Another strong Villa display. Another Christian Benteke goal. This time, however, Paul Lambertโ€™s blossoming side fall short as Branislav Ivanovic is allowed to stay on the pitch to nod home Chelseaโ€™s winner.

The Game Changer

Arguably, referee Kevin Friend was the most influential individual on show. Thereโ€™s also a strong case for Christian Benteke who struck his third goal of the season and has now scored nine league goals in his last 10 outings. Branislav Ivanovicโ€™s goal proved the difference, however, and rewarded those who invested their double Gameweek funds whilst underlining the goal threat previously on show in Saturdayโ€™s win over Hull.

Friendโ€™s decision to brandish a yellow for Ivanovicโ€™s lashing out on Benteke was undoubtedly the turning point. It allowed the Serbian to demonstrate his ability at set-plays as, just minutes later, he headed home Frank Lampardโ€™s dead ball delivery.

Ivanovic was the only Chelsea defender denied Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points from the Hull victory. Despite escaping a red card and being left for dead by Gabby Agbonlahor for Villa’s goal, Ivanovic looks set to earn bonus to make him Chelsea’s top scoring double Gameweek asset.

The Underused

While Benteke will earn huge investment following another goal and effective display, those who are struggling to stretch their funds to the Belgian will be eyeing the impact of Gabby Agbonlahor. So impressive during Villaโ€™s run at the end of last season, he has started the new campaign in stunning form and yet claims less than 2% FPL ownership.

Instrumental in the victory at the Emirates, it was his turn of pace and delivery that set up Benteke for his equaliser. Agbonlahor has scored five goals and earned four assists in his last ten league outings.

The Selection Poser

Itโ€™s hardly a poser. Jose Mourinhoโ€™s decision to start with Demba Ba and leave Romelu Lukaku shackled on the bench disappointed Fantasy managers and Chelsea fans alike. His introduction for the ineffective Ba on 65 minutes provided little consolation. Lukaku played fewer minutes than any other Chelsea striker in the double Gameweek, having looked primed to start the campaign following a convincing pre-season.

Mourinhoโ€™s reluctance to hand Lukaku a central role on the Premier League stage is a puzzle. Perhaps he will start at Old Trafford on Monday and face a defence which he terrified on the final day of last season at the Hawthorns. Itโ€™s unlikely to make a difference โ€“ Lukakuโ€™s ownership and price look set to slide.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Kept Lukaku and shipped out Hazard (for Yaya) before the blank week (still have Ivan too), I reckon it's Lukaku's turn to get the start against Utd since the other strikers showed how much they suck and he does like to score against them. Yaya was always a force before City went flat and reckon he's a bit of a sleeper now they look to be back on attacking form.

Either genius or dumbassery, will find out soon! ๐Ÿ˜€

Up to you. It doesn't matter if you have Kolo, he's unrelated to the attack.
I have no issues with tripling up after watching the Stoke game, but you may not feel comfortable with that.

Very strong midfield. Nothing on the bench really but I'm guessing with that 11 they won't see much time anyway.

Not keen on Zaba AND Lescott, purely because you're doubling up on city and Lescott won't be a guarenteed starter once Nastasic is back.Personally I'd go for Coleman or Koscielny (when he's back).

Awoke this morning to find my -8 hit was true and not a dream.....

Ivanovic Hazard Lukaku --> Zabaleta Ben Arfa Aguero

I'd like some assurances please. Just lie to me and say I've done the right thing... ๐Ÿ˜•

        Cheers LFC.

I don't regret the players, just the monster hit was abit rash.

It was Hazard's extra 6 pts and Lukaku's imminent price drop that made me go all batty! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Well, I took a -4 for Ivan & Lukaku -> Coleman + Sturridge, so I know where you're coming from. I justified it to myself by reckoning Ivan may be rotated with Azpil for MUN, Lukaku was dead to me as soon as I saw the teamsheet, and Hazard has been less than impressive. I think if you're going to take a -8, that's a pretty decent one. I'd like Zabaleta myself, Aguero looks good, not sold on Ben Arfa but others seem to like him, so I wouldn't lose too much sleep!

Bless you for that. I do like the all the players I brought in. Getting 93 pts GW1 made me feel abit flash with my points, so I went for it!

Time will tell I guess, but Citeh's next two fixtures are glorious!

Not certain he'll start tbh. Can see Azpi getting a game. Also can't see a clean sheet either.

    Which one?

    A) Hazard > HBA for -4
    B) Lukaku > Dzeko/Lambert for -4

I'm in the same position, I reckon both will concede, but Toure has looked dangerous in the box on corners, so I think that bit of goal threat edges it.

Tough call Jol's Trolls with the form Tekkers is in. I fancy a proven defence over a Championship one though.

Toure is a big goal threat now he's at Liverpool, throughout pre-season he was a target at corners and he hit the bar vs Stoke. Goal immenent..
