There are no brown envelopes in sight; this “bung” is firmly placed in my nasal passages as I clamber from my man-flu grief pit to sit alongside Granville and take my Gameweek medicine. After seeing me off by 21 points, it’s only fair I gave my co-host his moment of glory, regardless of being short of match fitness.

Somehow we end up arguing about Robin van Persie once again, before taking a gander at the bandwagons rolling and preview the weekend’s action the only way we know how: by rambling endlessly and singling out some dubious player picks along the way.

        I think defenders point potential has been exaggerated by low scoring games so far, so I still think its best to load up on a top front 7.

          My own plan is for a template front 5 and use the money for 4 big defenders - Coleman is one of these. After that you just need one player so I'll rotate the rest.

    I know I'm probably in the minority and will get abuse for saying this - but is the membership for FFS rather pointless.

    I mean, sure you access to tonnes of data and stats but at the end of the day, I'll end up transferring in popular picks that have done well or have a nice run of fixtures and I don't need membership to tell me that.

    And besides, many of the 'explosion immenent' players etc. are discussed in great detail on the comments here anyway.

    CONCLUSION: Membership is over-rated.

    Alright, I'm ready for the abuse now.

      I hate stats... I prefer to go by what I see. I only use the season ticker and occasionally the comparison tool but I think it's a small price to pay to keep the site going

      It's there for people that do find it useful as an option. No harm in that. Some people subscribe to Sky and get the whole package but only ever watch 4 or 5 channels. Others watch a much bigger variety and make more use of it.

      I think for what the site gives and the fun it brings, I just see membership as a donation rather than actually make best use of what it does give me. Either way I'm happy to part with the £12.50 even if o just help keep the site running

      Disagree with the point about retarded for a free game.

      I'm playing near £100 of mini-leagues and ill take any advantage I can get to help me cash out.

      Particularly like the season ticker, membrrs articles such as the big numbers and the ability to make my own stats tables to compliment what I assess with my own eyes.

        Just because you end up going with the opinion of the majority doesnt mean that others do that.
        I.e when in doubt i use the comparison tool, great stuff.

            It's not a great deal of money though. And it's a site I use everyday. I didn't even have to think about it or ask any questions about what I was getting out of it. That being said, there are certain features I have great interest in - RMT, season ticker and the average positions. Other people will find the other features particularly useful.

            The other thing is, you talk about the popular picks but how do you think they become popular? Not all but some will be based on a player having unbelievable stats as shown in the members area and the members all getting said player in.

            Granted everyone's subject to different financial circumstances but at a quid a month I think it's barely worth thinking about.

                  there's obviously a business plan here that the guys are unlikely to divulge for obvious reasons. but they're in a good position to maybe start making loads of money, although i'm imagine they don't make anything really from it right now. probably depends on fpl becoming a paid game. but 2.5 million people playing a game means there's a lot of scope for making money

                      Fantasy sports is a profession for big players in the US and you can pretty much play for as much money as you're willing to invest.

                      Suffice to say those running this site and a lot of the members are some of the big players in an almost 3million runner game.

              0.1 or 0.2m higher TV
              1 or 2 fewer points according to RMT (possibly +2 if WHU cs)

              So many forward lines look good... Every one posted looks like the one we should have until you realise who is missing.. Any combination of RVP, Aguero, Soldado, Sturridge, Benteke, Giroud is potentially the best.... Except with RVP you only get one of the others rather than any three... and probably a weaker mid and def too... I'm prepared to suffer his televised games..

                Pepin made a good point about Dzeko the other day which I'll butcher a bit but here goes

                - Dzeko's averaged 14 goals & 6 assists with an average of 1650 minutes per year (or about half a season of minutes)
                - if he just raises his minutes to 2000, he's quite a good value at 7.7

                Other than RVP & Bentenke, not sure any of the rest will get many more goals than that

                I wouldn't ever captain him because of rotation risk, but he'll get the points.

                International break wc's are overrated... many think they will get double rises because it's two weeks but in truth it's only one longer week and nobody does anything until the games are finished. The players that rise are the ones you would keep anyway

              Could do with some help; my back line reads like the who's-who of human waste:

              Zab, Chester, Rat, Brayford, Toure

              I've already done Haz > Silva. So any defensive subs I make will be a -4. Is it really worth it to bring in a defender, bearing in mind that 3 of my 5 are unlikely to play? And if so, whom? I have 1.4 mil in bank so money is no object.

                  Yeah Colback needs to go and Dembele (as much I like him as a player) is already on the chopping block.. Have 1m in the bank to play with so maybe.
