With goals a premium from Saturday’s matches, we roll into Sunday with high expectations. Today’s fixtures certainly give us room for optimism.

Proceedings get underway shortly at the Hawthorns and Anfield, where West Brom go in search of their first goal of the season against a Swansea side still looking to get a first point on the board. Alongside that affair, we’ve the small matter of Liverpool’s clash with United – a match that hosts an array of Fantasy talent, not least Robin van Persie, adorning the captain’s armband for many.

Later today, we’re treated to the North London derby. A clash which rarely disappoints when it comes to goals and incidents. It’s fair to say that we’re expecting fireworks again, as Arsenal attempt to keep momentum after the win at Fulham, while Andre Villas-Boas’ side arrive at the Emriates with a 100% record and without a league goal conceded.

The team news from the early kick-offs is in and is as follows:

Liverpool make just one change to the side that edged past Villa in Gameweek 2. Kolo Toure’s failure to recover from a groin injury sustained in midweek allows Martin Skrtel to partner Daniel Agger in central defence as the Reds attempt to register their third successive shut-out of the season.

For United, Wayne Rooney is absent with a head wound – David Moyes has confirmed he will be sidelined “for a few weeks” with the injury. The United boss brings in Ryan Giggs and Ashley Young on the flanks and drops Antonio Valencia to the bench – Giggs’ inclusion looks set to see Danny Welbeck moved centrally once again after he was shifted to the flank to accommodate Rooney’s return against Chelsea last Monday.

Michael Laudrup hands Wilfried Bony his first Premier league start at the Hawthorns. Jonathan de Guzman drops out in the only change from the side that lost at Spurs last weekend –Bony, Ashley Williams and Jonjo Shelvey all recover from the knocks that kept them out of midweek Europa League action, with the Ivorian’s inclusion allowing Michu to return to his preferred role in “the hole”.

Steve Clarke makes three alterations for the hosts. Boaz Myhill replaces the injured Ben Foster between the sticks, Nicolas Anelka is back after being granted compassionate leave last week, while Scott Sinclair is handed his first league start for the Baggies against his old club – Graham Dorrans and Markus Rosenberg are the men to drop out.

Our Dugout Discussion chatroom is now accepting vistors for the early kick-off and will remain open until the final kick at the Emirates.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Is this international break really the right time to WC?

I had intended to press the button but...

    1) We won't know which last minute signings are going to be the 'Michu' and which will be the 'Mikkel Beck'

    2) With the scoring in the Premier League still hideously low, do we really know which midfielders will be the high scorers at the end of the campaign?

    3) Likewise, the defenders are all picking up points so the picture is far from clear at the other end.

Does it not make more sense to keep a watching brief and wait for the dust to settle?

Mikkel Beck had the best hair but, as a Derby fan, I still struggle to believe we paid 'Boro £350,000 for him on mid-season transfer deadline day...when he was out of contract at the end of the season. Jim Smith was awesome...except then.

Amen brother - I had always planned to WC at this point thinking squads would have settled and diamonds-in-the-rough would have emerged. All seems very muddy still with no clear 'must have' targets in any potion.

I will likely ship Dzeko this week and then sit back and wait. Very itchy fingered around Mirallas, Coutinho, Soldado, etc but no real compelling alternatives out there. Had Hernandez on my watch list, but Swans fixtures aren't great.

I think in another 3 GWs the WC will have a lot more value, even if your team's has dipped a little. It is a long old season...

Indeed it is. I'm not desperate to bin anyone off although, like you, I've been bitterly disappointed by Mirallas thus far. Ben Arfa could be a viable alternative with Newcastle's fixtures...?

Yeah, I like Barfa as well. Thinking of shifting to a mid-priced midfield to free up cash (Sinclair, Barfa, Hernandez, maybe keep Hazard and a 4.5) then keep the heavy hitting forwards (RVP, Benteke, Sturridge) and 4 solid defenders to balance the new system (Terry, Dawson, Coleman, Collins maybe).

Still think waiting for a couple weeks though to let so,e of that dust settle makes sense. Before today was eyeing up Paulinho or Lemala for Totts cover. Ramsay an idea as well. Me interesting to see where Ozil lands as that could work well. Also expect one of the MUFC mids (Nani, Kags, Valencia, probably not Young) to emerge as a real option.

Away on hols soon, with maybe no internet. Sturridge looks the man for scouse cover, and no longer want Dzeko as have two other City players.

    Coutinho+Dzeko > Brady+Sturridge make sense with 2FT's?

    Gives me GW4

    Mignolet
    Coleman Zabaleta Clyne/Collins
    Brady Silva Walcott Mirallas Wanyama
    RVP(c) Sturridge

any over-reacting to spurs losing 1-0 at the emirates is ridiculous...hardly a terrible result considering the 5-2 defeats the past 2 years did not spell doom and gloom...going to take sometime for the new faces to settle...arsenal had little besides the 1 goal

Lloris was fantastic...I'm just saying, if Spurs had pulled one back at the end it would not have been that surprising...and then the narrative becomes "Spurs show tremendous spirit and determination" instead of "Spurs just wasted £100m"
