With leagues across Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Sky Sports and Sun Dream Team there is plenty to catch up on following the international break. We look at those who have excelled during Gameweek 5 and those who are a little richer after having a great week in our PlayON game.

Fantasy Premier League

We have a new entry straight in at top spot in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game. Hemant Gosavi racked up 57 points last weekend, with Chelsea duo Oscar and John Terry both returning double-figure hauls, while Swansea’s Ben Davies and Arsenal’s in-form Aaron Ramsey also produced as Hemant clinched fifth spot in the overall standings, with 378 points so far.

Tarik Alibou sits in second after a Gameweek 5 score of 59. Seven of his players scored five points or more, with Yaya Toure, Per Mertesacker, Ross Barkley and Davies his chief protagonists. Stuart Hartley slips to third despite double-figure hauls from both Michu and Mesut Ozil in midfield, Ed C rockets into fourth in the Scout league after an incredible 82 points last weekend and Hafisi Nazir completes the top five, sitting on 359 points overall. Thanks to the efforts of our featured managers, Fantasy Football Scout remains at the top of the best leagues – the code to join is 1580-1106.

Wasana Busby moves to the top of the Fantasy Football Scout Members league with an overall score of 340 – Barkley, Toure, Terry and Jan Vertonghen all delivered last weekend. Corey Silveira slips to second after a 40-point haul in Gameweek 5, while Ivan Heneghan is a new entry in third spot – Per Mertesacker and Michu were his main performers from the previous weekend’s action.

In the Contributors and Moderators league, Andy is back at the top, with his faith in big-money defenders Vertonghen and Leighton Baines proving a wise decision. Big Dunc moves into second after playing his wildcard – the decision to captain Ozil harvested 28 of his 65 points in Gameweek 5.

Sky Sports Fantasy Football

Nick Whitrid remains in pole position in our Sky Sports league. Having reached the summit last week, he has now moved 22 points ahead of second-placed Leo Reid on 435 points; Nick in joint-sixteenth in the overall standings. In third place in the Scout league is Josie O’Neil, who is four points off Leo on 409 points. The winner of our Sky league, which is top of the league of leagues, wins £1,000. To join, visit Sky Sports Fantasy Football and key in League Name: FFScout, League Code: 8000112.

The Sun Dream Team

Lee Walpole remains at the top of our Sun Dream Team with a score of 431 points – his ploy to load up on six Spurs and three Arsenal players has certainly proven the correct tactic so far. Paul Williams is back in second on 397 points – all 11 of his players are from Tottenham – while John David Nicol takes third spot, with all but two of his players representing the north London duo. To join visit The Sun Dream Team, league name: Fantasy Football Scout, password: ReWOZhn1T1 and PIN: 8061654.

PlayON

Chris Robinson was the winner of PlayON’s £1,000 guaranteed game last weekend. He picked up a haul of £300 thanks to his decision to load up on three of Chelsea’s backline and Leighton Baines, while Stephane Sessegnon, Bacary Sagna and Yohan Cabaye – all highlighted in our picks article last week – ensured Chris was in the money. Tony Biswas earned second spot and a cash prize of £200, while Lionel Payne’s third place finish resulted in a £119 pay-out.

In our exclusive Fantasy Football Scout PlayON £2 game a total of £114 was on the table. Chris Robinson cleaned up here, too, earning £39.74, while Paul Thornden (£26.64) and Jason Turner (£20.16) took second and third spot respectively.

Hmm, my gut tells me that Lukaku won't start, but I can't think of any other strikers available to downgrade Benteke to that I actually want.

Lambert isn't particularly appealing, I could get Giroud, but I have Ozil, so Lukaku seems like the only option

Though knowing the impact Lukaku can have off the bench, maybe that's not so bad

That's exactly what I am thinking. I bought Remy for now, because I though he'll double rise, but I'll sell him tomorow. I'll probably bring Lukaku, but also think he won't start.

        - Much harder to defend
        - Not much difference in graphics

If money was no object, I'd say Zabaleta & Vertonghen. Value-wise, Nastasic & Walker might be the way to go.
Rooney vs Aguero is tough... Rooney has better fixtures, but Aguero can be explosive. I think the rotation threat for Aguero is over-stated. It really depends on RvP's injury.

Who though? Noone really tickling my fancy. Could just keep Collins I guess and hope he goes up again, not ideal on a Wildcard though?!

Can I get some opinions on ozil vs. Ramsey
    - ozil is just sooo expensive...worth it? Upsets the balance of my team esp if I want Suarez Rooney giroud upfront
    - Ramsey, good value for money but good as a 4th mid in a 3-4-3 and not as the 3rd mid in a 4-3-3 as you would want 3 big hitters in mid if playing 4-3-3...agreed?? If so and if I have Brady as the 5th mid...do u rotate Brady and Ramsey for the 4th mid slot depending on fixtures?

