers 😉

I think Coutinho is a must in midfield to start. Not only for his scoring potential, but his price. If youre like me, youre planning to bring Michu in for Gw3. This gives you a week to get rid of your Hazard for Silva then your next move should be Coutinho for Michu. Your move after that should be to somehow get Sturridge in for Giroud/Lukaku.

I know its dangerous to plan so far in advance but thats the way i see it.

It's not dangerous. You just won't do it.

Michu is a front man, a goalscorer, not Coutinho's primary job. Bony might take some of that tally but I see more goals in Swansea this season.People are baulking on Michu home to United but the man has stepped it up each season and teams can score against United, won't be so easy but can be done. This time last year people were jumping to get Begovic and Stoke defenders, rightly so, a very solid defence helped by a defensive ethic in midfield. They won't lose all their defensive ethic just cos Hughes took over.

Any love for Altidore? He seems a very different player to the one we had in the FPL a few seasons ago

Awesome 😀 Really wish they had stronger first 10 fixtures though (upgrading him to RVP around GW 3)
