He’s well travelled. He’s multi-lingual. He’s just 19 points behind me. Despite my best start to a Fantasy Football season in living memory, Granville is right on my tail. In this latest episode of the ScoutCast, Granville takes delight in taunting me by wrapping his tongue around every “Pochettino” with ease, leaving me to struggle like Paul Merson with a mouth ulcer.

In between the mispronunciations, myself and the “cosmopolitan Manc” get heated about Robin Van Persie, rinse through the Gameweek 1 bandwagons, preview the weekend’s action and welcome the flying start made by this season’s ScoutCast team. It’s breathless stuff, squeezed into a low fat 40 minutes.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Coutinho, Hazard, Walcott, Snodgrass,
    Soldado (C), Dzeko, RVP (vc)

Seen so much panic on here this week. What is wrong with people? Did they not have a plan beyond GW1 or have good fantasy prospects turned bad and vice versa overnight?

I think the plan was always to drop Chelsea assets like the plague week 2. Tough fixture + blank means now's the best time to take a hit because you have two fixtures for your move to pay off.

Double game week has screwed it somewhat. So many people brought in chelsea players for the double, naturally, but don't want a team with three chelsea players for the blank or for the rest of the season. Splurge on chelsea points week one and ship em out week 2 and 3. Makes sense.

Only thing is the fantasy ticker doesn't amend this, as it was week 1, their prices couldn't rise according to ownership, but it sure can drop afterwards.

Ah my bad. I thought you meant about people jumping ship. I see your point now. Yeah there were probably plans not to take hits but I think Lukaku dropping value ruined a lot of those.

I think the plan was to hold him and ditch him in week 3. People thought he'd play and probably score and his value would keep. But when he didn't get much game time week1 and unlikely to get much this week either, a lot more got shot of him than expected

    Good morning guys!

    Mignolet - (Marshall)
    Coleman - Toure - Chester - (M.Turner - Ward)
    Hazard - Snodgrass - Walcott - Mirallas - (Kim)
    RVP - Soldado - JRod

    1) Is Hazard -> Silva the best way to get City cover?
    2) Worth a hit to do it before Silva has a price rise?

It's tempting, and would be part of a preparation to upgrade JRod.

not sure.. the fact that his price is gna rise makes it abit difficult but there are other good options for 9m if you want to wait and save the transfer. but i would probably take the hit and catch the price rise depending on how many gw points i got.

How safe is it to start with this team next week?

    Mign

    Zab - Cole - Coelman

    Hazard - Snoddy - Walcott - Mirallas - Coutinho

    Dzeko - Soldado (c)

I don't have much on the bench as Anelkas issue.

Should I get silva for one of the 9+ midfielders but get -4 points ?

It's possible, I really wanted him before the season started, but if they bring in Willian and/or Lamela he might struggle to get playing time. Holtby, or a Sandro/Capoue with Dembele/Paulinho also lurking even if they don't bring in anybody else. Basically, if Siggy continues to get minutes he could be gold but he's a risky pick long term I'd say.

It really depends on the formation AVB chooses to use, if he goes for a 4-3-3, Gylfi is not going to do well, however on the other hand if he gets to play in the hole he might be okay

    Boruc (foster)
    Ivanovic murner Coleman (Chester ward)
    Miralas hazard Wally coutinho (kim)
    Soldado dzeko Lukaku....have 1m

    A:
    Gw2: ivanovic >> any def upto 4.5
    Gw3: hazard + Lukaku >> any mid upto 6.4m + rvp.

    B:
    Gw2: ivanovic >> any def upto 5
    Gw3: hazard + Lukaku >> any mid upto 5.9 + rvp

Problem: B allows me to get a good defender but mids below 6 r limited..in both scenarios, lukakus price will drop further so I have to suffer thru that but will bring in rvp in gw3

    C:
    Gw2: Lukaku >> lambert
    Gw3: ivanovic + hazard >> def + mid upto 10.9
    Gw4: dzeko >> rvp

Problem: won't suffer thru lukakus price decline but have to stick to these transfers to get rvp in gw3 and hope his price hasn't risen by too much

I definitely would choose B over A... dont see that many mids for 6-6.4 worth getting. Im in a similar situation with Lukaku and I feel like im leaning towards getting rid of him this week for lambert then figuring out what to do about possible RVP transfer in the coming weeks. Hopefully with tough fixtures RVP wont be getting that many investors

Ben Arfa ... there's some love on here for him, it's juts that Newcastle are a bunch of plonkers at the moment. Im in the market for a mid-priced midfielder and with those fixtures he's mighty tempting - the concern is that it's him vs 11 other guys!

Same old question then - HBA, Mirallas or Snoddy

Love the Sturridge (c) - I have both soldado and stu also but currently going a bit more conservative with soldado, thou I think Sturridge might explode.

Pardon my ignorance, but why is the NTI target for price rises up to 65,000 on FISO? Wasn't it only 38,000 a couple of days ago?

That was a guess. Lots more teams so NTI is a lot higher this season.

Could also be a deliberate move by FPL to slow down the rate of price changes - which would be a good move imo.

All of you bringing in Zabaletta for a hit , are you not worried that Man C only have one fitcentreback , andits not the best one.

Last time Kompany was injured the Man C defence was terrible , and now they dont even have a replacement. I know its only Cardiff but they are odds against a clean sheet

If not this week, it'll have to be next week - and they'll have another transfer that needs doing then.

May as well do it now for a chance of 2 clean sheets.

Nasty back in training this week, and Zabaleta can provide attacking returns also. Its a calculated risk taking a hit for a defender but as most will have dropped a chelsea defender to do so there are two matches to earn back the 4 point spent acquiring him

See Bent will start which means Berbatov will play in the shadow striker role which Kasami currently occupies. So if Kasami goes from shadow striker to winger he faces competition from Taraabt, Duff, Djegah, Kaca.

That's what I thought. Liverpool looked a lot more fluent than spurs. I won't captain dzeko because there's always a chance he's benched - playing him is enough IMO.

I'm going with Sturridge. I'm a little tempted by Walcott, could see a big bounce back game by Arsenal, but I do like Sturridge more than Soldado. I think Swansea will keep it tight, they got burned playing open football against United so I think they'll be more conservative on the road.

Interesting logic. I suppose Sturridge is a more proven FPL asset but Villa away is not the same as last year while Swansea defence looked shaky last week and they are a team with strong home form.

      Agree on Dzeko.

I think the hit is worth it. Zabs likely clean sheet and more attacking potential. And as strange as it sounds, Dzeko is a more certain starter and should do the business against Cardiff.
