Just in case you missed it, we’re supporting PlayON over the new season as our weekly Premier League game of choice. Yesterday we brought you our Strategy Guide, offering some tactical approaches that worked for us last term and tomorrow we’ll be following this up with our first regular player picks article. Today, however, we’re going to examine some of the features of PlayON that you may have overlooked or missed out on whilst playing the game. Plus, we get to take an exclusive peek at the new PlayON website in development.

The Live Matchday Experience

PlayON is powered by a live feed of data from OPTA which enables them to update their points on the fly. They also provide a live feed of events as they happen – this means you can see your points tick away as tackles, goals and assists rack up. You can also see your standing in any of the games you’re playing update live and even compare your current score against any of your competitors. Take it from us, it’s addictive stuff when you’re tussling at the top for some prize money.

For a preview of a live matchday on PlayON, check out this movie.

My Club and League of Titans

We have to admit, we only investigated this feature at the very end of last season but can see clear potential in it. PlayON enables you to affiliate yourself to your favourite club, which means that from that point on, your PlayON weekly team score get added to your club’s points total. This can help your favourite club win trophies in the game when they reach certain points thresholds.

This is taken a step further with the dramatically named, “League of Titans” – which is designed to prove which club supporters know the most about football. Here the top scorer from each club is picked to represent their club in the following Gameweek – leveling the playing field between clubs with small numbers of followers and the larger clubs. Score well and you might get the chance to become the “Titan” for your club and go some way to demonstrate that your supporters have the superior football knowledge. After all, it’s scientifically proven that Fantasy Football ranking is linked to football knowledge.

Open Challenges

PlayON, like most Fantasy Football experiences, is best played with mates but, if you’re new to the game, you can immediately get involved in some one-on-one challenges by using the “Open Challenge” option. You set the number of games you want to play, the amount you wish to stake and other players will see your challenge and come and take you on.

The New PlayON

There’s a revolution on the way with a brand new site being prepared to enhance your PlayON experience. While this is being developed as this is typed, PlayON have offered us an exclusive early peek at what’s in store and you can view the development site via this link.

As you’ll see, the game is getting major facelift with a slick new design but there’s also new features on the way:

Top 5 Leaderboard
Your top five weekly scores over the PlayON season will now be collected and you’ll be ranked against other players in this new leaderboard. There will also be Top 5 Leaderboards for individual games for those setting up regular showdowns with mates.

Enhanced Live Matchdays
PlayON are adding a chat facility to the matchday console. This will fire up once the game is created during the week so you can start the banter before the first whistle blows. There will be private chatrooms for all games created on PlayON so the players involved can trade jibes while the points tally up. There will also be new matchday information tickers updating on major events in the matches and full lineup details for each match. Nice.

And there’s more…
With a new mobile site on the way and a reward system that offers players cash prizes for reaching milestones, these are exciting times for PlayON.

The PlayON Team would like to get feedback on the new site from us so if you have any suggestions for improvement or new features you would like included, add them as comments below and the PlayON Team will pick them up.

Be sure to check out our player picks article tomorrow and, if you fancy taking part this weekend, refer back to yesterday’s strategy guide for some tips to get you started.

You can play for free and Fantasy Football Scout is running a £2 multiplayer game for the community with a guaranteed £500 prize pot this weekend.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I disagree. Over the season Soldado should score more - with or without Bale. Nailed on, playing up front in an attacking team and a very good goal scoring record. Negredo should also do well, but will surely be rotated a fair amount. I have both in my team.

I'd agree with you. I have both of them, but Soldado should score more over course of season.

I've started tinkering with my keeper duo again - anyone ever gone with the tactic of two keepers from the same club? I'm looking at Boruc/Davis (in order to upgrade defence) - I imagine it could come unstuck over Christmas with possible postponments but surely it's a pretty safe tactic during Aug-October?

Anyone else thinking of it? I've gone from Migs/Marshall, to Cech/Marshall and now the ultra cheap option...

