With the first international break finally behind us, we can get back to domestic matters at last as the Gameweek 4 deadline edges ever-nearer. Tottenham and United supply our XI with a couple of players apiece ahead of home games against Norwich and Palace respectively, while Southampton, Hull and Fulham have a say in the Scout Picks squad as we turn to the mid-price bracket for balance:

We opt for Artur Boruc as Southampton prepare to welcome West Ham to St Mary’s. The visitors’ dire away form harvested a mere 11 goals on their travels last term and, devoid of the injured Andy Carroll, the Hammers have fired blanks in each of their last two, suggesting a home clean sheet could well be on the cards.

Brede Hangeland gets the nod as Fulham play host to West Brom. The big centre-half earned maximum bonus in helping his side to their only clean sheet thus far – bearing in mind the Baggies have yet to find the net this season, Hangeland looks a strong shout here, with his aerial threat offering the potential of points at both ends of the pitch.

While much of the recent focus has been on Tottenham’s new midfielders, we turn to their classy centre-back as Norwich roll up to the Lane. Jan Vertonghen’s eye for goal delivered five strikes in his debut season in the top-flight last term and with two clean sheets and three bonus points already under his belt, he looks a real contender against a Canaries side that failed to score against 10-man Hull in their only road trip of the season.

Yet to pick up any attacking points, Patrice Evra has, nevertheless, offered plenty threat down the United left. While David Moyes may consider alternating his centre-halves ahead of next week’s Champions League home clash with Bayer Leverkusen, the Frenchman’s security of starts earns him the nod as Palace make their way to Old Trafford tomorrow lunchtime.

Passed fit after shrugging off the knock that forced him off during England’s midweek match with Ukraine, Theo Walcott is welcomed into the Scout Picks as Arsenal head to out-of-sorts Sunderland. The Gunners winger has been unlucky not to find the net thus far but looks a good bet to break his scoring duck against a Black Cats side that were beaten soundly by Crystal Palace last time out.

With doubts still surrounding the fitness of Daniel Sturridge, we’ve opted for the security offered by Philippe Coutinho as Liverpool roll up to the Liberty on Monday evening. The arrival of Victor Moses could finally allow the Brazilian to shift from the flank into the role in “the hole” behind a lone forward and wreak havoc against Michael Laudrup’s side as the Reds look to maintain their 100% unbeaten record.

Having opened his account for the season in the previous Gameweek, we hand Hatem Ben Arfa the chance to produce the goods again as Newcastle make their way to Villa Park. Joint-top for goal attempts by midfielders over the first three fixtures, the Magpies man faces a Villa side that has conceded in each of their last 25 league fixtures – you have to go all the way back to Gameweek 16 of last term to find the last time Paul Lambert’s side kept a clean sheet.

Robbie Brady affords Fantasy managers a cut-price midfield option this weekend as Hull prepare for the visit of fellow new boys Cardiff. The Tigers spot-kick taker registered an 11 point-haul in his previous appearance at the KC and will be looking to take advantage of a Bluebirds side with major worries over first-choice stopper David Marshall.

A home game with Crystal Palace looks tailor-made for Robin Van Persie to produce the goods domestically after back-to-back blanks against Chelsea and Liverpool. The United forward warmed up with three goals for Holland over the international break and carries the captaincy hopes of many into tomorrow’s early kick-off.

He may have yet to score during open play for Tottenham in the league but we’re banking Roberto Soldado to grab the goals as Norwich roll up to the Lane tomorrow. Having found the net for Spain in midweek, the summer signing from Valencia looks in the mood and with Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela likely to be handed their home debuts, could be handed plenty of chances to put the Canaries to the sword.

With three goals to his name already, Christian Benteke has wasted little time in reproducing the form that took the top-flight by storm in the latter part of the previous campaign. A home clash against Newcastle offers Villa’s brilliant Belgian the chance to deliver the points again and, having already breached the Arsenal and Chelsea backlines, Benteke is second top in this week’s Captain Poll for those eyeing up an armband alternative to Van Persie.

