Last week we updated the Fantasy Football Scout “Hall of Fame” or “HoF”. You can access this via the HOF tab at the top of the site or via this page.

The Hall of Fame is a ranking system which we apply to everyone in our Fantasy Premier League (FPL) mini-leagues – both the free and the members league. In a nutshell it tracks the performances of every manager over each of the seasons they have participated and awards a “HoF rating” accordingly.

The “HoF Rating” is based on points scores from previous FPL campaigns, with the latest season weighted the heaviest and each corresponding season weighted at roughly 80% that of the previous year. So, in other words, those who performed best in 2013/13 will receive a bigger HoF Rating boost from those who did best in 2006/07. The “HoF Rating” even allows for those with missing years, adapting the formula accordingly to allocate managers a rank alongside the veterans of the FPL. It’s not a guaranteed way of identifying the best FPL managers in the Fantasy Football Scout Leagues, but we think it’s pretty good at identifying those who have displayed good consistency.

We generate two separate tables in the Hall of Fame. The “Career” table that updates every year and a “Live” table that will be updated using the latest season data, after every Gameweek. Everyone can see the “Career” table via the link but Fantasy Football Scout members also get to see a live table via the Members Area which inludes current 2013/14 points totals in the table and takes these into account when calculating the HoF rating. This can be more than a little bit helpful and reassuring in that, using the team ids in the table, you can examine the squads and transfer activity of some of the top FPL managers.

For example, Career Hall of Fame leader, Ulrik Nylund is clearly a hugely successful FPL boss, having masterminded three top 200 finishes in six seasons. Indeed, Ulrik is yet to finish outside of the top 8000 in any of those seasons – an incredible level consistency. Interestingly, however, he’s currently sitting on 179 points and is ranked just inside the top 300,000. Having said that, his wildcard is currently active, perhaps reflecting his start to the campaign.

If you want to get yourself in the Hall of Fame, simply sign up to our leagues, either the Fantasy Football Scout Classic League (1580-1106), or if you’re a member, the Members Classic League – the code is available on the dashboard of the Members Area. You will be entered and visible on the table once the next Gameweek deadline passes and FPL leagues are updated.

For more information on how the Hall of Fame works, view the movie below in which I talk through the tables with its creator, “Professor” Chris Atkinson.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Dempsey having an awful game for the US. I just started to come around to him, too. He had a good 18 months there, thought it was for good.... this performance puts me right back into the mindset that always doubted him.

He's looked awful in the MLS. Very disappointed he chose to move home, think he should have challenged himself more in Europe. He left Fulham to pursue Champions League football and push himself just a year ago...now he's moved to the MLS. He almost just missed that penalty too. Very lucky it wasn't kept out

I don't really understand the move still. I suppose there's a logic to recognizing you're not in AVB's plans and acting accordingly, but the Sounders? He's always seemed to be a temperamental player, and I can't help but worry that this move has mentally set him back. 2014 is all that really matters, I suppose, so there's still time. But Brazil won't be any more welcoming than this...

Costa Rica dangerous on the counter. Not much impetus otherwise, but still a threat to turn it into 3-1.

Dempsey just hit the post from a nice Donovan set up. THe game is definitely still in the balance.

Where can you see if players are due to rise? I've used my wildcard and I'm trying to play the market. Also, I know everyone's going to laugh at me, but this week I have a funny feeling about Nacer Chadli. Even though his touch and decision-making leave something to be desired at times, he does get into dangerous areas and play piercing balls. If Spurs are to score from open play, he will likely be providing service from the wings and getting goals from cutting inside and linking with Eriksen and Lamela

I like TotalFPL over Fiso: http://development.totalfpl.com/pricechanges

I think Chadli will have a big week soon enough. Not sure he'll replicate it consistently, but if he's in your team when it comes, it will look genius.

Luckily the price changes are happening slowly...doing dzeko >> rvp this gw but need to find 1.6m

    Boruc (foster)
    coleman chester ivan (murner ward)
    wally tarabt coutinho miralas (kim)
    soldado lambert Rvp

A: Ivan >> 4.9m def (-4)...mbiwa/hughes are options which will allow a decent rotation with rest of my defenders for the next few gw's. Frees up funds tied up in Ivan

B: Miralas >> 5,9m mid (-4)..brady/ramsey...next gw could be prob with kim/tarabt/brady having tough matches

C: ivan + miralas >> koscielny + barfa/paulinho (-8)...the best option as it frees up funds from ivan and still get a big hitter defender to play every gw nd get a decent mid BUT involves two hits

D: foster + miralas >> myhill + hernandez (-8)...not sure about this option but will need a gk next gw with boruc at lpool

Hey guys -- Conrad, TW and I have been working on a single ownership FPL league through a site called Fantrax. They've both been sorting out the different divisions but we are drafting this weekend and are a couple of owners short. TW did a draft on Friday and they had a god time. If any of you are interested here is an overview Conrad created:

    https://sites.google.com/site/thefpdl/rules-summary

If you want to join us Sunday night at 9:30 Eastern here in America, there are a few spots available for the live draft in the Red Division. Shoot me your email and I can send you an invite.

Altidore got a cheap stupid yellow in the 91st minute and now will miss Mexico.

Frustratedly bumped the keeper on an 80/20 challenge. Very stupid.

I just think it's way out of order that the fourth place team in that group will play off against an Asian team for a fourth spot. Do have it right? It just seems odd - the top three in that group go to the WC right?

So the top three out of six and possibly a fourth goes to the WC? That's incredible. It's like they're just handing out spots

Its not 3 or 4 out of 6. There was a 12 team (3 groups of 4) qualifying round before this one, and 2 more rounds before that. Of course, only the 8 or so North and Central American teams, along with Cuba and Jamaica have much of a making it to the hexaganal, but it's not like half the teams in CONCACAF get a spot in the WC.

last 3 world cups (this century), 5 teams have made it past the group stage, 5 teams have not (we had 4 teams in 2006 by taking Oceana's playoff spot). That's fairly competitive.

12 is another option. Give Africa 5.... imperialism and all that...

I'm kidding. I actually do feel the injustice that European teams must feel when they lose that 2nd-place playoff. If CONCACAF ends up like it is now (US, Costa Rica & Honduras) and France & Sweden/Ireland lose their playoff games (as teams are wont to do in one-off situations), it does make the tournament that much less competitive.

Still can't help but want some underdogs to be in there. Bulgaria in '94. Ghana in '10. Qatar in '22.

I agree that it's good to see underdogs in there who don't get in that often. Am just trying to understand the whole system a little better.

Hello, me and some friends were looking to come down from Glasgoe and see a Premier League match. It looks as though one of those membership thingys is a must, is that right? Does anyone kniw any other legitimate way of getting tickets in advance? We were looking towards a Liverpool game, preferably against decent opposition, but not picky really! Any help massively appreciated.
