The new Bonus Points System, the Fantasy Football fortunes of Stokeβs players and the two-goal reminder of Robin Van Persieβs talent are among the key issues discussed by the community this week. Once again, we also take a look at the latest from our community leagues – if you have a community league you would like to see featured in our round up please email me at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

One of the most innovative changes to the new Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Bonus Points System (BPS) has been the real time updates on playersβ progress during games. RonH was among the first eagle eyed members of the community to spot this welcome upgrade.
Site contributor Andyβs been examining how the new BPS criteria is influencing allocation. Heβs factored out obvious ways to acquire bonus, such as scoring a goal or keeping a clean sheet, to see who is benefiting. Turns out the new system heavily favours solid centrebacks as many of the community had predicted over the summer.Β Goal scorers are also going to have to do a lot more than score to get maximum bonus. Β Monk has also been busy looking at the new BPS, this time comparing it with the old EA PPI system.
Can lightning striker twice? Jairzinho has been stalking the internet to have a look to see how last yearβs top managers in the FPL game are progressing this year. Heβs also tracked down some Premier League starsβ FPL teams, most notably the Stoke playersβ mini-league. Cameron Jerome is riding high in Stokeβs league while Michael Kightly is among those vying for the wooden spoon.
One of my favourite posts (particularly after ending Saturday with just 20 points), Β came on Sunday morning. Corriganβs βchin up, it can only get betterβ post proved a real tonic for those of us staring into the abyss of a disastrous Gameweek 1.
Southamptonβs capture of Italy striker Osvaldo has delighted Saints fans but does it mean rotation at the Hampshire club? Shaylan Givens started this excellent discussion about the Italianβs impact on Southampton and the rotation nightmare it may herald.
Our resident Cardiff expert Sigga-Cardiff was on hand to give the community a reality check regarding the Welsh sideβs assets. Turns out Peter Whittingham, and not Kim Bo-Kyung, is the budget midfielder we should be considering.
Finally,Β the RVP or not to RVP debate rumbles on. We asked those who plan to go without the Dutchman who they will be relying on over the coming weeks. SW6 is keeping tabs on Wayne Rooney as an alternative, whether he stays at Manchester United or moves to Chelsea. Jack(Off)Attack is eyeing up Wilfried Bony and Sergio Aguero among others to potentially give the RVP-based teams a run for their money.
Community Leagues
More than 100 community members are taking part in a raft of FFS UEFAΒ organised leagues this year, which use real life league and club names. The top scorer across all leagues was Patrick Star, whose Partick Thistle grabbed an impressive haul of 104 points. The Bundesliga saw the biggest thrashing with Reddy outscoring Lateriser12 by 39 points. The closest contest was in La Liga where TWβs Barcelona sneaked past Declanβs Getafe by just one point. FFS UEFAβs weekly Order of Extreme Valour, handed out for flair and bravery, went to The Light Knightβs Norwich. He veered far from the template and opted for five expensive defenders, Kevin De Bruyne and also captained Frank Lampard.
Meanwhile, FFS UEFA’s Transfer Window Simulation (TWS) game is continuing and saw 25 defenders finding their way into Premier League teams. The two most valuable assets this round, Javier Mascherano and Dani Alves found their way to 4Vets‘ Liverpool and COMH‘s Man United respectively. Arsenal, owned by Zep, have staged a remarkable comeback into third place as Norwich under The Shadow still lead the game with Fulham under PeppieandFelix not far behind. Notably, Hull City, jointly run by Damo and Kuqi Monster, have been boosted by a huge increase in value for Gareth Bale. Only two bidding roundsΒ remain. Bids on midfielders must be submitted by Saturday 2359 BST.
Patrick Star’s great score this week has also seen him top Fifa Las Vegasβs 28-strong league. Messimerized lies in second with a very creditable score of 99.
In Tommy We Trustβs five leagues, named after a number of FPL legends, have also seen some incredible scores this week. ENR leads the All Things RVP league with a score of 101 points, the All Things Baines Leader is RDB007 with 108 points, 4Vetsβ 101 points was enough to top the All Things Mata league, Crouch Potato is in front in the All Things Walcott league with 100 points and Reedyβs 102 points sees him top the All Things Michu league.
Ginkapo and Doosraβs Itβs a Long and Winding Road competition has also started up again this season. Back on the Horse tops the main league and those leading the seven H2H leagues are: 4Vets, Canadian Football, Back on the Horse, Crouch Potato, Reedy, Scroobius Mac and Athletico Timbo.
Finally, Torres Magicβs Last Man Standing competition has seen 84 Fantasy managers knocked out, with 609 through to Round 2. Torres Magic’s Early Bird competition has seen 463 through, with 105 eliminated. Entry for the Last Man Standing competition closes at the GW2 final update.
