Having failed to score in Arsenal’s first four fixtures, Theo Walcott’s start to the season has been a major disappointment. While Olivier Giroud racks up the goals, the Gunners winger has yet to get off the mark and with Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey offering alternatives across the price points in the Fantasy games, Walcott’s case for inclusion in our five-man midfields hasn’t exactly been a convincing one.

With Arsene Wenger’s side primed for a superb run of fixtures which sees them face just two of last term’s top six in the next 10 Gameweeks, investment in Arsenal’s main assets seems a sensible tactic.     A few dilemmas in my side that need answering?

    A- Coleman has obviously had an amazing start to the season, but long term is he really going to cut the mustard?

    B- With Rooney seemingly nailed on at United now is he a must have?

    C- Is there really a need for a 4.5 Million backup goalkeeper?

    D- Is it worth me wildcarding?

        My rationalisation being that you have the 'most important' positions covered with good players (giroud, sturridge, Theo, HBA, Zaba, Coleman, Mignolet). The current team may have a couple of holes, but it will also continue to score well enough to allow a more gentle change. Most of your WC changes are in less important positions (sub keeper, 5th mid, rotating defense)

        A hit (maybe two if you have 0 FT's left) this week and FT's for the next few will have you sorted.

      C - Yes. Just look at this week - Boruc got me some valuable points while Migs didn't. For 0.5m, he's a worthy investment.

    Pressing question for me is whether Martinez's defence at Everton is a completely different beast from the one at Wigan. I've gotta say as a skeptic from watching the latter, I have been impressed with it. Have the CS so far been deserved or lucky?

      Havent seen either defences much, but what I did note in the off-season is, stats wise, most of the goals scored against Wigan last season were a direct result of a defencive error. Essentially, the personel werent good enough, rather than an inherent flaw in the managers style.

      Remember he also has arguably much better players at Everton as well...pretty much every player in the back 4 is a marked improvement on the personnel at Wigan.

        They are better, I just wasn't sure if the defect in Wigan's defence was more due to a tactical defect or a personnel defect. Perhaps this has given us the answer.

      Martinez had a good defensive record of a goal conceded every 1.02 games at swansea, i think wigan just had a bad defense and he didnt have the funds to improve it.

      Everton had a good defence last year and Barry coming in will improve it i've had coleman from the start and for me he is a season keeper.
