Another strong Villa display. Another Christian Benteke goal. This time, however, Paul Lambert’s blossoming side fall short as Branislav Ivanovic is allowed to stay on the pitch to nod home Chelsea’s winner.

The Game Changer

Arguably, referee Kevin Friend was the most influential individual on show. There’s also a strong case for Christian Benteke who struck his third goal of the season and has now scored nine league goals in his last 10 outings. Branislav Ivanovic’s goal proved the difference, however, and rewarded those who invested their double Gameweek funds whilst underlining the goal threat previously on show in Saturday’s win over Hull.

Friend’s decision to brandish a yellow for Ivanovic’s lashing out on Benteke was undoubtedly the turning point. It allowed the Serbian to demonstrate his ability at set-plays as, just minutes later, he headed home Frank Lampard’s dead ball delivery.

Ivanovic was the only Chelsea defender denied Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points from the Hull victory. Despite escaping a red card and being left for dead by Gabby Agbonlahor for Villa’s goal, Ivanovic looks set to earn bonus to make him Chelsea’s top scoring double Gameweek asset.

The Underused

While Benteke will earn huge investment following another goal and effective display, those who are struggling to stretch their funds to the Belgian will be eyeing the impact of Gabby Agbonlahor. So impressive during Villa’s run at the end of last season, he has started the new campaign in stunning form and yet claims less than 2% FPL ownership.

Instrumental in the victory at the Emirates, it was his turn of pace and delivery that set up Benteke for his equaliser. Agbonlahor has scored five goals and earned four assists in his last ten league outings.

The Selection Poser

It’s hardly a poser. Jose Mourinho’s decision to start with Demba Ba and leave Romelu Lukaku shackled on the bench disappointed Fantasy managers and Chelsea fans alike. His introduction for the ineffective Ba on 65 minutes provided little consolation. Lukaku played fewer minutes than any other Chelsea striker in the double Gameweek, having looked primed to start the campaign following a convincing pre-season.

Mourinho’s reluctance to hand Lukaku a central role on the Premier League stage is a puzzle. Perhaps he will start at Old Trafford on Monday and face a defence which he terrified on the final day of last season at the Hawthorns. It’s unlikely to make a difference – Lukaku’s ownership and price look set to slide.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I checked Pellegrini's matches at Malaga and noticed he highly rotate his center forwards
so I think Dzeko will be more rotated than Aguero what you think ?

These rises are so annoying, I was planning to get Benteke on GW 4, I had Lambert and I think he'll score more this GW, but I also think Benteke will score more overall this season, and the rises are forcing me to get him in now and miss on a possible good score from Lambert the next 2 GWs.. What to do?

If not, and should he look like dropping, who would be the best alternative for up to 6.5m in your view? Cabaye? Sissoko? J Morrison? Or is there better value in going Jarvis / Koren and upgrading a 4.0 defender to 5 - 5.5?

Need a 6.5 striker as I'm not sure Bent will start against Arsenal. Want to put Weiman (but can't as have Toure in def and Migs in goal) so maybe Crouch/Anelka?

I went crazy seeing I lost to my main ML rival by 2 points (83-81) & did 3 changes immediately after the match

    Lukaku ➡ Aguero
    Hazard ➡ Ben Arfa
    Ivanovic ➡ Zabaleta

Note: I wanted Kun very badly in my team so had to do remaining 2 transfers to raise the funds. I hope & believe these 3 transfers will be fruitful in the long run.

The problem is I took 8-point hit now (he probably won't take hit) and I've differentials in the form of Aguero, Ben Arfa, Mirallas, Walcott

I'm 90% sure Soldado will be his Captain so should I captain one of my differentials listed or play it safe with Soldado & hope to recover those 8 points from differentials?

    Please help me

    Thinking of captaining Walcott now

    A) Tottenham looked pretty dire against what was supposed to be the weakest defence in the league. The new player will obviously take some time to settle in

    B) Already have Coutinho so don't wanna put all my eggs into one basket by captaining Daniel

    C) Benteke is another one, but Liverpool just haven't been conceding any goals

    Who would you go for?

Walcott is a good choice, Wasn´t very impressed with Chadlis workrate and I dont really rate Rose that high. Walcott will give Rose a very tough game imo.
Cons: Walcott looked good last night, but not great... he just seems a bit off in most situations.

Now that Lukaku already dropped in price. Changing him to another rotation risk player does not make much sense. Especially for a hit. I think Lukaku will start against MUN now that Torres and Ba both showed they dont have much to bring to the table.

So Torres and Ba failed to do anything remotely interesting after starting a game each. Does this mean that Lukaku could now get his chance or that Jose isn't keen on using him much this season?

I was hoping Lukaku would start against Man Utd because of his hattrick at the end of last season against them, but that looks very unlikely now, Lukaku will probably be used sparsely, maybe in cups 🙁

Read his comments, both did exactly as they were asked, as did Lukaku

Jose isn't going to treat him like a superstar just because he had one good season on loan

He doesn't need to be a superstar to start for them, just look at Torres and Ba. I just think he is a better option than the other two.