Ozil is like Silva on steroids. But still won't score many imo and is quite expensive. Goals still matter alot. World class player.

Ramsey is a good player in great form. I opted for Ramsey and Giroud, as I thought that was more then enough arsenal coverage.

If was getting just one from Arsenal, Ozil.

Both for -8 (Walcott and Benteke)

    A.) Ramsey and Rooney

    B.) Lukaku and Ozil

C.) Other combination (Only 18.5 to spend)

    D.) Stick with:

    Migs
    Zabaleta, Clyne, Vidic, Reither
    Oscar, Lampard, Brady, Whittingham
    Giroud, Sturridge

    Cheers!

I am surprised to see there are not much discussion/debate about Ozil here.
No doubt he's a fantastic footballer, and he has been performing well in FPL so far.
But with his price tag(I got him in for 10.2), is he really worth it?
We have Ramsey, Barkley and Brady at 6.0 and 5.1. That's about 4-5m of difference!
I don't think he can bag 2-3 assists every week and his goal threat is not as big as strikers.
Looking at the trend of bonus allocation this season, midfielders lost out many times to defenders, which cost a lot more lesser.

I am on WC, not sure should I get him in or go for a premium defense and forwards.
    ...
    Deadzone(?), help please? 🙂

I am also on WC and not sure about keeping him especially because of two away games coming and Walcott and Santi out. I have a choice between Ozil and Suarez and I think I'll give Ozil adventage. He's to hot to pass now and I can always sell him later, but if I don't keep him now, I don't think I'll be able to afford later.

If you saw him play last gw he really could have picked up 2 goals. A class player like that will eventually score goals along with his assists... remember Fabregas in a similar role back in the day for the Gunners. At the end of the season, barring injury, I'd expect to see Ozil in the top 3 midfielders fantasy wise. I think he's worth the money. At the very least you can ride the form now and price rises and sell for a nice profit if it tails off.

I have exactly the same confusion...I can only accommodate ozil if I
      - downgrade Suarez to sturridge
      - evra to vidic
      - Williams to murner
      - Ramsey to Barkley

Other option is to have Oscar/miralas and don't need to downgrade the rest

Posted this a while back before the season started so alot of gibberish are outdated, but seeing Baines recent performance and smallwagon happening here, it's probably a good time to repost.
A lot of my points are coming true

I have an interesting view with Baines. Not wanting to start any Baineswagon or whatever, and pretty sure it won't happen here. But just wanna share it out.

We all can't deny the quality of Baines as a player. Good going forward, good set pieces, etc. He's popular with the casuals, but not around here. Why? Mainly because his price 7.5m puts people off.

Coleman is 2.5m cheaper, is playing the same position. But really, the main attractiveness of Baines is his set pieces - where no doubt he'll get way more goals and assists compared than Coleman. I don't see the prospect of getting a CS for Everton under Martinez, I'd rather get Toure on that price range. ->

There's also Mirallas at 7.5m. I can honestly see Baines as an alternative to Mirallas. Both are very attacking players, both are OOP. I know it's not an potato to potato comparison. A 7.5m midfielder does not equate to 7.5m defender. With Baines, you'll get the cheapest midfielder (4.5m), and with Mirallas, you can have a cheapest + 0.5 (4.5m) defender. So you can say, Baines is '0.5m more expensive' than Mirallas, is more or less same dangerous attacking wise, but nailed on with the set pieces.

This is the common back four and five mid of template team.

    Ivanovic - Kos - Clyne - Collins - Brayford
    Hazard - Wally - Coutinho - Mirallas - Kim

Kim 1st bench, 2nd bench whoever between the rotating Clyne/Collins, 3rd benchfodder Brayford.

Going with Baines, it'll change to

    Ivanovic - Kos - BAINES – Collins - Brayford
    Hazard - Wally - Coutinho - THOMAS - Kim

People are put off by this because it would mean you won’t get a rotating defenders or playing Kim as your 4th midfielder and that you’ll have to play 4-3-3 or it’s simply ‘too defense heavy’. But if that’s where to points are then why not. It will actually give you flexibility in formations since West Ham, Cardiff, and Crystal Palace is good 3-team rotation. You can play either a 3-4-3 (with Kim or Thomas) or 4-3-3 (with Collins) depending on the fixtures.

Alternatively, if a Stoke-esque defense emerges this year, why rotate? You can stick with 4-3-3 and play all of your big guns.

Someone pointed out he had 5 goals and 7 assists last year - a Johnson-esque performance and we would probably expect more from a 7.5m player. But it's worth noting that he'll play more forward this year. So I can see a goal or two more and probably a double digit assist this year. And he still gets the CS points, although probably less than last year but the attacking points will offset that. And the baps favours him this year. So that's a consideration as well.

So yeah, there you go. Anyone might be interested? I'm not, for now. But as the season goes, if Martinez do stick with 3-4-3 and Everton somehow still tight at the back, I might consider Baines.