Its a poor tactic and just limits you.

Look at the rotation combinations and you will see that by far the best is Boruc/Foster.

Is it by far the best? I had a quick scan but only in RMT mind, but went back to Mignolet/Boruc, with Liverpool's good defensive form at Anfield late last year being in my thoughts.

Actually just changed Boruc to Marshall aswell. So I'm far from convinced at the moment!

Purely in terms of fixture line up yes I do think that it is the best but if you pair Migs with Marshall until the Jan window and then switch to Boruc its very tasty.

I am championing picking Marshall as your back up to Migs not Boruc, reasoning below:

When do people plan on using their WC this year?
There is a temptation to use it from week 3 to get RVP, but surely you'll want to hold some faith in your picks from the start?

You are taking a big risk having such a weak defense with 3 x 4m. Also there is no way I would pick Navas, much more nailed options in the price and even within his own team imo.

I am championing picking Marshall as your back up to Migs not Boruc, reasoning below:

Just logged in for the first time this new season to agree with TexanRed about both points. There are a few good 4.5 defenders that give you more security (I've gone with M.Turner over Ward and have the same remaining defenders as you). Also, Navas is a big No Go in my opinion. Produced very little fantasy-wise last year and is untested. Why not Mirallas?

Good defence, not to keen on Chelsea defence with MUN and blank but it's good.

No, I don't think he will play much CB. He will be eased into the squad and mainly play CDM.

Thanks, do you think Dawson will be kept 1st choice when injuries clear.

I was talking to a Spurs season-ticket holder (who's opinion I trust!) earlier in the week and he really didn't rate Dawson, which I was surprised about. He reckoned Vert and Kaboul are their first choice (when all fit), so I think Dawson's starting place is at risk long-term, even more so with the addition of Capoue

I was at the Palace v Lazio game on Saturday and yes Thomas definitely went off injured, also before the injury he also appeared to be very unfit/slow compared to our other players on the day. Also for further information we played with two different formations/lots of players so really hard to know apart from 3 nailed on (Speroni/Ward/Jedi) who will actually start on Sunday vs Spurs.

Looking through sunderland forums even their own fans have no idea who's in goal. Getting it right would be ideal but not sure I'm going to gamble.

I think I'm gonna gamble on him. Could rocket up in price if he nails down the spot, has a strong rotation with Boruc for the opening three, and if Boruc plays instead it's not the end of the world.

Come down to one decision...whether to have coutinho or not

    boruc foster
    cole ward chester murner mbiwa
    miralas hazard wally (gaston/coutinho)* koren
    soldado lukaku dzeko....have 4.5m itb

Option A (with coutinho and 1.5m itb)
    gw2: cole + hazard >> dawson + gaston/J.morrison
    gw3: lukaku >> rvp

Option B (with gaston and 4.5m itb)
    gw2: cole + lukaku >> dawson + rvp
gw3: hazard >> coutinho or any mid upto 9

Leaning towards option A as its more flexible. With option B, i have to follow a stricter strategy to bring in rvp

I'd say pretty much the same. I know that doesn't help but it's too close to call and for that reason you might be better off with Sturridge just so you don't load up on too many DGWers (assuming you already have 3 CHE).

    Rodgers on Sturridge:

"He's worked tirelessly with the medical group. As a team, they've got him back. He's not 100 per cent fit yet, but for me Daniel Sturridge is a player that even if he's 70 or 80 per cent fit, he'll be right up there as one of the top strikers.

Alright guys, can you criticise this team please and suggest improvements?
    Migs/Boruc
    Collins-Mertesacker-Toure (Murner) (Chester)

    Coutinho-Hazard(c)-Walcott-Mirallas (Kim)

    Giroud-Soldado-Lukaku

I know it's almost a replica of the template team and Colliins and Walcott are both 75% but I feel like my subs are good enough of they don't play and if Walcott seems to start as a sub then I may put in Silva or Michu

    Thanks
