Last week we updated the Fantasy Football Scout “Hall of Fame” or “HoF”. You can access this via the HOF tab at the top of the site or via this page.

The Hall of Fame is a ranking system which we apply to everyone in our Fantasy Premier League (FPL) mini-leagues – both the free and the members league. In a nutshell it tracks the performances of every manager over each of the seasons they have participated and awards a “HoF rating” accordingly.

The “HoF Rating” is based on points scores from previous FPL campaigns, with the latest season weighted the heaviest and each corresponding season weighted at roughly 80% that of the previous year. So, in other words, those who performed best in 2013/13 will receive a bigger HoF Rating boost from those who did best in 2006/07. The “HoF Rating” even allows for those with missing years, adapting the formula accordingly to allocate managers a rank alongside the veterans of the FPL. It’s not a guaranteed way of identifying the best FPL managers in the Fantasy Football Scout Leagues, but we think it’s pretty good at identifying those who have displayed good consistency.

We generate two separate tables in the Hall of Fame. The “Career” table that updates every year and a “Live” table that will be updated using the latest season data, after every Gameweek. Everyone can see the “Career” table via the link but Fantasy Football Scout members also get to see a live table via the Members Area which inludes current 2013/14 points totals in the table and takes these into account when calculating the HoF rating. This can be more than a little bit helpful and reassuring in that, using the team ids in the table, you can examine the squads and transfer activity of some of the top FPL managers.

For example, Career Hall of Fame leader, Ulrik Nylund is clearly a hugely successful FPL boss, having masterminded three top 200 finishes in six seasons. Indeed, Ulrik is yet to finish outside of the top 8000 in any of those seasons – an incredible level consistency. Interestingly, however, he’s currently sitting on 179 points and is ranked just inside the top 300,000. Having said that, his wildcard is currently active, perhaps reflecting his start to the campaign.

If you want to get yourself in the Hall of Fame, simply sign up to our leagues, either the Fantasy Football Scout Classic League (1580-1106), or if you’re a member, the Members Classic League – the code is available on the dashboard of the Members Area. You will be entered and visible on the table once the next Gameweek deadline passes and FPL leagues are updated.

For more information on how the Hall of Fame works, view the movie below in which I talk through the tables with its creator, “Professor” Chris Atkinson.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

              Definitley Non-RvP for me.

Although I'd question Coleman and a CS defender now that Fellaini has gone.

And I'd choose non-playing keeper who havs no chance dropping in price like Etheridge.

Plus a Brady/Whittingham combo gives a decent 5th mid option as both are on set pieces and/or pens.

thanks sporting more to ponder for me i guess haha

yea i agree, whittingham might be a better option than kim given that he's on set piece duties

i'm keeping coleman because i got him @ 5m, will keep him for the potential price rise

In Holland they're expected to win every game with flair. But if they don't, the Dutch just give a shoulder shrug and carry on.

      Mate...impossible to split.

Lamp will do excellent but miss 25% of games
Lamela will be a top asset but who knows how long it'll take him to settle
Soldado. Spurs only striker...everything will go through him
Sturridge. Better than Soldado it seems but injury prone and Suarez back soon...

Sure. Who knows how it will affect his output. For me best 3 options are:

Giroud (price n surrounded by awesome midfs)
Suarez (when he comes back will have so much to prove)
          Bony (once fit, will smash)

Just my thoughts anyway. My team has done terrible this year so far

Netherlands were pressing so lots of fouls and timewasting for Estonia, I think Vassiljev also got the yellow arguing the pen call and red for Piiroja.

Martins should have gotten 2 reds went studs first almost to the keepers face and second time to a player. Piiroja first yellow I think was for fighting Martins after he clattered our keeper.

Dont remember why Robben got one, Kuyt got 1 for diving in the box, while the ref felt bad for Estonia after giving Netherlands a soft pen.

It was great to go out and see all the Netherlands fans bummed who had set up huge celebrations in out city to rub it in our face if they won. They faces were priceless 😀

    Here's some food for thought:

Manchester United have a promising run of fixtures over the next few game weeks:
CRY,man city, WEST BROM,SUN, SOH, STO, FUL, arsenal, CAR, tottenham, EVE, NEW, VILLA, HAM, HUL.

