Heading into the home game against Stoke, Philippe Coutinho was one of the most popular picks around. Second only to Eden Hazard in terms of midfield ownership in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), the Liverpool winger was heavily backed to run riot against the Potters after a thrilling first few months on Merseyside last time round.

Unfortunately for his Fantasy owners, Coutinho returned a blank while Iago Aspas and Daniel Sturridge picked up the points after combining for the Reds’ match-winner. As we edge ever-closer to the weekend’s fixtures, we take a look back at the Brazilian’s display against Mark Hughes’ side and assess the underlying data in our first Monitor article of the new season.

    On 77 With Haz (c),thought Lukaku would get one game for me but thats how it goes.

    Serious question know its bit of guess work but when do ppl see Lukaku price drop happening late

        Yes but City manager has faith in his striker and gave great performance monday.
        Rotation risk but at that price and following on from monday is a far better gamble clearly that Lukaku is.Lambert another option safety of starts but as i said thinking of doing it all the same.Other risks taken paid dividends this week

    Reverse psychology from Mourinho.

    Start Torres vs. Hull. Lukaku cameo.
    Start Ba vs. Villa. Lukaku cameo OR maybe on at halftime.
    Start Lukaku vs. Man United.

    Its all designed to get Lukaku angry for Man United and then explode all in their faces and in the faces of all those that got rid.

    I'm hoping at the least he comes on tonight and at least gets a goal. I captained him aswell over Hazard. I felt alright after the Hull game, because Hazard didnt do anything either.

    However, I'll stay strong, he will drop, but I also think he will tear Man United apart.

    We all made that awful decision though...

    No point getting laps til after GW4 either. Will have to change Mirallas to lamps maybe, but then have to find a non-existent 0.5m from somewhere. Coutinho/Walcott/Silva have 2 weeks to prove themselves otherwise they're getting dropped for lamps.

    There was a popular trio upfront pre-season -: Lukaku, Giroud, Dzeko

    And I said both the first, and third were highly suspect to rotation. But I went for Lukaku anyways. Call it fear, or whatever you will. It's still my fault.

    Now I know that Dzeko is suspect to rotation. I would bit my tongue (and other things) if he wasn't rotated in the next few weeks, but do I still get him despite rotation?

    I have 5 in the bank, so if I get Aguero, there is no way I can get RVP.

    If Lukaku comes on tonight and scores 1 or 2. Will you still get rid ahead of Man United?

    I suspect a lot have already done the transfer before a ball has been kicked tonight.

    I have faith in Lukaku. If he doesn't start vs. Man United then I'll move him on. I know he is going to drop. I know that. But I have faith dammit!

    The Lukaku debate rages on and he hasn't started either game. My guess is he doesn't trust him just yet. Out goes Lukaku in comes Soldado, although am interested on a punt on Cisse!

    Not sure what to make of Lukaku not starting, sure I am pissed as an owner in FPL but in real life (not a Chelsea fan either) it still bewilders. having performed well in pre-season, he was probably odds on to start the first few games of the season (barring rotation and injury).

    And like Granville said, picking Lukaku made me miss doubling up with Haz/Lamps/Oscar as my options. Now I have to ship him out...Never again. He may as well repay our faith and giving us a parting gift in terms of some points!
