The only thing more shocking than Miley Cyrus’ VMA performance this week was that Fraizer Campbell scored a brace against City and notched up a huge points haul. That result raised more eyebrows than Miley ever could. Luckily for managers with City men littered throughout their squads, it really should be business as usual this week.

According to Paddy Power’s odds, five of the six most likely players to score over the Gameweek wear City’s sky blue. Great news if you can get a couple of them in your squad, but bleak reading if you’re without City cover, or, indeed a Hull City Tigers fan.

Sergio Aguero is the hot favourite at 1/2 with Paddy to find the net at anytime. He’s likely to be partnered by Edin Dzeko, who is 5/6 to notch: the duo have already opened their Premier League accounts and appear to be Manuel Pellegrini’s favored strike partnership, with Alvaro Negredo is kept on the leash, at least for now.

Robin van Persie disappointed many after drawing a blank against Chelsea but that will quickly be forgiven if he scores against Liverpool on Sunday: an anytime goal is evens with Paddy. It’s also worth noting that Paddy are refunding losing bets (First Goalscorer, Last Goalscorer, Correct Score and Scorecast singles) if the Anfield clash ends all-square.

Either side of Van Persie in the betting we find further City players. David Silva has a goal and an assist to his name already this season and is 6/5 to find the net at anytime against Hull – the top ranked midfielder on show in the Gameweek. The aforementioned Negredo has played just 31 minutes of Premier League football but opened his account at Cardiff and is odds-on at 5/6 with Paddy Power to register again on Saturday.

Olivier Giroud has notched two goals in consecutive league outings this season and makes the list of top 10 most likely players to score. All 13 of his Premier League goals have come in London and, if you follow that bizarre trend, Giroud at 6/4 with Paddy to score at anytime against Spurs looks decent. If that derby ends in a draw, Paddy Power will also refund your losing bets (First Goalscorer, Last Goalscorer, Correct Score and Scorecast singles).

Behind Silva, Swansea’s Michu is the most fancied anytime scorer from midfield with Paddy offering 17/10 on a strike at the Hawthorns. Arsenal’s Theo Walcott is at 21/10 to register against Spurs, with West Ham’s Kevin Nolan just behind the Gunners man and Yaya Toure at 9/4 to get on the scoresheet against the Potters.

Hull are yet to score from open play this season and Manchester City had the best defensive record at home in the top flight last term. That, in a nutshell, is all you need to know when it comes to picking out a likely clean sheet this weekend. If you’re nursing any City defenders in your squad after Sunday’s setback, at least you’ll be confident in them keeping a shut-out this time around; they’re at 4/6 with Paddy Power.

West Ham are hard to break down at Upton Park, and they square up to a Stoke side that scored just 13 on the road last term. The Hammers are 7/5 to keep Mark Hughes’ men out on Saturday afternoon in what looks set to be a muscular war of attrition.

The biggest revelation on show in these odds is perhaps Newcastle and Crystal Palace being amongst the top five. The pair have just one Premier League point between them but are 9/5 and 2/1 respectively with Paddy Power to record a shut-out in the Gameweek. The Toon Army welcome Fulham to St James’ Park and Palace host a Sunderland side that have won just one of the last eight league games on their travels.

I disagree (with the general point). Especially in these days of extra baps for defenders. Last week I had Jedinak third sub, behind Reid and Toure. None came on, but it proved the right decision.

Odds mostly show the popularity of players being bet on, not a very good indication on potential scorers. All odds should be taken with a grain of salt as bookies look to get equal amount of cash on both sides of a 2 or 3 way bet so they make a nice safe 10% on juice. People obviously think Hull will get trashed, and Bookies adjust to that, they dont know much more than you do

    Ivan - Zab - Rat - Burner - Chester

If: (1) you're going to captain him and you think he will score more than 2 points for your next captain option (combined 4 points which would pay for transfer), and (2) you'd rather have him in your team longer term, then go for it.

Yeah I like Zab. But at 6.2 I'm only clawing back 1.3. When I add it to my bank I have 1.9 to upgrade my mids.

My mid has been criticised and to be fair I've dropped a bo**ock and invested too heavily elsewhere...... Damn you RVP.

My main concern is storming my works league which I'm currently topping comfortably at present but I'm not convinced the team will hold out long term

To be quite honest. I think Walcott is just as risky--if not more--a captain choice as Dzeko and Silva. Now, granted....Walcott is sure to start, but the main thing to think about is will your captain score/assist?

In terms of nailedonness, it goes: Walcott, Silva, and then Dzeko....
In terms of who could score well, I think that's when Dzeko moves ahead of the both of them.

Let me know what you guys think

But Dzeko's chances of starting greatly effect his chances of scoring.

Dzeko also posesses a 45% chance of a 1 pointer which would kill you

        I agree, that's why I'm saying they're all actually a similar risk.

Not really Walcott pretty much quarantees you 4 points and he is probably the player most due a goal, looking at all those shots on target. Arsenal vs Tott average about 4 goals per game if im not mistaken so there will be a chance for him I think. Especially as both teams had midweek games

As I mentioned last night, The last few derbys between Arsenal and Spurs had players like Van Persie, Bale, Van der Vaart etc. guys who pretty much scored for fun. Spurs seem to be much tighter so I dont think it will be the usual goal fest.

I'd much rather captain a player who's near enough guaranteed a start and who is a proven fpl scorer in a decent scoring fixture than a player who is not guaranteed to even start.

They are all usually involved in their team's goals.

Who's team is more likely to score more goals"?

Who is more nailed on from that team?

Problem with that move is you will have already missed the best part of Nolan's schedule. It gets pretty wretched after GW4.
