Clean sheets are the order of the day once again as Southampton and West Ham play out a goalless draw in Sunday’s only fixture. While the two sides continue to impress defensively, their inability to find the net is a real concern – both have notched just twice over the opening four fixtures:

The Game Changer

Jussi Jaaskelainen’s heroics between the sticks were once again crucial to the Hammers’ prospects today. Helping his side to a vital point at St Mary’s, the Finnish star denied Mauricio Pochettino’s side with five saves to register his third clean sheet in four matches – with just a single goal conceded to Stoke so far, the London outfit have been superb at the back and somewhat atoned for the problems up front which have seen them fail to score in three successive matches.

Up next for the Hammers is a home game against an Everton side that have one goal in three before a trip to Hull – more defensive points look likely before the schedule takes a turn for the worse from Gameweek 7 onwards.

The Underused

Seemingly out of favour under Pochettino, Nathaniel Clyne returned to the Southampton first XI for the first time this term. The right-back turned in an impressive showing and with a couple of bonus points also on the cards, he could return to Fantasy radars after shedding over 24,000 owners and dropping down to 4.4 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) – at least 0.2 cheaper than any other regular in the Saints’ defence.

With four kind home games (CPL, SWA, FUL, HUL) and a trip to Stoke in the next seven, Clyne looks set for further returns as Pochettino’s look to continue a run that has now seen them concede just twice in the opening four Gameweeks.

The Selection Poser

Clyne’s return was one of three changes from Pochettino today as Luke Shaw and Jay Rodriguez were also named in the starting line-up. While Shaw’s return was expected after he proved his fitness for the England Under 21s over the last week, his owners will be concerned after he was subbed off towards the end of the match – the player has since taken to twitter to reveal his withdrawal was due to cramp but his propensity for picking up niggles and failing to last 90 minutes is clearly becoming an issue.

Pochettino’s decision to hand Rodriguez a chance proved frustrating for James Ward-Prowse’s new owners. The youngster had started all of the first three Gameweeks and with a share of set-piece duties and kindly price tag, he was acquired by an extra 57,000 new FPL owners over the two-week international break. Handed an 19-minute second-half cameo towards the end of the stalemate, Ward-Prowse could be set for an exodus if Rodriguez keeps his place.

For the visitors, the second-half introduction of Razvan Rat could be a sign that Sam Allardyce is set to alter his full-back options. The summer signing hadn’t featured in the league prior to today but was sent on just after the hour mark in a move that allowed the versatile Joey O’Brien to switch from left-back to the opposite flank and saw Guy Demel withdrawn instead – perhaps an ominous sign for the Ivorian’s owners over the weeks to come.

Really hope Lukaku bags a goal this week ... will really throw the cat amongst the pigeons with an already sumptuous choice of forwards. RVP owners will be livid if he blanks this GW too!

Yeah but thats 2 from 4 and he costs so much!

Example people with RVP are playing JWP, Brady and Barkley whilst people without are playing Benteke, Giroud (both outscored RVP) and have super midfields.

Staunch Anti-RVPer for me this year ... until he bags a brace and i jump on the bandwagon!

Newcastle have conceded the least shots at home. Everton the least shots away. Southampton behind just Tottenham, City and Chelsea in shots conceded on average both home and away. Impressive.

RVP owners having RVP + 2 of Giroud / Sturridge / Soldado / Tekkers.

Plan to stick to this top heavy front line?

Both lukaku and bent have decent next 5 fixtures:

    Lukaku - whm / NEW / mci / HUL / avl
    Bent - che / CAR / STO / cpl / sot

My current forward line is RVP / Giroud / Soldado and I'm tempted to downgrade soldado (getting eriksen for spurs nice fixtures) and upgrade elsewhere...

You would think so. Periodic rests throughout the season for Lampard will be the norm - but he should normally get a game.

Swansea are 6th highest in the league for shots at goal at home.. Liverpool are 5th highest in the league for shots conceded away from home. A lot of Mignolet save points coming up tonight.. Cant see a CS though. Gonna be a gr8 game

Taken a couple of hits this week but that's the first time this season (an unusual occurrence for me) off to Greece in a few hours, will try and find a local taverna to watch the games on. Any advice on the captain for this week?

Upgrade Toure to Agger/Enrique if the money is no object.

looking good as he started so far because Palacios was hurt, but Palacios started a cup game before the break and during the break had a full international. And he was on the bench vs City, so it looks like it is Wilsons place to lose, and he has been great so far from what I gather

Did anyone put a bet on Giroud for Golden Boot in pre-season? Can't find the topic where we were discussing it -but those who backed him must be feeling a little bit more confident now, at least!

He has to start - If Suarez was available they may consider resting him - but without that option if he can run he'll play.

Anyone else managed to free themselves from the shackles of watching price changes this season? I was still doing it at the beginning of the season, but during the international break I've actually not been on TFPL or FISO and I'm loving it. Makes it possible to make decisions based on stats, fixtures, whatever, without imminent price changes being a factor, and also to make them close to deadline instead of early.

What do you guys think of this WC team?
    Migs (Boruc)
Vertonghen - Zabaleta - Coleman - Yanga Mbwia (Collins)
Walcott - Ben Arfa - Mirallas (Barkley - Brady)
    Benteke - Giroud - Sturridge
    1.6 in bank

Not sure whether punting on ben arfa is the best option although game against Hull is promising. Also is it worth spending the extra 1.9 mil on vert instead of getting dawson?

Personally I think Vert is too expensive compared to options like Terry/Luiz/Vidic/Agger/Sahko, I wouldn't get Dawson though as Kaboul is closing in on fitness and they've bought another great CB.

I'd downgrade Vert and upgrade Barfa to Michu/Coutinho/Lamela/Eriksen.

Downgrade Boruc & Yang to £4m, with Vert to £5.5m, which should leave you enough cash to upgrade Mirallas
