With the Defenders and Midfielders already assessed, we move to the men up front and analyse the options over the next four to five Gameweeks. Once again, the recent refresh is available in your sidebar – read on for more details on the factors behind our thinking:

While Wayne Rooney has momentum and Robin van Persie is still battling to justify his lofty Fantasy price tag, we remain resolute in our backing of the Dutchman’s potential to score heavily in the coming weeks. On the spot against Palace last time out, Van Persie’s partnership with Rooney looks highly profitable over a kind run of Old Trafford encounters with West Brom, Southampton and Stoke all due in Manchester before Gameweek 9. Rooney clearly has the potential to topple his strike partner if he can maintain form – his 10.5 price tag is on the rise and a drop in Van Persie’s stock and ownership would seem inevitable should Rooney outscore the Dutchman in Sunday’s derby clash.

Aside from Rooney, there are clear pretenders to the top ranking position, with Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud now fully established as an outstanding prospect. Still priced kindly at 9.0 in the FPL, the Frenchman’s goal-a-game record thus far could well be maintained when Stoke pay visit to the Emirates this weekend. Certainly, Giroud should continue to be handed a steady supply of service from midfield and it is perhaps only that midfield talent that detracts from his current appeal as a Fantasy acquisition. With Aaron Ramsey, Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil such temptations, is Giroud as essential as his points tally and price suggest? Given that Arsenal are one of the few sides who look to have established some attacking fluidity, it’s perhaps wise to stock up with Gunners’ assets at this moment in time, while the likes of City and Chelsea settle and Luis Suarez is back installed in the Liverpool system.

Suarez’s arrival in Gamweeek 6, coupled with the injury to Philippe Coutinho, casts some renewed doubt over Daniel Sturridge’s potential but there’s no denying his form right now. Four goals in as many games speaks volumes and has earned Sturridge an army of new owners in the last seven days. We’ll be watching for the impact of Suarez’s return, however, and the fact that the Uruguayan already sits in our rankings, despite being banned this weekend, indicates just how influential he could be on our thinking in the coming weeks.

Roberto Soldado and Christian Benteke are perhaps unfortunate to drop outside the top five, particularly in the Belgian’s case. While Soldado is yet to register a goal from open play, Benteke has four strikes to his name and continues to cement a reputation as a “fixture proof” asset. That status will be put to the test in forthcoming home encounters with City and Spurs. As for Soldado, he has three home games in four to come after the weekend trip to Wales and that should give him the platform to re-establish his Fantasy stock, having suffered sales in recent weeks. His price point, plus the emergence of Chritstian Eriksen and the potential offered by Erik Lamela, are factors that dent his appeal, however.

If you must delve into the mid-price up front, then Everton’s loan signing Romelu Lukaku nudges above Southampton’s Rickie Lambert, despite the fact he’s yet to kick a ball for the Toffees. Lukaku’s 17 goals at West Brom last season suggest that he has the weapons to convert a ready supply from Everton’s flanks and from Ross Barkley’s promptings in midfield.

Outside of the listed rankings, Cardiff’s Frazier Campbell remains the top budget pick on offer, with Crystal Palace’s Dwight Gayle, armed with spot-kicks, offering the alternative. Southampton’s Jay Rodriguez is perhaps worth monitoring, however – he’s dropped to 5.8 in the FPL but regained his starting role for the Saints in the 0-0 with West Ham. In the short-term, meanwhile, Everton’s Steven Naismith can be acquired for just 4.8 and looks set to retain his start for the trip to Upton Park on Saturday having netted the winner against Chelsea.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Captaining Ivanonic this week after captaining Evra last week. Happy with my 5-2-3 strategy at the moment and see no reason to change.

Am I the only one who thinks that Ivanovic might be rested? Maybe I'm just hoping because I don't have him but half my mini-league does. Assuming he plays, I still think captaining a defender is not a good idea.

Think I found the answer to the mystery of why Stoke's defence looks good on the last 2 GW's videos, but is bad on the stats (2nd most shots conceded in box away and 6th most overall).

Stoke conceded 17 shots in the box in GW1 against Liverpool. SEVENTEEN. 😆

Arsenal > Liverpool therefore Arsenal will take at least 18 shots inside the box, 3 of them are bound to be goals, Walcott is bound to have scored one and set up one.

      Walcott (c) it is, thanks!

Trying desperately not to jinx Arsenal.

My interpretation of it is that this one baptism of fire has skewed the stats and they've resumed their normal selves in the last two weeks with good defensive performances and CS against City and West Ham.

Do you know what minute they conceded in (in the games they've conceded in)?

If a decent team hit them early, their sit on the edge of the box philosophy should change. Against a team like Arsenal they could still get whooped.

