Sunday offers a couple of four o’clock encounters, with City facing a trip to newly promoted Cardiff, alongside a lip-smacking encounter between Europa League rivals, Tottenham and Swansea at the Lane.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side will be looking to build on the fine 4-0 win over Newcastle on Monday to inflict a second defeat on new boys Cardiff. Malky MacKay’s outfit failed to make an impression on the West Ham defence on the opening day but may fancy their chances against a City side without the services of skipper Vincent Kompany.

In North London, Swansea will arrive having suffered a 4-1 home defeat to champions United but boosted by their midweek Europa League victory which saw them put five past their Romanian opponents. They’ll meet a Spurs side also buoyed by five goals in Europe and looking to add to their three points gained at Palace last weekend, a victory that came courtesy of Roberto Soldado’s cooly taken spot-kick. All eyes will be on the Spaniard today as he sports the Fantasy armband for many.

The team news is in and as is follows:

Manuel Pellegrini makes just one change to the team that swept aside Newcastle on Monday evening. The City boss brings in Javi Garcia for the injured Vincent Kompany at the back and keeps faith in Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero up top, with Alvaro Negredo warming the bench once again. Matija Nastasic is fit enough for the subs bench as he steps up his recovery from an ankle injury.

The Bluebirds also make just a single alteration to last week’s team. Andrew Taylor returns at left-back after serving a one-match suspension, with Declan Jon dropping out. Fraizer Campbell leads the line again, though new boy Andreas Cornelius makes the bench after an ankle complaint.

At White Hart Lane, Andre Villas-Boas rolls out a 4-3-3 and hands Etienne Capoue a first start for the hosts alongside Mousa Dembele and Paulinho in central midfield, as Gylfi Sigurdsson shifts to the bench. Andros Townsend replaces the injured Aaron Lennon on the right after impressing in the midweek Europa League win over Dinamo Tblisi.

Michael Laudrup makes a couple of alterations from the side that started against Man United last week. Fit-again Jonathan de Guzman and Pablo Hernandez replace Leon Britton and Nathan Dyer, with the latter remaining sidelined with a hamstring complaint. Michu leads the line again with Jonjo Shelvey ion “the hole”, meaning Wilfried Bony warms the bench once more for the Swans.

Our Dugout Discussion chatroom is open and available throughout today’s games for those in search of some real-time chatter as events unfold.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Who would you change in this team? Been a rough start... 🙂

    Boruc (Foster)
Zaba - Kolo - Murner (Burner, Ward)
Theo - Hazard - Mirallas - Snodgrass (Williams)
    RVP - Soldado - Anelka

75 pts overall and injuries and blanks to deal with 😐
    Tips appreciated.

        why ?
All he needs is Anelka out , he can do something with Mira of he doesn't perform nw ,
        Rest looks decent IMO ,
Maybe Snod > Brady working Anelka to lambert.

Just the fact he's so low on overall pts and would need hits to fix it up, plus most will be WCing next week anyway... ain't the worst idea.

There will be dgws where he can maximise his teams potential in the future .
Scores will be low enough next week IMO , so not to worry .

I would tend to agree with this, never played my WC early before...

On the other hand, this is the worst start I could have thought of so it makes the idea more...acceptable

Doosra, I'm guessing many of the players you suggest as movable include Mirallas and Snod. There aren't exactly many alternatives in this price region so I feel as though I'd just be making a transfer for the sake of it..

              Thanks all for input.

even if he wc now , give it 2/3 weeks and he will have 4/5 movables again.
IMO wc is best used when 3/4 teams have 2 games like gw33 last season.

it really isn't a bad team overall. If I were you, I'd take a hit or two to move out Snodgrass, Anelka (on priority) to field a decent GW3 team, and then maybe Williams in a couple of weeks.
The rest of your team composition look quite alright to me. Remember, we're just two weeks in. Wouldn't panic.

I'm happy with the points I got from him but very worrying when the people who are supposed to supply him, namely Chadli, Townsend and Paulinho, all think they're strikers and shoot before trying to pick out Soldado. If the poor service and low chance creation for Soldado continues, then will have to look at either Studge or Tekkers to replace him.

Is it time took look at Spurs defense again? Spurs were terrible last season, but seem to look pretty solid now - especially so with a 3 man midfield. Also, as we're seeing the bonus points seem to favour defenders so maybe its time to re-look into old strategies and bring in more expensive defenders than in previous seasons?

Currently I've Giroud-Soldado-Aguero frontline. The latter is the only concern for me with 1st 2 doing extremely well so far. Have the plan of getting Benteke for Kun come GW 4 (after his blank).

What I'm saying it really seems like "at the moment" there are 5 viable alternatives this season (the 4 names I stated + Sturridge). Last year we didn't have this luxury.

My question is with these 5 guys offering more or less similar potential (in terms of value) as RVP, don't you guys feel life without RVP is afterall not so bad this season?

Those criticising and getting rid of soldado.

4 shots in 3 games and 4 goals.

He is slowly getting his fitness back when he starts to get used to the team and starts to get a relationship with the players (Remember he didn't have a full pre-season) you will see him having more efforts and getting in positions where his team mates can find him more.

Basically be happy with what you have and prepare for more pts 😀

So, what course of action should I take?

    A) Easy swap Hazard -> Silva, who I think look better than last year, or

    B) Ivan -> Clichy/Zaba, and take next week as it comes, keeping the possibility of
    Haz -> 5.0 (6.0) & Giroud (Soldado) -> RvP for GW4, or

    C) A&B, for a hit, requiring another hit if I really want RvP for GW4.

Flogging a dead horse I know, but with CIty not doing any favours of alleviating rotation doubt, the best front 3 (and all of them reasonable, has to be), I'm back to just Silva and eventually a defender...

    RVP - Soldado (locked in)

    3rd striker

Studge (no Coutinho if this option)
    Benteke (w Silva and Coutinho)
Giroud (can't believe I'm saying this... with no Walcott)

Anyone else set on season with anything other than that 1-2 +1