Hull’s James Chester warms the bench for a home clash with Cardiff. At 4.0 in FPL, the Tigers centre-half looks solid value and has already returned a clean sheet and bonus point in his only fixture at the KC so far.

We hand Adel Taarabt a chance to impress as Fulham entertain West Brom at the Cottage. With the Baggies influx of new signings still needing to gel, Martin Jol will be hoping the Moroccan can turn on the magic and steer the hosts to a vital three points after recent back-to-back defeats.

A home showdown with West Ham brings Rickie Lambert into contention tomorrow afternoon. The Saints forward has yet to notch from open play but, as our members data confirms, he’s shown plenty of attacking threat so far and his contribution is likely to be decisive as the Saints go in search of their second win of the season.

Cout will defo be a 100+ MID as long as he stays injury free. Don't see Hernandez hitting big as I am not sure about his consistency. He's got decent stats though! Going for Whittingham for my 5.0-6.0 range MID. I believe that Redmond will make a decent option too. Another exciting prospect is Arnautovic! Definitely will watch Stoke this weekend to evaluate whether he is worth it. Only thing keeping me away from Stoke players is the muppet Mark Hughes...

Definitely won't be a long term scenario though! That said, I feel that the Premier League has lost a lot of value (in terms of World Class players) over the past few years. Therefore, the MIDs just won't be as explosive!

Quite similar to mine in DEF. Not so sure about how Coleman will do in the future, especially given Martinez's woeful defensive record. Can't comment on Turner. Otherwise DEF looks very solid! You might want to consider downgrading Zab to free up funds in midfield.
Midfield is unimpressive if I must be honest. Only big hitter I see there is Walcott. Brady will definitely get you points; but the question is whether he can pull off a Michu. I would suggest getting rid of JWP, but that's just me. I've heard talk of him being dropped at some point (but this is just FFS talk about Soton forums).
Can't fault the ATT. Defo got goals in them! Basically, you have great captaincy options there. Long term though, you'll have to evaluate Lambert's effective compared to similar priced options such as Lukaku, Osvaldo and Bent.

Hey, thanks for your time and your opinion, much appreciated! 🙂
I agree with midfield being unimpressive but none of the options I've seen have persuaded me into chasing them, even if I can free the funds. That's why I'm sticking with solid defense and very good (imho) attack for now. I'm prepared to take point hits later if I'm proven wrong.

Lamela and Sess are at the top of my wishlist atm! Obviously, both are a bit punty.... Loool.
Since the MIDs situation, rotation and performance wise, is so dynamic these choices could change as soon as tomorrow! What about you?

Looking good! I reckon you'll have your fingers crossed that Terry stays nailed on and that it will be Cahill and Luiz who take turns with each other. If you have 1.3 more, why not Giroud for Lambert? RMT too 🙂

      Migs (Harper)
      Ivanovic Ferdinand Chester Zabaleta
      Ozil Brady Lampard
      Sturridge RVP Giroud

Hoping Ozil is fit, otherwise I have a gut feel he'll work out better than Walcott in the long-term anyway. Big question is, should i swap Sturridge for Benteke? Racist rat is coming back soon and that should mean more goals for Pool, and Sturridge will definitely get some points off those. Also, Pool has a much better run of fixtures compared to Villa, who play City, Spurs and Everton for 3 out of 4 of their next home games. Advice?

Repost --> some difficult decisions for me this week. Any chance I could get some further advice/ feedback/suggestions on the following:

    Which team?
    Team 1:

    GK: Mignolet (Harper)
DEF: Zabaleta, Shaw, Koscielny (Chester) (B. Turner)
MID: Walcott, Lampard, HBA, Brady (Ward-Prowse)
    ATT: RVP, Soldado, Giroud

    Team 2:

    GK: Mignolet (Harper)
DEF: Vidic, Yanga-Mbiwa, Koscielny (Chester) (Baker)
MID: Walcott, Coutinho/Michu, HBA, Brady (Ward-Prowse)
    ATT: RVP, Benteke, Giroud

Personally, I'm looking at Team 2 with Chester played over Yanga-Mbiwa to account for Benteke potentially scoring points.

