Sergio Aguero’s brace ensures David Moyes has a Manchester derby debut to forget. Stoke’s new Austrian buy arrives on the Fantasy radar, while injuries to Robin Van Persie and Theo Walcott ruffle the feathers and may well prove the catalyst for a selling spree across the Fantasy games…

The Game Changer

Sergio Aguero’s deadly double ensured David Moyes had a debut Manchester derby to forget. While the pre-game buzz surrounded Robin Van Persie’s groin injury withdrawal, the plaudits went the Argentine’s way after he helped steer City to a comprehensive victory at the Etihad.

Having produced a goal and assist in the midweek Champions League win over Viktoria Plzen, Aguero’s form ensured he kept his place as Manuel Pellegrini opted to partner him with Alvaro Negredo and dropped Edin Dzeko to the bench. After a hugely underwhelming second season in Manchester, Aguero is starting to hint at the form that made him such a Fantasy sensation back in 2011/12 – it’s three goals, two assists and six Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points now, with this afternoon’s haul moving him to second in the forward standings.

Aguero has now scored or assisted in three of his four league starts under Pellegrini and with the City boss determined to go on the offensive this term, his side have already racked up 12 goals – five more than any other team bar Arsenal. Given that the only time City have drawn a blank was in Gameweek 4 – when Aguero was omitted from the starting XI – it’s becoming clear that, in spite of his plethora of attacking options, Pellegrini’s chances of picking up the silverware may well lie on the little Argentine’s shoulders.

The Underused

Handed a first start by Mark Hughes at the Emirates earlier today, Marko Arnautovic was initially utilised on the left of the Potters midfield as Matt Etherington made way for the talented Austrian. His superb volley off the woodwork, which led to Geoff Cameron’s consolation, earned the former Werder Bremen man an assist but it was his move to the lone forward role later in the game that will be of particular interest to Fantasy managers.

Hughes’ decision to withdraw Kenwyne Jones allowed Arnautovic to shift up front and perhaps hints at his thinking as he looks to integrate the new boy into his XI. Listed as a midfielder, Arnautovic – coming in at 5.5 in FPL with an ownership of just 0.1% – could be a potential out of position prospect ahead of a run of six enticing games (NOR, ful, WBA, mun, SOU, swa, SUN) in the next seven.

The Selection Poser

After Christian Benteke’s early withdrawal yesterday, the Gameweek went from bad to worse for many this afternoon. Theo Walcott’s late call-off for Arsenal was followed by Robin Van Persie’s omission from United’s trip to the Etihad as a couple of the weekend’s main armband contenders failed to show, forcing many Fantasy managers to rely on the points accrued from cut-price bench fodder.

Certainly, the early prognosis on both Van Persie and Walcott remains optimistic. David Moyes has insisted the Dutchman could be back as soon as the midweek Capital One Cup clash against Liverpool, while Arsene Wenger is hopeful Walcott will only be out for a matter of days.

The issue for Fantasy managers here is whether to ignore the volatile markets and ride out any potential price drops. This season, in particular, has seen significant activity and with both United and Arsenal set for strong schedules, Wayne Rooney and Mesut Ozil offer obvious alternatives to their respective team-mates. Van Persie, with an ownership in excess of 43%, could be set for significant sales if he fails to recover quickly, while Walcott’s 15% ownership – currently the tenth highest for midfielders – is falling since this afternoon’s withdrawal. There’s no doubt the pair, despite indifferent starts, will come good again but as wildcards are wielded frantically and the transfers out rack up, keeping calm amidst the knee-jerking mayhem after a hugely frustrating week like this is proving the ultimate test of patience.

Can someone give me a heads up about M's state of mental well being.
Have the Russian Sulky Billionaire mafia men exuded too much influence on his flamboyant managerial skills.

Just wondering because Chelsea look like a team without any identity or scruples.

All I see is a sulky billionaire in the box with a man who has his hands tied up his Jax C.

And his players are a fooking bunch of pussies wedged between there bent Russian owners..

Fook 'em. I don't want any players from this corrupt gravy train..... no more

Why are so many people considering getting rid of Walcott? I know he has not gotten the points we expect of him so far and has a slight injury but it doesn't seem bad he should be back this week?

I think Ozil's performance has made people's eyes wander in Mesut's direction and neglect Theo's potential. Plus Theo had a great deal of expectation riding on him this week and I think people got their fingers burnt = backlash.

Went camping for the weekend. Came home to this:

    Walcott (c) - 0
    Giroud (vc) - 4
    JWP sub - 1
    Benteke - 1
    Soldado - 1
    Ben Arfa - 2
    Coleman - 1
    Zabaleta - 2

On the bench: Boruc - 9

Tough week, dropped from 8k to 164k the last few weeks.