I do fear it was just a start of season blip though, from watching highlights of their defence over the last two GWs (City and West Ham 2 CS). Take a look for yourself. Giving me a bit of a headache because I'm on a WC and unsure about triple Arsenal attack. http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/comment/5613780

I watched, sticking to my views.

Stoke at home with the crowd behind them are always decent. They also seem to be a bogey team for City (Crouch volley anyone?) at the Brittania.

              West Ham attack, meh!

Liverpool attack not firing apart from Sturridge. Having so many chances created against them says something.

Still confident on Arsenal. Stoke aren't that good, bound to concede a few away to the big boys.

It's nice to converse with a reasoned debater around here. Refreshing to see this as usually it's people 100% sure of their warped views 🙂

Eva Carneiro's Lap Dance Party Theory

Right lads, just had a mate who was invited to the annual Eva Carneiro Lap Dance party. It isn't what you might think it is, but it exactly is. To give you a bit of background, it is a wildcard option used by Chelsea managers to increase the morale of the players and eventually get the team out of the hot tub. Looks like Mourinho had to trigger the WC early this year. Well...from reading a few hot topics on here, I'm glad he did as history suggests an early WC is likely to increase your chances at winning the title.

Anyways, my mate had a few interesting observations from the party and I feel it is of significant FPL relevance. The selfless side of me thought it would be useful to share it with you geezers.

Firstly great news for Oscar and DeBruyne owners cos they didn't attend the party and should be fresh for the game tomorrow. Even better news for Oscar owners as he wasn't allowed for being underage. So he'll be all firing all guns blazing tomorrow to prove that he is a fine gentleman who can play his A game in the hole.

Interestingly for Super Frank owners, he came in 2 hours before the party started and stayed for an hour. Although my mate suggested the hamburger seller at the party had to close the shop even before the party started, so he wasn't sure if Frank leaving was a consequence of this. Good news - No booze for him tonight, so you can expect more quality from set-pieces.

In other news, Juan Mata managed to impress Mourinho with his flirting skills and ended up with a lot of touches in the box.

The bad news comes for David Luiz owners. Luiz was rather indisciplined throughout. First he didn't follow the dress code of the party by coming shirt-less and in seasoned bermudas. And then despite Mou telling him to hold his position at the back of Eva, he kept running into the sides and made several surging attacks forward. My mate felt this night could have cost Luiz the whole season.

As the night wore on, the old guard took over. Ashley Cole stepped in as wingman for the most handsome player of the night, John terry. Yup Terry took Eva home so his confidence should be sky high and you can expect a goal from him tomorrow.

A few key stats from last night
(mind you this has nothing to do with Opta, just observations from mate who was rather tipsy at the end of the party)

Hazard 15 successful dribbles 4 chances created
Ramires 17 attempted tackles 3 successful (rumors that he took a knock too)
    Eto'o 8 shots Torres 2 shots Ba 7 shots
    Cahill 3 big chances
Ivanovic 4 attempted crosses (all blocked) 6 touches in the box
Essien 10 tackles all successful 4 shots on target 1 warning from Mou (for drooling too much)

Based on the above lapdance party theory, it's pretty obvious this will be the line-up tomorrow

    -------------------Cech-----------------
    Ivano----Cahill----JT(C)--------Cole
    -------Essien-----Lamps--------------
    Mata-----------Oscar------------Hazard
    ------------------Torres-------------------

Subs - Schwarzer, Azpi, Bertrand, Mikel, Schurrle, MvG, Ba

    Hope that helps.

do U have any from UTD?

People are selling Lamela and he's now sit at 77% to price drop.
I think he'll survive today cut.

But not sure if he will go straight to price drop on Saturday night before Spurs play on Sunday.
If it's the case, I will have to remove him before Spurs game to avoid price drop.

Why don't take a hit now and get Eriksen with an immediate 0.1m price rise?

    Gday,

After using RMT Projections, fixtures for the short-medium term and recent data, I have devised this as my WC team.

    Sczezsny Boruc
    Baines MYM Agger Walker Chester
Walcott Eriksen Moses Michu RMorrison/some 4.4 MF
    Rooney Benteke Gayle

This might be my last season of FPL for a little while so I want to throw everything at my ML, which I've never won (2nd and 3rd at best in the past).

    Suggestions for further improvement welcome.

Arthur Benn at the moment, Pep. Had it on Wally all week but changed after I had a look at the defensive stats for Stoke. They played well against West Ham and very well against City. HBA is wildly inconsistent but in form and against a weakened Hull.

I dunno, may change it back to Wally. Cue 0-0 at the Emirates and an HBA bonanza....definitely not captaining RVP though, that's got 0-0 written all over it.

Remember Alex Ferguson? He managed some of the most infamous sides in PL history, and was a notorious tumor on the game for several years. Well, he's still lying about his influence with the referees:
