This evening we roll out the final article in our three-part series assessing the stand-out attacking statistics over the first three Gameweeks. Having cast our analytical eye over the Defenders and Midfielders, we turn our attentions up front.

Say that again.

You get my point, a page or two applauding the quality of the match is not gonna do any harm.

come on now folk, lets make light and move on.
Pinkfish, are you doing the Sun Dream Team?Open Controls-
Yes . I'm in. Struggling with my transfers atm.
Open Controls-
I was back and forth for a while. Had a good start and I'm top of my friends' 101 man minileague on 193 with Hazard, Coutinho and Luna my three underachievers.
Rose and Ozil were my first two considerations since Spurs got rid of BAE, then i remembered that the Sun don't show love to the creators and decided Özil was effectively a trap.
Went for Sakho, Lamela and Oscar with my changes in the end.Open Controls-
Really good insight to your thinking but Ozil could be a mistake as he really could deliver on "Star" many times coupled with goals but also enhances Giroud and Walnuts (maybe Caz).
Difficult to choose too many from same team as Star man carries a lot of weight in the absence of assists.Open Controls-
It's the main reason i dislike the Sun's format. No points for assists! Mental.
So of your players, which 3 or 4 are you least happy with?Open Controls

@ Somalion
Yeah actually pretty much the same as Suarez in his first 2 seasons 🙂 . But we must remember that was in the PL not in the Bundesliga as Arnoutovic. Suarez scored 35 in his last season in Erdevisie, Arnautovic scored 12 😀Open Controls-
Oh you're entirely correct Kostja, I was more being a smart arse than anything 😉 My point is much more that at 5.5, if played up top for even a few matches and if Hughes were to smack some sense into him he could be a great buy. But an absolute punt right now!
Open Controls-
naah man, good discussion. Surprised to see him on the same level as Suarez- did not know he was as bad too. Defo need to keep an eye on him as well as Ireland at Stoke
Open Controls-
Well to be honest I was more guessing at Suarez, I'm a huge fan of Luis and have noticed that he fires a lot of wides. Ireland is a puzzle, once again a fine player but attitude is absolutely lousy. Arnautovic is arrogant, Ireland just plain hates playing football.
Open Controls-
Irelands 9 goal 10 assist season did come under Hughes so maybe he can get him back to playing well. He was incredible to watch that season

Would someone please RMT. I've WC'd and this is my 20th draft : )
Chesny
Vidic/Ferdinand/Chambers
Erikesen/Lamps/Wally/Ward-P
Giroud/RVP/Benteke
Brady/Chester/TurnerOpen Controls-
I would personally downgrade Szczesny to Boruc, and upgrade Chambers. I don't think Chambers will play long term.
Open Controls-
OK. Good plan. Cheers.

When Champions League kicks in, Rio will be rested, can't play 3 games in a week.
Open Controls -
wouldnt double up on two old united defenders
Open Controls -
The back end
Szczesny to Mignolet because then you can avoid doubling on ManU defense by
Ferdinand to Koscielny
unless you'd rather Ferdinand to Sakho, and keep Szczesny
Chambers not nailed on, Clyne will replace
Which Turner?
Like Vidic
Mid
Eriksen is very punty when we have no idea how Spurs will gel as a team yet, let alone how he will play individulaly
Don't like Lamps, he hasn't had more than 12 goals in consecutive seasons in 8 or so year. Had 1 assist last year. He's 35
Would change Eriksen & Lamps to one 9.0 and one 7.0
Walcott is template essential
Ward-Prowse & Brady rotation is fine for now. W-P may have risk of not starting despite set pieces.
Forwards:
Template solid as can be.Open Controls

Clear Plans
This big numbers post would seem a good time to reveal my strategy so far...being as it covers it nicely...
Came into the season with a strategy or two...I've been guilty in the past of chasing last weeks heroes and worrying about missing the risers...blah blah blah...
So my strategy this year was to plum for those players who like a shot on goal regardless of how they did FPL wise the previous week...therefore, i've currently got a front eight of ...Paulinho/Barkley/Mirallas/HBA/RVP/Giroud/Sturridge/Silva(>Walcott) with a combined shots on goal total of 90 attempts....plus Walker and Coleman who show the strogest attacking stats from defence (other than Baines (price prohibitive (?))http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/3829/
In terms of transfers my strategy is to watch the fallers more than the risers...hence the falling stars post earlier in the week (which i intend to keep going)...
No idea if i will fall flat on my face or not (suspect i will) but that's been the plan..plus a little local knowledge...So i wondered..does anybody else have a clear plan or is it all on the hoof ?Open Controls-
you should look at shots from inside the box more than just any shots. HBA and especially Paulinho rarely play in the box. And Paulinho especiall y is a bad pick IMO as he wont get to go as forward as he did before eriksen and Lamela arrived
Open Controls -
My plan is to get goal scorers rather than any other type of player ie Walcott over Ozil and also not to be scared to double/triple up if i think the form/fixtures warrant it.
Open Controls -
I'll try that link again...http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/3829/
Open Controls-
Nice table Wakey.
I think the problem is with the quality of shot though.Open Controls
-
-
Is it working?
Open Controls -
Stats are only one tool in the arsenal of a fantasy manager and although they can be used to assess performances and identify players who are more likely to have long-term success, an all-round approach is the best.
Open Controls-
I have no doubt you are right...(stats exclude Ozil, Lamela, Sakho and co...which is just plain daft)...however i'm interested to see where it leads me and how valid (or invalid) it is as a strategy...I enjoy playing the game and i'm not bothered at all by overall rank just as long as i duff up my lads on a weekend with a few "i told you so's"

Which set of players looks best for a WC?: (Bear in mind GK is Migs backup, assuming Sturridge is fit)
a) Marshall, Vidic, Walker, Michu/another 9.2m, Sturridge.
b) 4.0 GK, Coleman, B Turner, HBA, RVP ??Open Controls-
God when you look at it like that, I have to say A looks way way better. This is coming from an RVP owner. But im in a constant state of flux as to whether I want an RVP team or not.

Any of ye with an Irish IP, or some technological jiggery pokery, watch this. A classic yesterday in Pairc and Chrocaigh, the All Ireland Hurling Final, complete game plus analysis. The best sport in the world. I like tennis but it's just a richman's hurling 😉

I watched dublin beat Kerry last Saturday in gailic football if that helps.

Was a great game. Some really fine hurling. Clare the better team on the day but failed to put it away and should be a great replay. Played tennis and hurling and there is little comparison between the two.

Makes sense to get rid of Aguero given he's playing in South America on Wednesday, yeah?
Open Controls-
A lovely, shiny "+1" to whoever can do the best job of filling my 3 remaining midfield slots 🙂
I have Walcott to play every week, and HBA to play most weeks, not averse to rotating him.Open Controls -
Makes sense anyway Jamsiep.
You getting Suarez again this season, I know you were a fan of him last season?Open Controls -
I'm getting rid of Aguero and Silva. Feels strange, not having any City cover, after it was so sought after last week.
Open Controls -

Distin is nailed on yes? I would rather Coleman of course but the extra moolah would be handy.
Open Controls-
Yeah he's nailed on, but I'd definitely fork out the extra for Coleman if possible.

So... Djokovic doubters, that potential shift in momentum we were discussing...

Djokovic in 4 sets imo.

Matthew Connolly is over 200% to fall on Fiso, so his price should go down in a week or so.

A lovely, shiny "+1" to whoever can do the best job of filling my 3 remaining midfield slots 🙂
I have Walcott to play every week, and HBA to play most weeks, not averse to rotating him. Remaining budget of £19.4m, don't want a Chelsea/City player. Go!Open Controls-
1) Moses leaves 13.2
2) I say Eriksen for your budget, leaves 5.2.
3) Any mid for that value, Brady is well liked right now.
So
Wally HBA Moses Eriksen Brady.
Decent enough methinks.Open Controls-
This is exactly what I have been mulling over all day. Are you confident Eriksen will start GW4?
The consensus seems to be that Lamela is the more "nailed on" of the two, but the 1m difference is the killer (plus I don't think I've ever actually seen Lamela play!)
Eriksen, despite the views of a certain poster on here, definitely isn't David Bentley v2.0Open Controls-
Oh I don't believe for a second he's a Bentley mark 2, no more than Lamela is a Lennon v2.
Now, my preference is for Lamela because he prefers goals to assists. Eriksen however does still offer value. I imagine he'll be a regular started personally but I cannot guarantee anything, I imagine Siggy is going to be wanting to play a bit.Open Controls

Lamela Brady Ward-Prowse - 1 left over
or
Michu Brady Ward-Prowse - 1 left over
or
Mirallas (once 7.4) P Hernandez (6.1 now) Fer (Norwich, 6.0) - nothing leftOpen Controls -
coutinho, brady, kim
Open Controls -
Lamela (9m) because fixtures are shaping up and he is a greedy player. Styled in the Bale mould.
Brady (5.1m) because he is nailed on, has good short - medium term fixtures, is an attacking threat.
Ward Prowse (4.5m) because he is in great form, takes corners, deep free kicks and is super value.
Total: £18.6m
the 0.8 in the bank grants you some flexibility on your premium option but i'd say Michu (at 9m) is the safe bet if you dont fancy the Lamela-puntOpen Controls-
Hmm. What do you think of JWP's chances of starting for the next few weeks? They have an awful lot of midfield options. Although I suppose with 0.8 left it gives me the option to get Redmond/Kim etc instead.
Lamela nailed on? I have Soldado up top, so worth going for Michu instead? My concern with him is whether Swansea's Europa League campaign will affect his minutes.Open Controls-
It's all speculation my friend. I like the Lamela punt, but then, I like the risk reward option and i know it doesn't always pay off.
With Brady playing Cardiff though, i see this as a risk worth taking - If Lamela doesnt play and i get Brady's points i wouldnt be upset however Brady did. That's what he is there for and this is one of the best weeks to call on him.
There is the chance that he could troll my team by getting off the bench for 30 mins or so if AVB wants him to get some time on the pitch but not start him, but he did that already against Arsenal so i fancy AVB to have him in his plans for Norwich.
Michu could go in for this week (although that is against the leagues meanest defence) with a view to switching if Lamela does well.
WP, again a bit punty, but i doubt he'll get in your team anyway. Of course, Kim is another good option and is affordable.
Good luck with your final decisions!Open Controls

Brady is getting a lot of love here!
Open Controls
-
Silva>Michu for a -4 ? already have Bony tho. but i'd have to play either Colback/Chester if Silva doesn't play.
Open Controls-
I'd leave Michu for the next couple of weeks to be honest.
Is Silva's knock so bad that he's expected to miss the Stoke game?Open Controls