    Two other quick questions:

    1) Which 6mil defender? Vidic, Terry, Walker (Zabaleta who I already have)

    2) Which 9mil mid? Coutinho, Michu?

Many thanks, all comments appreciated 🙂

    Greetings FF insomniacs

Got 2 FT's so thinking of doing Silva & Anelka > Hernandez & Benteke. That would leave me with this team, with 0.8 in the bank. I'm loving the forward line but don't know if I'm too keen on the midfield. Opinions?

    GK: Mignolet
DF: Ivanovic -- Zabaleta -- Clyne
MF: Mirallas -- Hernandez -- Lampard -- Walcott
FW: Benteke -- Giroud -- Soldado

Bench: Davis -- Coleman -- Kim -- Garrido

I think its likely they will both start. Personally I think its a good week to risk going without RVP. As an RVP owner myself I'm scared he might play a tad deeper with Rooney out. Its quite possible Hernandez might start up front forcing RVP deeper. If RVP is a little quiet against CP his price will plummet with City the following week.

    Scez

    Coleman - Zabs - TOURE - Chester - (Whitaker)

    Coutinho - Snodgrass - SILVA - Walcott - Miralles

    Soldado - Sturridge - Anelka

So it's evident I need to do something. But what?

    (A) KEEP Toure - Silva + Anelka > Brady + Giroud/Benteke(-4)
    (B) MOVE Toure + Silva + Anelka > Vidic + Brady + Giroud/Benteke (-8)

Surely Giroud for the long run, no?

Also just as lost as everyone regarding the prospects of Toure > Wisdom/Kelly although in the long run I might just pull Toure for Sakho.

    Need some help lads!

Need to decide whether to do last minute wildcard or just do something like Silva > Hernandez/Ben Arfa and Dzeko > Benteke for a hit?

    Boruc (Mignolet)
Ivanovic Coleman Toure Chester (B Turner)
    Walcott Coutinho Mirallas (Kim)
    Soldado(c) Lambert Dzeko (Silva)

    Thanks very much in advance!

Dzeko to Bentekkers sounds much more sensible to me. No point in rushing WC decisions! If needed, go for it for the next GW. Don't think it would make that big a difference. Besides, your team looks solid as it is! Please RMT too. I've posted just after you 🙂

Please RMT guys 🙂 Needs some advice for next week as I am not willing to take a hit this GW. Also, what are the opinions on my GK selection for this GW?

    Boruc (Mig)
    Terry Dawson Collins (Debuchy, Whittaker)
Cout Silva (inj) Walcott(C) Whittingham (Redmond)
    Giroud(V) Rooney(inj) Bent(inj)

[£2.2 in the bank] for Whittingham/Redmond to Sess (or anybody else) next week.

This seemed like a decent team when I used my WC last week. But severely affected by injuries now! Should I hold tight with this squad, or make changes albeit with a hit?

Thanks mate, would you get rid of Silva too for a hit then or just get Benteke?

West Ham pretty toothless in attack so gotta go Boruc surely? I have same keepers.

Not Silva just as yet! There are a couple of reasons for this. Firstly, I love the way he plays! He's going to create chances every match, no matter what. Obviously, this means potential BPs too.
Secondly, according to me, he's currently the best bet at that price. Michu has been quite poor until now, and Lamela will prob need some time to find his feet. If Michu puts in a good shift against Pool though, then you've got a dilemma on your hands.

      1) Taarabt.
      2) Lallana
      3) Hernandez.

Taar (vs. WBrom at home), Lall (vs. Wham at home) over Hern,(vs. Liverpool at home)