That's 12 out of the next 15 matches that Manchester United will likely win.

    The Fellaini improvement:
With Fellaini now in the squad, Manchester United finally have a ball winning defensive midfielder who will play box to box and provide an extra layer of defence infront of Rio, Vidic etc. This is something that is bound to improve the amount of cleansheets the team will be getting over these games. Moyes has said himself that Fellaini is best suited to defensive midfield and only played him upfront last season to make up for Everton's lack of attacking talent. It is likely he will play in this defensive midfield role, giving Carrick more freedom to run and pass up the field.

    Improved prospects for United defence:
With this in mind - I have brought in Rio Ferdinand for 5.5 to replace Kolo Toure. This required departing with an extra 0.5m but I reckon it will be worth it for a few reasons:

    1. Increased clean sheet potential - with Fellaini playing infront of the defence instead of Ando or Cleverly alongside Carrick, we have someone here who can break up play and is a very good ball winner. He's good at pressing opponents and winning aerial battles.

    2. Central defenders have been getting a lot of bonus points this season - with Fellaini in the team, there will be a lot more cases now where opposing teams try to kick the ball over and past him to their players, this will lead to more potential clearances for the CBs at United, leading to more baps being distributed to these players.

    3. Moyes is known for being "negative". This isn't a bad thing, nor will it change the way Manchester United traditionally play (i.e. with wingers dominating attacking play and feeding the strikers); but what it does do is put an increased emphasis on how the team defends. Everton had one of the toughest defences in the league to crack before Moyes left - I expect this to unfold at Manchester United as well once he adapts his style of football to the Man Utd philosophy.

          Zab, Toure, Figueroa, Celustka, Brayford
          Walcott, Michu, Silva, Mirallas, Jedinak
          Sturridge, Soldado, Lambert

1FT and 0.9m in the bank.

I have a feeling that Toure could be back in time for GW4 and I'm figuring that he'll get 70 mins before Sakho is unleashed.

Plus Coleman is not as attractive as a CS magnet without Fellaini in front of him.

I might just wait on the Toure/Sturridge thing.

Might need to bring in Benteke of Studge is out.

Other than that, it's Celustka out to have some half decent defensive cover if Toure is a no-go.

I'm in my wildcard and i'm fairly happy with this. Any comments would be appreciated though:

          Westwood Boruc
Turner (car), Jenkinson, Coleman, Collins, Ferdinand
          Delph, Walcott, Colback, Yaya, Lamps
          Benteke, Giroud, RVP

I've only got 0.1 in the bank so can to Benteke to sturridge if desired.

Other questions are the best 4.5m keepers to rotate, the best 4m defender and the best 4.5m mid.

          Help!

Jenkinson to M Turner (Jenkinson not nailed on)

Ferdinand to Koscielny (Ferdinand not nailed on, and you'll save .1 with Koscielny)

Colback to James Ward-Prowse (Colback probably losing his starting job to a new arrival; Ward-Prowse leading the entire league in a few passing statistics and closing in on his first price-rise)

Not sure about Delph, but not sure what else you're going to do at 4.5 that's any more useful.

Personally not a fan of owning either Yaya and Lamps, though they have their supporters. I think I'd rather do one 9 and one 7ish.
9s: Michu, Lamela, Coutinho (my order of preference)
7s: Mirallas, Nolan, Ben Arfa (my order of preference)

            Front line is good.

I might look at Marshall instead of Westwood. Cardiff solid at the back. Westwood looks like he'll get points for saves but will be lucky to get 5 clean sheets, at least until Di Canio is fired.

toying around with my team just as im bored
im not going for RVP but I have found the team I would go for if he suddenly became a must.

          Migs (4.0)

          Ivan, Vidic, Collins, Clyne, Chester
          Wally, Yaya, Brady, Redmond, JWP
          RVP, Giroud, Sturridge/Benteke

still with 0.5 in the bank.so Yaya could even become Michu.

Gunnarson/Whittingham/Kim then. Just a template for now.

          a. Best - Man Utd defender to get?
          or
          b. Just shift Mignolet to Degea?

Most think Vidic. I think Ferdinand is a really good pick at 5.5

Mignolet to De Gea seems sideways to me. Evra or vidic if I was picking one, probably the former as Vidic hasn't played a full season in quite a while.