Here are some thoughts for change:

A: Benteke ---> Lukaku for no hit.
    B: Boruc ---> 4.0 and Benteke ---> Suarez/Rooney for -4
    C. Benteke ----> Lukaku and Soldado ----> Suarez/Rooney for -4

    What do you think?

Played WC already this week, looking to cash in on some price rises before picking my team next Fri/ sat morning.

    Looking for a team which is going to rise the most. Thinking;

    GK: Boruc

Def: Zab Ivan Baines Lovren Fonte

Mid: Ozil, Ramsey, Barkley, Yaya, Brady

    Att: Giroud, Rooney, Sturridge.

Any ideas whether these players are close to price rises or have I left someone out who will rise?

    Thanks in advance!

Simply truly gigantic numbers of transfers. Think I read a figure of 420,000 new owners for Ramsey this week. Smaller but six figure bandwagons for Ramsey, Giroud etc. Desperate lack of consistent pointscorers so everyone is kneejerking.

you're right... you should wait and see first...

having said that, I think i'll hold onto sturridge for a while..... maybe they wont differ that much. if they both start that is.....

Aplogies for the typo hehe; juggling tablet, bottle of Stoli Crystal and glass. 🙂
So given Suares comebak next gw: 25 min to do this trade or not

    Drop Bentek (drops tonite) for:
    1--Suares
    2--roonee
3--keep tekers and ONLY drop Tek wen we get confirmation if he will or will not play; Risk is he would hav dropeed .1-.2

already dropping now FT lamps for ramsey

I really hope Walcott repays my faith with two goals against Swansea and all those who swapped him for Ozil will regret it when Ozil has an assist-less week. Do this for me Walcott, and punish all those people.

Just think people are overestimating Walcott based on his returns from last season. There's a class difference between Özil and Walc and that will work in Özil's favor.

Real steal for Arsenal at 42M. And that's an understatement.

Hmm, perhaps Walcott won't be as good this season. I've been thinking about how he only really improved when his place in the team and place at arsenal was in jeopardy. But on the other hand, people reckon it's Giroud who'll most benefit from Ozil, maybe it's Walcott who'll take his game on to another level. He can score two in a game regularly..i think he's capable of that. But I suppose he's as limited as Giroud, who scores tap ins, and Walcott who scores one on ones.

Ozil got his assists today from set pieces, and he'll share them with Walcott in most games. Arsenal have a lot of midfielders, it could be any who thread the pass to Walcott, who can either shoot or make the pass to Giroud. He is always involved in arsenal's finishing. He has scored against the top sides too, he's not a flat track bully which arsenal has a whole have become in recent years. If there's one arsenal player I'd rely on to score against a top side, I'd pick Walcott over Giroud or Cazorla.

Walcott has still got 2 assists out of 4 games this season, which isn't too ineffective.

I'm not making the choice between the two, I'm getting rid of a 4.5m midfielder soon.

    Rooney Suarez Aguero
    Walcott Ozil Michu plus 2

Is that about right? I cant see Giroud justifying his place in my team for mucch longer

I don't know about Aguero. The rotation risk is pretty high and sucks. You don't want to be left out in the cold some GW because Pellegrini decided he needed to rest him. Giroud will play week in and week out and seems to have reached a new level. And I think I'd keep Sturridge. I doubt Suarez will outperform him, and he's cheaper than Suarez. And he doesn't bite (I'm being serious here, Suarez is a big risk long-term).

Sturridge's injury risk long-term is far higher than Suarez's biting risk.

Suarez's returns in the season before last was 11 goals. Why do people assume playing as second striker or left wing he'll be so effective?

Would say so.....although...I really fancy Giroud.....nailed on, and with that supreme service....i just feel he will always be in the position to get the job done.

Just tried that. Can't do it. Would need to downgrade defence. I don't like Rooney anyway, and I had Aguero during his duff weeks, clearly he's not for me. People are taking knee jerking too far if they're doubting Sturridge already. Sturridge will score more than Rooney this season, i believe that. He's the lone forward, Rooney takes free kicks, so i think that's fair.

    So here's my team:

    Mignolet (Marshall)
Zabaleta Turner Ward (injured) Chester (way injured) Brayford (non-playing fail)
    Ramsey Walcott Eriksen Michu Kim
    Benteke Giroud Sturridge.

2.9M in the bank, 1 FT.

I'm hoping that Walcott will be back next GW and that Benteke will be out 1 game max (crosses fingers). Looks like I need to sort out my defence and probably bring in a better performing def for Chester or Ward? Any advice? Long-term, non-performing Kim should probably be replaced with either Brady or Barkley? Thoughts? Thanks.
