While Roman Abramovich will be twitching after back-to-back defeats following last night’s Champions League setback, it might just be worth keeping faith with Jose Mourinho. It’s not wise to write off ‘The Special One’ and according to Paddy’s latest odds going into Gameweek 5, the Blues are very much fancied to spank local rivals Fulham this weekend.

Anytime Goalscorer Odds – Gameweek 5

Four of Paddy’s top six players most likely to notch this weekend wear the blue of Chelsea – even Fernando Torres gets a look in. With uncertainty over Jose’s teamsheet, both Demba Ba and a rusty Samuel Eto’o top the charts: the pair are 4/5 with Paddy Power to get on the scoresheet against Martin Jol’s side.

Despite this, Torres is perhaps the most likely to start Sunday’s clash and he’s odds-on at 10/11 to register his first league goal of the season. Frank Lampard is also 11/10 with Paddy, making him the midfielder most likely to find the net in the Gameweek according to their current odds. Notably, Juan Mata and Eden Hazard also sneak into the top 20 most likely goalscorers as the traders apparently predict a tough afternoon for Martin Jol’s side, despite the current malaise at the Bridge.

Looking elsewhere, it’s no surprise to see that Robin van Persie is again a fixture in the top ten, although it’s a certainly a shock to see Wayne Rooney far less fancied to score in Sunday’s Manchester derby. The Dutchman has three goals this season and is 7/5 to score any time at the Etihad; Rooney is out at 13/5 (3.60) by comparison. It’s worth noting that City are favourites for Sunday’s encounter and if United win on Sunday, Paddy Power will refund selected losing bets.

Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge and Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud are the other strikers in form and much sought after by Fantasy managers over the past six days. Both have four goals in four outings and are understandably nestled in the top rankings again this week. Sturridge is 10/11 to score at any time as Liverpool face Southampton at Anfield, while Giroud is 5/6 to claim a fifth league goal when Stoke pay visit to north London.

Clean Sheet Odds – Gameweek 5

Arsenal1.91
Liverpool2.10
Newcastle2.30
Tottenham2.40
West Brom2.60
Everton2.88

Despite the day one victory at Sunderland, Fulham are still regarded as a travel sick bunch, so it’s no surprise to see Chelsea on top of the clean sheet odds. Mourinho’s defence is at 5/6 with Paddy to claim the shutout. Arsenal aren’t too far behind: they come in at 10/11 to keep Stoke out at the Emirates as Paddy predict another one-sided London encounter.

Tottenham have conceded just once this season and claim their place in the top five ahead of a testing trip to Cardiff at 7/5, while league leaders Liverpool are 11/10 to keep Rickie Lambert and company at bay when Southampton visit Merseyside; the Saints have just two goals in their four matches so far.

Newcastle complete Paddy’s top five and are 13/10 to keep a clean sheet with Hull City pulling up at St James’ Park. Fabricio Coloccini will likely be the man to back, with bonus points always on cards for the dominant Argentine. Coloccini gathered the maximum in both the Magpies’ clean sheets so far and, if you fancy him for a points bonanza, he’s out at 12/1 for an anytime goal.

Outside of the top five, it’s interesting to see goals predicted in Sunday’s big derby clash. Neither City or United are backed to keep it clean, with Manuel Pellegrini’s side at 2/1 and United out at 10/3.

Ferdinand vs. Evans in two months time:

    A) Ferdinand's experience prevails & he becomes Moyes safety blanket in the back four

    B) Ferdinand & Evans become a rotation nightmare w/ UTD's Cup fixtures & Eurpoean commitments

    C) Evans' young legs win out & he solidifies a spot in the first XI for the remainder of the season

    D) Other?

    Falling stars
    .................
Whilst it's now busier and with a different crowd, and as it seems to be going down so well, I thought i'd give some fresh air to another one of my falling stars posts from earlier today..apologies for the repost to anybody who saw it earlier today
    .................

With injuries now coming thick and fast, and the patience of the impatient being tested to breaking point, i've put together another weekly batch of crocs and random fallers to consider before we reach for the sanctuary of TotalFPL and last weeks heroes...

Sandwiched between the knee jerk and drunken eight point Friday night hits Thursday presents an opportunity of quiet contemplation of carefully timed transfers for increased TV, bargains and new opportunities...

All players are cheaper than their opening GW value and available for a combined total less than the original 100.0 mill budget, some for immediate pickings and others for the short or long term watchlist, Not too many changes from last weeks bargain hunt but still worth a coat of looking at.

    Cech (6.4) xxxx (4.0)

    Kompany (6.3) Johnson (5.9) Williams (4.9) Clyne (4.4) Baker (3.9)

    Sessegnon (6.7) Michu (8.9) Moses (6.2) Mirallas (7.3) Mata (9.8)

    Bony (7.7) Suarez (10.9) Remy (7.4) (0.3)

    Squad value 99.7....original value 103.5...saving 3.8 mill

Goalkeepers...At 6.4 Cech is somewhat overpriced compared to other keeper options but budget friendly compared to Hart. In a low value squad his differential value is appealing...With Mignolet now at 41% and Cech at 13%, and the pool thrown into panic by Johnson's injury, he could well be a great differential.

Defenders...Kompany (6.3) Ripe for picking Kompany now comes in at the same price as current City hot pick Zabaleta after his injury, with CB's picking up Baps for fun he may well be the smart pick..Johnson (5.9) A month long injury will see Johnson on plenty of watchlists, With scope for further falls he may well be a full 0.3/0.4 cheaper than his opposite number,Jose Enrique, by the time he returns...Williams (4.9). One of three Swans i've picked, a poor opening run of fixtures has seen him fall by 0.1, but with a great run coming up and near certain starts hemay well prove one of the best value picks around the 5.0 price bracket..Clyne (4.4) Prone to musical chairs of late he looks set to become the good pick he seemed for openeing gameweek..Baker (3.9) A likely (!) replacement for the injured Okore he becomes my cut price book ened pick.

Mids...Sessegnon (6.7). Couldn't script it better. With the paperwork cleaned up the Baggies record signing should make his debut against his old club Sunderland at the weekend..IN THE HOLE !..and boy oh boy do they need his creativety...Michu (8.9) Great fixtures and a great display against Liverpool, he's back on plenty of radars...Moses (6.2)..A croc list at Anfield and an impressive debut has surely secured his place for the weekend and upcoming good fixtures...Mirallas (7.3) lacking FPL points, his real life stock will be bolstered by Matinez's recognition of his talents after the Chelsea game and the promise of future striker roles for mr versatile...Mata (9.8)...Massive punt for the brave..With no wins in four and back to back defeats Mourinho must now be viewing Mata with a long eye..if not it must surely be time for Mata to consider jumping ship..

Fowards...Bony (7.7) a victim of limited minutes and and a bad run of fixtures have seen him shipped out in droves.Ignoring the stats, the potential for the Michu/Bony combo is easy to see. Suarez (10.9)...Outstanding world class player who will be chomping at the bit for his return..Remy (7.4)...With good but limited performances from Remy and Newcastle seemingly adopting a shoot on sight policy all the smart money is on HBA operating on the opposite flank...although a differential is always worth more than a template pick.

Other picks..for consideration..Koscielny (5.4) Lukaku (7.4) Kenwyne Jones (4.9) Luiz (6.2) Negredo (9.3) Wilshire (6.3)...and on and on and on...

Hope you like my picks for this week...and keep watching the fallers...

    From GW7 onwards...

    A) Ramsey Michu Rooney
    B) HBA Eriksen Benteke
